That’s what I thought too. Saw a press release on this and it’s a 2.0L 4 cylinder turbo with 380 hp. 🤨
@@woolybully02 It's probably super light as well. Looked like it was struggling with grip in a few places, even where there wasn't bumps.

And sounds like he wasn’t even using all of the rev range too.

I'm just so happy to see Wolf Racing still at it, my all time favourite racing team. I still own 3 umbrellas from the F1 years, I make my girls use them, if they behave, sort of a prize ;)

It's sooooo impressive how well these expensive engines run at such high elevations! I live in a high elevation area of the Colorado Rockies. Riding my carbureted bike around 10,000-14,200ft is an interesting experience, but soooo much fune. It's tuned for 7,000ft so the pops from the exhaust sound cool as hell with an fmf exhaust on her 😎🔥

@@shrgien8602 tuning/riding at 14,000ft sounds way different than at 500ft above sea level for carbureted engines. Wasn't talking about these fuel injected engines specifically, just general engine talk lol 🤷🏼♂️🍻🍻

Never knew at the top it was *THIS* bumpy omg.
It used to be worse. They built a new visitor center up on top, a few years ago I think. I ride motorcycles up/down piles peak alot and I shake my head at that exact spot you're talking about because they could have fixed that part during the time of building the new visitor center up on top 🤦🏼♂️

@@tropickman It is not sped up. Full time up was 9:04. He crosses the start near 0:49 and finishes near 9:53 which matches the the race timing. The frame rate seems a little slow so it may appear kind of choppy like a sped up video.
That car's suspension is not the greatest. Look at monster tajima's sx4, vw IDR, loeb's 208 t16, they don't bounce like that.

For those unaware of it, this Rookie of the year is Christian Merli, a five time FIA European Hillclimb Championship winner.
His first foray at Pikes Peak has been impressive although somehow expected, given his skills.
I bet that if he returns and the weather allows it, he will make the run in less than nine minutes.

I don't know about y'all, but my heart is in my throat. Insane once you get about halfway up that mountain. Then the guardrails disappear and so do the mountainsides.
Whenever I see the real Pikes Peak, all I can think about is "In Gran Turismo there were more guard rails!!" lol
Watch some footage before it was asphalted, the original dirt road was way more exciting tho slower times
Wow what a smooth and fast ride!
Was the first time to watch this track by drivers perspective, not easy to drive, lower part is smooth, but the upper part is very bumpy, he even had a lot of wheel spin. Setup work under this conditions very difficult, too soft for the lower part but nearly too hard for the upper part. Track-mix reminds me a little bit on Nürburgring, but more sunny there😂. And of course, like always, in some corners you think "damned, I totally fucked up here" (f. e. around 2:00, corner apex not hit and wrong gear) but a good ride! Excellent!!

2.0 is referring to the displacement, not the power output
man broke his steering wheel in the last part, at minute 10:07 is checking it an also you see how mutch the steering wheel is moving up and down also after minute 8:00. Crazy🤯
I was stationed at Ft Carson in the late 80s. Back then Pike's Peak had zero paved roads and no guardrails.

yeah because when you accelerate out of hairpin it can cause more wheelspin, which you stop be either applying the throttle more gently or, and you guessed it, short shifting

Not sure that little brake icon is properly calibrated, I'm guessing there was more than that show by a lot. That said, he did employ quite a bit of engine braking.

You don't know how aggressive carbon brakes are and how much it takes to actually apply 100% brake pressure. Not even F1 drivers do that and use "trail braking" instead.
Yeah I think the HUD is just wrong, there's no way he's not braking as hard as possible. They have to translate brake pressure values to a percentage, the conversion is probably just configured for a different car. Same with the RPM's, redline seems to be at around 6k.
It must be so unnerving at the top of the run when you know drifting out towards the edge will give you a better line into the turn but you also know there’s a huge cliff waiting for you if you’re just a little TOO far out!!!😅

Comunque secondo me con quella macchina avrebbe anche potuto vincere, mi sembra bestiale... però giustamente se stai scalando le montagne e hai un precipizio a 10 cm di distanza non è facile portare la macchina al limite, io mi sarei cagato sotto e avrei fatto i tornanti ai 60km/h... quindi è stato bravissimo, complimenti, è come una vittoria! Se questo è l'inizio il primo posto non tarderà ad arrivare 💪

the movement while extremely fast doesn't necessarily look sped up, but it sure as heck sounds sped up. the audio just doesn't seem right.

sounds like considerable lag when he goes WOT until you hear the turbo boosting. It´s keeping the revs so low, ~4krpm out of the corners. I wonder how much time is lost between xhp requested and xhp received.
Yes, normally when mounted in a Volvo, it has a 48v electric supercharger that takes care of the low revs. The engines that Cyan racing uses, is the older generation with a mechanical roots blower.
