      By letting him run the court half the time? They let him rack up more and more fame with every prolonged, unchecked outburst. Judge Cedric Simpson has handled self representing, sovereign citizens that were behaving belligerently in court much more effectively than she did. Judge Simpson did so without increasing risk of a lighter sentence, or risking an appeal/ mistrial. She isn't a bad judge, but she didn't handle this that well, let alone "fantastic" like people are saying.

    Darrell Brooks could own a list of his own, he was so disrespectful throughout the whole trial. One moment comes to mind, where he directed his words to Judge Dorow and said something like “I can’t believe they even let you be a judge.” Another time he had an outburst about how he thought everybody was treating the trial as a joke and that he was fighting for his life and was the only one taking it seriously. He is a headache that will go down in the history of migraines.

    • @crispybatman480

      That is because the judge let him run the court room for a while. Out of the presence of the jury at least, but damn, it isn't like we haven't seen a defendant act like him while representing themselves. She is is mostly to blame for allowing him so many viral moments. His outbursts and fake arguments are orders of magnitude more viral than any victim impact statement or testimony, and he was allowed to have as many as he wanted pretty much.

    • @uncledoctor6920
      @uncledoctor6920 Год назад +22

      @Crispy Batman I promise you Judge Dorrow did all of that on purpose. Brookes pulled every trick in the book in an attempt to get himself a mistrial so he could delay his sentencing as long as possible and maybe have more time to work on his defense. The constant interruptions, the claims that he didn't understand the proceedings, the meaningless objections, the time wastes and tangents, the citing of irrelevant case laws and even made-up ones, all of it was to get that mistrial.
      Only problem is that because Dorrow had the patience of a Saint and audibly kept record of what went on in the courtroom, any possibility of a mistrial was thrown out because the record showed every little thing Brookes tried to weasel his way out of taking responsibility.
      The end result; the maximum sentence for all 76 charges, six life sentences to be served consecutively, taxpayer money saved because there will not be another trial, and the families and friends of the victims have the closure they need to help in their healing processes. It was an ugly affair, but believe me this was the best possible way this could have gone, and the results show it.

      @@pattioshea2816 Not remotely, there have been cases like this before, there is a precedent. She wasn't braving some new legal territory, she was dealing with it by letting him have control of the courtroom for large chunks of time. What gives them any chance for appeal is the judge fucking up their wording when she monologues to him too much. Brevity is her friend in that scenario. Again, Judge Cedric Simpson has handled multiple cases like this one in a much more controlled fashion, with no more threat of appeal or lesser conviction.

    • @soullessginger9912
      @soullessginger9912 Год назад

      Because that's their goal all along. It's like why do they keep letting pedophiles back on the street? Cause they know this person is going to get caught doing it again to another kid. Which means he'll have to spend more money on lawyers and everything. That's literally what the legal system is based on, money. They let certain people go because they know it will be a back and forth thing every time which means more money for them. Like why do you think tickets exist? FOR MONEY, the legal system might do good SOME TIMES but most of the time it's only interested in how much money they can get their hands on. And if that means letting them go so they can do it again so they can get more money, then that's what they'll do. Why do you think if people are stalking you or whatever the police won't do a damn thing until its too late, because they can't CHARGE somebody for stalking, letting the stalker murder somebody makes the charges even greater and makes the legal system more money in general. It's all about money, do you think prisons would give a shit about holding criminals if they weren't making money for every single person they have in a cell? Did you know they make money based on how many people they have behind bars, and it's from our tax dollars. So the more people that are behind bars in America the higher our taxes will be cause we're the ones paying for that. Some times that's what they do too, they let people out way sooner than they should because they know that they'll do it again and the sentence will be greater and they do that until the criminal gets life and then boom, they throw a man in a cell for the rest of their life, making permanent money off of that person until they're dead. Why do you think self defense is illegal in most places? Cause if you kill someone in self defense that would take away money from them cause they'd have no one to throw behind bars cause you killed them, and in most cases they'll just arrest you for self defense cause they need to make that money somehow and you just killed the person that they were going to make money off of, so now they'll just take you instead so they can still make that money. The legal system does the right thing some times, but they mostly care about themselves and how much money they can get.

      hmmm...I respectfully disagree. Death is the easy way out. That's why many of these guys are on suicide watch. Their every living moment is hell, their food is awful, they may wind up being some bigger guy's lil bitch, etc. The whole point is for them to suffer in agony day in and day out for their crimes. In Brook's case, I do believe they even ordered the garnishment and/or forfeiture of any money earned or acquired in prison to pay for the victim's expenses, the state's costs, court costs etc. Now that's what I call punitive!

      Have you ever been to jail? That is not TLC…. And I’m pretty sure everyone reading your comment knows what murder is …. Also, have you ever heard of these people who were in jail for years on murder charges, then were found innocent years later thanks to new evidence or dna ? Besides all that, to just instantly kill someone after trial….. that’s what China or Saudi Arabia would do… that should be enough right there …. I don’t see many people running to go become citizens of those two shitholes. I understand you want to express your disdain for people found guilty of murder …. But a one size fits all death penalty isn’t the answer my friend. Most of the people we saw in this video… yeah take them out that’s fine …. But there’s others that aren’t so deserving of instant death …..

      That was actually the dumbest thing I have ever seen in a court room. The whole point of a legal system is justice, not this dumb TV drama "victim" gets to speak to the defendant, it's unprofessional, pointless, and a waste of time. If you think going to a courtroom and saying your mom should have swallowed you is some kind of "you go girl!" moment, you have a weird grasp of reality.

    • @dreaminlayers

      @@mad0uche You have no idea what a 'victim impact statement" is for, do you? It's not to tell the court how the victims feel, it's not to tell the judge how the either, not completely. It's to give the victim a chance to express in their own words how the crime affected them, how it changed their lives, and how they are going to have to move forward. It's also to allow the judge to see the impact both only the crime has had on the victim, but the behavior of the defendant throughout the case, because that is the biggest sign of what the CRIMINAL is really thinking. SO yeah, letting a VICTIM day what THEY want to say and how they feel IS important. Just not to YOU.
