I hope you all get a little more familiar with these to help yourself in case of a breakdown on your heat pump.

When I had my second high efficiency boiler installed the new installer required the installation of a whole house surge suppressor. The first boiler was always having electronic troubles. Since the whole house surge suppressor was added, the new boiler has been very reliable. I think it's a good idea since everything today has multiple printed circuit cards installed inside. But, look on the bright side, you had a very good RUclips video. I watched an interesting video a few days about about how to install the whole house surge suppressor. Happy Easter Bryan and Holy - Enjoy the Journey - Cheers

I haven’t seen or heard about a whole house surge protector. Sounds expensive though. A few burnt boards and she’s paid for hey. Thanks for sharing Bob.

@@codraven57 - it's not really that expensive. I sent you an email with some information. Cheers

Yes sir, my neighbour a few doors down has had his heat pump blow twice, each time when the power has come back on, and that is what he was told to do, flip the switch for the pump when the power goes out and wait until the power comes back to turn it back on. He says it hasn't burned out since, but finds it quite a nuisance, especially when we have had the power go out on one day for about 30-60 minutes each time. I do believe that his switch is outside too. Great that you have the pellet stove for backup!!

Thanks for watching and confirming my theory of throwing the breaker on this. It’s a pain that could save you a lot of money. Thanks for the comment.

Great video buddy. I have a mini split but never researched into the issues with these things. I had mine repaired last fall but it was a coolant leak. Tech came in and replaced the coils. Good to know about the control board stuff. Thanks for doing this one. Take care.

Thanks Darrell! Yeah when you get into the gas on these you have to call the pros. The average Joe can’t buy the 410a or R12 or whatever yours has.

The internet is a marvellous thing for information and you did a great job at finding and fixing that. My heat pump is 20 years old so there is no error code screen but I believe it likely has a beep code. You saved your self an lot of money on the home call service these days they want $100 just to answer the phone.

Great job on the repair, reminded me of a power monitoring unit we had in our buildings that monitored AC power in and the Battery plant voltage and current draw in the buiding. It had a onboard battery (like a big watch battery) and every 5 or six years the battery would go and we had to take the unit out and apart to change the battery , they were a pain. Lol.

It's been my experience with power hits and fried boards that you will have troubles elsewhere on the board with damaged etching, not always but usually. Although if you get that module cheap be worth trying to have it repaired just in case

I was going to keep it but now we are moving so it won’t be my monkey or circus for much longer. If we had been staying another year I would’ve tried getting that module and have the board for a spare. Thanks for the input Garry!

@@codraven57 too bad you didn't one of my sons is an electrical engineer and he's more into the small electronics than electrical stuff building control boards and what not I'd got him to look at it and for the part lol. Now I've been trying to get them do some music for my RUclips channel because they are great musicians two years and I'm still waiting lol
