Yeah you can try it out for yourself, go to training Oni Vs Rook. Press both characters B on the same frame, then go into C parry. The parry won't activate. You have to drop parry and throw immediately. I guess Rookhugger could have done the same thing here, but he probably wasn't expecting it to happen.
IMO Good: Rook, Midori (never had problems with them, u dont care about midori parry or dragon form and u can keep rook away easily or force him to take massive dmg to get in) OK: Graves, Geiger, Valerie (normally a fair matchup were you depend on them making mistakes but can capitalize heavy on them *block after a knockdown MU*) Bad: Arg, Degrey, Lum(oni has nothing to deal with them but if you are a better player you have a chance to win) Nope: Jaina, setsuki (sadly this two are some of the most popular characters so... pray u dont need to get your last win as oni as their last two on ranked) cant comment on Quince as I never see them

It's F2P, you dolt. And those numbers aren't too much but it's a fighting game and matches are fought as 1v1, so the avg player count shouldn't baffle you.
Games like that Setsuki-Onimaru matchup makes me wonder why the fuck Sirlin isn't balancing his game. For the last three patches its been nothing but bug fixes when the main cast is still seriously unbalanced, boss rush is a mess, arcade mode is a joke, and the cast is still so small compared to most other fighting games. For goodness' sake, The Rook Hugger is one of the top 5 players in the entire game and he gets 3-0'd (with 2 perfects) by jmcrofts. I'm not saying jmcrofts isn't an amazing player, but Onimaru didn't even have a chance at winning despite being piloted by the best of the best. Instead we get nothing but radio silence or passive aggressive messages from the developer when anyone mentions any form of criticism.
Completely agree, tons of issues with some characters, who can just easily destroy other characters even if they hardly know how to use there character. They're just that broken
Frankly, I think keeping the character count low is pretty good, especially for this game. Makes it easier to learn matchups for new players and avoids diluting the game with similar characters.
setsuki feels like a real bullshit Charakter in this game. I know she's strong against onimaru, but I still feel like her combos are just a random guessing game as the defender
is she lose momentum and gets some presure she is done for. I understand that those mix ups are quite convenient, but they are not the strongest thing she has.

Buffs/rebalances for Oni and Quince have been mentioned on the Discord, Sirlin is doing the Keits approach to balance (i.e. no rushed balance patches)
