When I look at this Video, with stunning scenery and the majesty of these magnificent Mountains it makes me want to go straight round to my local Builders Merchant load up a lorry load of Timber and head straight for the Loch, build my Log Cabin, get my food delivered from Tescos and never leave again, in these troubled times the peace and tranquility would be heaven, wonderful images Sam great compositions the colors are breathtaking look forward to more adventures, take care both, Colin.
Thank you Colin, I can definitely sympathise with that sentiment, and I'm sure many others would at the moment as well. There's plenty of space up here for the cabin if you need it 😉! S.
They were looking absolutely amazing that morning! I'm not sure we're going to have much more snow now before the summer, but if we do I'll be straight back there! S.
Great video, Sam, and some fantastic images. Those images of the lone tree are spectacular, and you don't need a more dramatic sky. The almost featureless blue acts as a powerful negative space and really brings out the textures in the forground - like the lichen on the fallen branch in the vertical frame (which I prefer to the landscape) Loch Claire is definitely on my to-do list now!
It's a really wonderful walk Alan, perhaps you could plan a slight detour when you come up? Thanks for the feedback on the tree image, I guess I'm just a bit of a 'gloomy' kind of guy and like moody images! :) I actually think it could also work better if taken from further back at a longer focal length, so you don't lose the mountains in the background. Definitely planning to go back and a give that a go too. S
Absolutely amazing Sam this is the ingredient you needed to up your game (the move to Scotland). It has put amazing landscapes right on your doorstep:)
Just back after spending a few days in Torridon. I agree there are the honey spots for the photographer and one should look for unique and new areas. There is so much to find in terms of uniqueness and like yourself I believe in walking into areas and discovering new sites. Thank you for the video which gives a true feeling of the place which can be overwhelming at times.
Thank you Abbie, I hope you had a great trip here. I definitely think that finding those more unique scenes is what makes photography more rewarding. It's difficult if you don't have the time in an area to explore, but now I'm based here permanently I'm looking forward to hopefully uncovering some gems! I know what you mean about it being overwhelming here though, I'm definitely feeling that at the moment! S
Great video as usual Sam, Absolutely stunning scenery with the snow as a bonus. Stunning image's and i loved the one with the lone tree. All the best mate.
Thank you Tim! I'm not sure if I'll see much more snow up here now before the summer so it was nice to take a few images of the mountains with a wintery dusting. The snow line is definitely getting a lot higher now! S
Hi Sam: I can certainly understand why you and Hannah moved to this location. Such a stunning location! The reflections in your images are so beautiful. We are planning on going by Loch Clair on our way up to Aultbea. Your videos are so inspiring. Keep well. . . Cheers, Keith
Some stunning scenery there Sam, some great images, really liked the image at 5:30 , great reflections . Looking forward to seeing more of your images over the coming months, take care mate.
Thanks a lot Lee, this really was a stunning walk, and I was glad to catch a bit of snow on the mountains as well. I have a feeling that might be the last of the snow this year (but you never know!) S.
Great images yet again, Sam. I did that walk around the two lochs just before lockdown in 2020 and hope to go back in the not too distant future. A really special place.
It really is isn't it Rob, I'm looking forward to heading back, there's so much to photograph there! The path actually continues back over the Coulin pass to where our house is in Achnashellach too, so I might try that walk one too. S
Beautiful images Sam. Walked that walk a couple of years back and hoping to pass through again in early May when my partner and I attempt the Cape Wrath Trail. It's about the half way point. Making me long to get there. Good luck to you both on your chapter, may it be rewarding and creative.
Thank you very much Carl. Good luck with Cape Wrath trail, it looks like an epic undertaking. I've been out along the last stretch (I've stayed in Strathchallieach bothy past Sandwood a couple of times) and it is an impressive place! Would love to try it myself one day, but not sure if I'd manage it! S
Thank you Julian! I'll definitely be heading back to that tree, although I still think some moody conditions would work well (but then I think I'm just a 'moody image' type of photographer! :). Yes, we finally bit the bullet and went mirrorless. It's been on the cards for a while, but we thought we would take the plunge whilst we could! S.
Ach you'll soon tire of beautiful scenery 🤣 Looks stunning and the reflection with the boat/pier is awesome, I may venture out of Caithness some day to see what these tree things are you speak of, not to mention reflections 🙂
Yes, Caithness is as bad as Sutherland for trees 😆! Don't worry, when I get bored of the mountains, woods and trees around here (I mean, it's bound to happen soon enough) I'll head straight over to Caithness too! Thanks Andrew! S.
Nice images Sam, I'm over there heaps. Oh! Did you hear a horn honk last night going past your house at 5:45pm? Because that was me in my tour bus 🤣👍🏻 I'm gonna honk every time I pass now 🤣👍🏻 which will be wednesday, Friday and Saturday night around the same kind of time 😁
Hey Ryan, I did hear it! I wondered what it was about 🤣! We'll keep an ear out next time! We could wave handkerchiefs at you like in the Railway Children 🤣😅! If you ever fancy stopping by for a cup of tea just let me know! 👍 Also, do let me know if you fancy meeting up for a shoot next time you're in the area. S
@@BosePhotography I shall honk you on Wednesday night mate so get your hankys out 🤣👍🏻 cuppa sounds good, will definitely give you a shout when I'm over that way next and we could meet up 👍🏻👍🏻 probably soon I should imagine as my daughter lives at the bottom of Liathach 👍🏻
It's a tough decision as to whether distracting elements such as the boat and jetty you pointed out should be removed from an image. In the case of man-made structures such as those, I'd have less hesitation cloning them out, my rationale being that they're a recent addition to a landscape that's existed for millenia. Was Hannah having a sleep in?
Hi Pete, yes absolutely. Power lines actually tend to be the main issue up here. I tend to try and keep them in wherever I can, depending on what I'm trying to achieve, but what I've taken to doing is using the heal brush in photoshop to edit them out on a separate layer, and then dropping the opacity of that layer so that you can still see them but hey are less obvious. It makes me feel a bit better that I haven't just removed them entirely! That's what I ended up ding in this case, so the boat/life ring are still visible but not too much of a distraction. And yes, Hannah was having a very well deserved lie-in that morning! S

Wow the snow capped peaks are incredible with the morning glow 😍
They were looking absolutely amazing that morning! I'm not sure we're going to have much more snow now before the summer, but if we do I'll be straight back there! S.
I absolutely love these Scotland photography videos, Sam ! You are so lucky to live now in the one of the most beautiful part of the world !
Thank you Marcel, we really are, and we're not taking it for granted! It is a pretty special place up here! S
What an absolutely cracking location! Beautifully produced video too Sam, and lovely set of images.

I love the Torridon area. I've only been once, but need to get back there. Your gorgeous photos are proof why!

I’ve just come. Back from torridon. Had a walk around that loch on Friday. A great location for images.
It's a stunning location, and a great walk as well, I hope you enjoyed it! S.

Sam, that tree shot was an absolute winner, even with a blue sky. What a find! I see you’ve dragged yourself into the mirrorless age too:-)
Agree with Julian Sam, the lone tree shot is great. Keep searching out those locations.
See you out there!
Thank you Julian! I'll definitely be heading back to that tree, although I still think some moody conditions would work well (but then I think I'm just a 'moody image' type of photographer! :).
