I always enjoy watching your channel and have successfully followed your recipes , always clear and concise No loud background music or incessant chattering 👍 But in this video do u simply pour the egg yolk sauce over the tofu ? OR u place the tofu pieces into the sauce and then mix it to absorb the taste before arranging them on the plate ? That part is not shown Thanks
Hi Chef. Your face has got good Feng Shui. Lucky family. Always have food cooked with love. Followed your recipes and tips. Every single time thumbs up from fam. Simple but delicious results all the time.Thank you Chef💖 don't stop what you are doing please
Recipe looks amazing . I am going to cook this for cny. May I know is there a difference if I use butter instead of margarine for the batter. And if I can’t find knorr salted egg powder in KL, how many fresh salted egg yolks must I use
Amazing 🤩! This is luxurious eating ! Unfortunately, this CNY I suspect we will be in restricted numbers , with omicron everywhere where we live, I will delay my celebration with my children. I would like to surprise them with this dish that they can’t buy at a restaurant. I am not sure we have all the ingredients in my nearby Asian grocery right now ….delays in supply chain from the pacific. Hoping to see fuller shelves in next 2 months. Definitely a keeper to save and try in future! If I do this as good as you, my children will stop eating out 😄😄 . Thanks Roland!
Yes. We're also very sad that COVID19 has taken 2 years from our lives and they're going to take another one year away....argh...we can't wait for this pandemic to be over so that our family can gather like old times. Meanwhile, please take care. I hope you'll enjoy this recipe, at least virtually, if you can't get hold of the ingredients from your local Asian grocery. Have a wonderful weekend!
Hi, Ronan, great recipe. I wonder if I can prepare this steamed tofu in advance, and store in fridge for few days then just fry it when I want to eat them. Can this tofu be stored and kept fresh in fridge? If yes, how long can I store them?
Hello friend from Spices n Pan, just a question, the tofu still can be eaten without frying? Because I'm not allow to eat things that are deep fry, but I love your recipe of the spinach tofu, I think I can eat it as it is? Looking forward for your reply, thank you for all your beautiful recipes. Cristy
Wow looks real yummy. Roland can we prepare the tofu one day ahead? Also can use the plain soya milk from supermarket? Tqvm & gong Xi gong xi. Your "poon choy" was a praise last year 😍
Hi Lillian. Perhaps you can deep fry the tofu first before keeping them in the fridge. This is to prevent the tofu from releasing too much water. On the day itself, you can just air fry them again to make them crispy and hot. Hope this helps. Happy cooking!
It's highly likely that you won't be able to. What a shame. If you can find salted eggs, you can make the sauce from scratch. Here's a sample video for you to refer to: Super Easy Salted Egg Yolk Prawns / Chinese Crispy Shrimp Recipe ruclips.net/video/Z1HxZXwdgiU/видео.html
Hi Amerlyn, we actually didn't make the soya milk ourselves. We got them from the supermarket - from the fridge section where you can get milk. Go for the unsweetened ones. Happy cooking!
Yes you can, Gerald but please deep fry them first before keeping them in the fridge. Try not to freeze them to avoid changing the texture of the tofu. Happy cooking!
Hello i will just call you as Mr Spice N Pan, since I don't know your name, my question do you think I can used dried white bean n soak it n make my own fresh soy milk aa my husband don't want me to buy the prepared one from shop as they have sunflower seed oil or vegetable oil n he reckoned its poisonous those vegetable oil. Hope to hear from you. Beautiful food but only the vegetable oil ruined my plan to make this recipe. Thanks kindly, Cristy
Salted egg yolks with curry leaves, garlic and bird's chili is such a classic sauce with super good flavor but it can taste super rich, I cannot eat too much of it as any dish with that sauce give me UGH feeling after 😁 I tried KFC Fried Chicken in Jakarta with salted egg yolks sauce on top... too wierd combo 😆 Btw, I WANT THAT KNORR SALTED EGG YOLK POWDER!!! 😍🥰 In local chinatown here in Honolulu, I can only find a bag of real boiled salted egg yolks and it's not cheap.
Followed the recipe and made the spinach tofu from scratch. Best thing made, and it was easy peasy, except when it came to frying (never a fan of oil splattering). Any chance will you try air frying it? Ahahahha. Im such a lazy bumb. Thanks so much, another dish to my cooking dictionary, appreciate it alot.

Hi Cristy. Yes you can actually eat the tofu without deep-frying them. Happy cooking!
looks sooo gd! would it be possible to use knorr chicken stock cubes too,
Hi Shu Ning. It'd be best if you use liquid form in the tofu mixture otherwise the distribution won't be even. Hope this helps. Happy cooking!

Wooo this is extremely 🤤😋
For the crispy scallop, must put margarine? Can replace by butter?
hope this knorr salted egg powder is also available in my country sir Philippines.
We hope so too!!
This looks super yummy! I feel more confident to attempt making my own egg tofu now as well!
Happy cooking! You can do it 💪
Loved to try this dish but not sure whether or not I can get the salted egg powder here in Melbourne🤔

@@spicenpans Thank you
Hi Roland, can you let me know the spinach type? There are quite a few spinach varieties. Where can I buy the spinach from ?
Hi Bobby. This is the type- Chinese Spinach (Phuay Leng) fairprice.com.sg/product/chef-chinese-spinach-phuay-leng-250g-10355403
sir what will I substitute for scallops... coz its not available.. can I substitute for fish like blue marlin
Prawns will be great. Happy cooking, Karen!
Chef Roland, where can i buy the soya milk if i dont have the time to prep it at home?
Hi Amerlyn, we actually didn't make the soya milk ourselves. We got them from the supermarket - from the fridge section where you can get milk. Go for the unsweetened ones. Happy cooking!
There is no link to buy Knorr products online. Do we assume these products are only available in Singapore?
Hi Echo-echo, you should be able to get it from most Asian countries. Unfortunately i couldn't find the same products sold on Amazon USA.
@@spicenpans Thanx. I am in Australia so I will look for it at an asian grocer here. I am keen to try the salted egg product.
Chef, can we prepare the tofu one day beforehand since it seems to be a long process.
Hi Raymond. Yes you can. Please deep fry them first before keeping them in the fridge. Happy cooking!
An unusual recipe. Let's see if I dare to go there.
Give it a try. You can do it, Hans!
Hi! Can tofu be made ahead and freeze before fry or after fry?
Yes you can, Gerald but please deep fry them first before keeping them in the fridge. Try not to freeze them to avoid changing the texture of the tofu. Happy cooking!

Ahh...ya I don't think Knorr sells salted egg yolk powder in your part of the world. That's a shame. They should consider doing so.
I wish I can visit you during cny lol

For batter of the Crispy scallops, your video showed 90g self-raising flour, whereas your listed ingredients showed as 70g. Please clarify. Thank you!
Hi Gel. Thanks for spotting the error. 90g is correct. I’ve corrected the typo.
PS or you tell me how to make fresh soy milk, cause I heard you said this is fresh soy milk. Thank you. Regards Cristy
I’m sure this tastes good especially with the ingredients used but the spinach on top of the tofu really looks like a deep fried dish washer sponge.
But my wife is stronger than me!!! Lol.
Wahahahaha. Opps!!

Thanks so much, Linda. Happy cooking!
Not easy to do like this
