Forest Creature Haunts Reno! Halloween 2019

After only 8 years of contemplating, 3 months of work, $426.87, and 4 stilts later, my most elaborate Halloween costume to date has finally come to life. Every aspect of the design was hand-cut, dyed, and stitched entirely from scratch - and it couldn’t have been done without help from my grandma, friends, and complete strangers in the construction, filming, and transport of the whole production.

Wow that costume is incredible, too bad I've already sunk about a hundred dollars into a costume already this year, I love these 4 legged stilt spirits! They always get a reaction out of people and I would love to own one someday. Outstanding work you did on your costume btw I really love it

I used to live in Reno but moved to California years ago. Halloween was always the best in The Biggest Little City - so many of the houses were decorated and themed so elaborately. Wish I could have seen this amazing costume in person!

Thanks! The ones on my legs are a pair of kangaroo stilts (built for running and jumping,) and the ones on my arms are a pair of super tall crutches.

How did you like use the straps under the foam? im making one of these just need a tip

In this costume I sewed the foam directly onto a hoodie, though that design was pretty warm so I've since started using a leaf blower harness with backpack straps instead. Hope this helps!

Where did you get the stilts

I already had the crutches for the arms, and a friend of mine found the running stilts in a junkyard. There are definitely better places to look for stilts, though.

Is it hard to see where your going with everything in front of your face?

Absolutely haha. I could look down at my feet to see where I was stepping, but needed a spotter to let me know what was around me so I didn’t walk into anything or anybody!
