Vanguard was the most badass. and if you know how to use it the deadliest, even on the toughest difficulties.~Beat Mass Effect 2 on Insanity using the Vanguard.
Assassino275 charge in when shields break and have another shield charged up! it also works wonders in the first game (problem beign assault mastery focused on melee and the melee system in the first game is practically non-existent because it is really really clunky!)
In the first Mass Effect I felt that the biotic classes were lacking. The soldier was the obvious choice. But I love how they fixed that in ME 2 and ME 3. My favorite is Vanguard. It's more close quarters in your face style. It can be disorienting and chaotic. But, if used correctly, it is the most deadly class there is.
Lacking? The only thing you need is Lift Mastery. Period. After that the game is already over, Lift is the biotic power more broken in the first Mass Effect, so much so that we never see it again in the later games (ME2 and ME3)
@@igodreamer7096 I made this post so long ago I didn't even remember I did this. At any rate, you're totally right, Adept clears rooms. Past me didn't know what he was talking about. I still prefer soldier because of the armor. Also the biotic animations were a little janky back then.
I play on hardcore and if you pick your charges it can be a really good offensive and defensive ability since it recharges your barriers. It's also a good way to escape if you are getting swarmed. While it is true that being high risk/high reward style of play and it is riskier than most other classes the pay off is that you can clear out enemies alot quicker if you know what you are doing.
Soldier is the most under-rated class. With classes that focus on powers instead of weapons, you're basically limiting yourself to fixed amounts of damage that you can dish out at fixed intervals. For example, Incinerate. You deal 130-210 damage and have to wait 6 seconds before you can use it again. You can deal the same amount of damage with two bursts from the Vindicator, 3 quick shots from the Viper, or 1 blast from the Katana. Additionally, the damage of these weapons can be enhanced further with ammo upgrades, adrenaline rush, and headshots, and can receive damage upgrades just like tech and biotics do. There's also the fact that weapons are hitscan while most powers are projectile, and most powers become less helpful as difficulty goes up and enemies get more shields and armor.
@Zain844 yup the easiest class ever, you cant go wrong with this class, you can go at any range in battle and still beat the hell crap of your enemy faster than any other class, no need any tactic or strategy, just spam adrenaline rush and aim head shot
+Onesimo Serna Jr. THE VANGUARD LOOKS MORE INTERESTING AND COOL BUT IT IS NOT THE BEST ..I think no one is the best actually ..you just have to play with that you are more interested .
soldier and Adept are my 2 favourites as I love using the weapons and I love making things fly with biotic abilities too but I've got to say I'm enjoying playing as all the classes playing as a vanguard at the moment didn't think I'd enjoy it that much as I generally prefer to keep my enemies at a distance but it's proving to be just as much fun as the other classes in it's own way charging into targets and blasting them with a shotgun like the krogan tend to do
BTW thanks for putting all of these into one video. =) This game looks amazing, I'd better pick it up soon. I loved ME1 (played it like 4 times back when it was new) and just started a new playthrough again the other day, this time as a Soldier instead of Sentinel (my previous character). ME2 looks so much better though based on these videos. =D
in mass effect 3, infiltrator is most certainly the best class. But in me2, sniper ammo is harder to find, and the cooldown for cloak is very high. In me3 you're basically invisible the entire time
Haven't played Mass Effect yet (just got it in the mail), but this video makes engineer sound amazing. But vanguard, sentinel, infiltrator (Snake!!!) and adept all sound awesome as well. Even soldier sounds dope. How do you choose?
Definitely they did a amazing work. In the one, soldier and adept was the strongest class, be more weak the rest. Here each of all is pretty nice. Is true that vanguard was the most attractive to be the most dynamic, but not the best, mostly after some new friends on Mass Effect 3, where could make your best attack in your dead. Adepts was struggling also fight again this new friends, so in the Mass Effect 3 probably infiltrator would be the best (due to be invisible and run xD), following with sentinel and engineer.
OMG! Thank you! I thought i was the only one to notice that. Yeah i agree, this really bugs me as soldier powers arnt sopposed to be anything like engineer powers as engineers are soppost to be tactical and bring down defences and the soldier is soppost to be for brute force but however the soldier is actually one of the best classes at bringing down defences because of his disrupter ammo (overload) and incenidary ammo (incinerate). Its unbalanced how that most most of the combat moves are...
These class models look far better than the ones in the first game. The sentinel class wasn't even a viable option in the first game because he/she couldn't use any weapons proficiently and could only use light armor. The sentinel in this game looks badass!
It’s a decade old comment but you were wrong, mate. Against tough enemies soldier is the best choice. When in doubt, pull out M920 Cain and nuke their asses. All other classes (except for infiltrator) gets boring after a while.
@UKCowboy74 Good news! In ME3 it looks like you'll be able to carry any type of gun on any class. They mentioned it in an interview. The idea is that, say, Soldiers can carry 4 guns. Some classes 3, the "caster" types (adepts, sentinels) will only be able to carry 2. At least, that's the latest news on it.
yeah sentinel for diversety, or it will be solider for the cool ammo types. im sure im gonna try all the classes in the end. this is great with all the classes, then i can play this game over and over again. . thanx for the vid
It's funny, I've played Mass Effect trilogy multiple times and I've never once played a class other than soldier all the way through. But this time I've decided to play the game as a sentinel, that way I can try both biotic and tech abilities and whichever I like more, I'll play that pure specialists next(Engineer or Adept).
@Vincent13 The Engineer has Incineration which is a good against Armor and is decent on Barriers. Plus even if it's leveled to Heavy Incineration, it'll still burn more than one target.
@Fresh0nline Soldier, Sentinel and Engineer. That's the winners I assure you. When you spam a Combat Drone, mix it with Incinerates and Cryo Blasts, with a touch of Dominate, the battlefield becomes a living hell for the enemies
Infiltrators are the best. They have the smoothest gameplay. They can slow things down as they aim down the scope. A viper w/cryo ammo can freeze everyone in the room in a second, leaving everyone helpless as u finish them off with shedder ammo. Or, you can vanish and get right in their face w/the tempest using shedder ammo or w/the flamethrower. Infiltrators have by far the smoothest, stealthiest, and most effective class.
Ketenkrad96 Same, I guess we're both just boring gamers lol. This time I've decided to go through the game as sentinel, that way I can try both Biotic and tech abilities.
If u wanna beat it on insane, choose Sentinel 'cause of the extra armor and both Tech and Biotic powers U can handle any situation. Dont choose Vanguard for example for Insane mode, coz the charge skill would be really useless since enemies often might kill you in an instant if u use the skill.
Playing my first run as an badass femShep adept, and from this video I'm not sure if I'm going to do my goody to two shoes menShep as an Infiltrator or Vanguard. Engineer and Sentinel would be next and then finally Soldier. Playing my first run on the PS3, but I'll probably buy the remastered collection later on, after I get DMC5, RE8 and GOW: Ragnarok, of course. Add Bloodborne if they remaster it (or at least bump the frame rate). The Nioh collection if they don't.
I played as a Soldier the first time around, so I'll probably play a soldier again, just for consistency. However, I'm glad there's some variety this time-I'll probably give them all a try, at least.
Well, it seems that Sentinel is ideal class for you. Master in pistols and smgs, and can use some great biotic and tech powers, including tech-armor, which makes u really tough and hard to kill. Soldiers is very weapon-combat oriented class with all weapons available to use, but only 2 powers (increasing dmg and speed), so i dont think it fits your expectations. Vanguard is class great for aggresive players that like CQC, but its not so tough as soldier or sentinel and can be killed easier.
sentinel is great throughout the entire series. i dont like what they did with tech armor in ME3 tho. it looked dumb and it felt unnecessary since you only needed to activate it like once in the entire game unles you planned on exploding it which isnt the best idea on insanity. in ME2 if your shields got low you could just reactivate it and get all your shields back. in this, when your shields are down you have to wait for the recharge. idk just my opinion.
It really fit my playstyle because I could kill just about anything with the combination of prefered sniper rifle and assault rifle, while still recharging warp and overload to remove barriers and shields ridiculously fast. It just gave you levels of firepower and versatility that I felt were unmatched, as much as I love a few of the other classes.
adept leaves u defenceless when skills are recharging , also they have biotic skills making a lot less choices in taking down enemys. So your using the same moves most of the game. they are defence (keeping enemys away) They help their squad so most kills are going to squad with pull so u take them out of cover. Soilders are defencless when reloading. Then you can use a lot of ammo types and guns so a lot of options. And they are major offence fighters. They only kill their own ememys.
@onxiaftw Not really. Engineers can spam Drones, Sentinels with Assault Armor can do well, Adepts who know how to combo Singularity and Warp, Vanguards can rip through most levels with a competent player, and the Infiltrator + Assassin + Assassin Cloak + Widow = Most enemies are down in one headshot.
@AnotherExperience37 I know, on insanity even when you have shield and armor breaking abilities and the right squadmates, it takes a long time to take down shields and armor, then when the enemies are "naked" your powers don't really matter anymore because you can kill them in a couple of shots anyway :/
@DarkMysticX9 I agree. I played a Soldier the first time, which gets old pretty quick. Then, I played a Sentinel, but they're isn't anything particularly special about Tech Armor. On my third playthrough, I chose a Vanguard because they have the awesome biotic powers along with a good selection of guns. So I'd have to go with the Vanguard as my favorite.
@JSpycer I would suggest Vanguard because of the mix between soldier and adept, you can still use combo as Pull Field to pull many targets and shockwave right after to sent them flying up, but against big ones you have the charge for powerful attacks or tactical retreat ;)
@aurumer nah i think its just a wrong image. Its the achievement notice, but its showing the renegade thing, hes not really getting renegade points When i used to unlock stuff after upgrading, it used to show a paragon sign.
I picked the soldier since I love shooting and man I love my Raven. Though after looking at all the powers other classes have, I'll have to give them all a shot :P
I played as an adept and a soilder in the first one. I enjoy using the biotics, but i felt that only a pistol wasnt good enough. The soilder was very powerful in combat although no biotics. So i think im gonna be a vangaurd in this one,to get the best of both worlds. But soilder looks even more improved,so we will see.
@PMexyK123 I forgot to mention, sentinel gives you the most options. You can level up your abilities to focus on tech OR weapons, and you get biotics either way with throw.
@zeldadude18 Ok so maybe i rephrased that a little badly but lets think about it. ME3 has been in production for a while so the engine will have its bugs sorted out. ME2 has been out for almost a year so all hte bugs with ME3 engine will be ironed out so there we go. Glitches will be to a minimum.
When you said soldier was the only class to have access to an assault rifle you were wrong. I'm playing as a vanguard and I recently played a mission where you board the first collector ship and I found a pile of weapons and you have a choice of having assault rifle training or sniper rifle training which gives you access to only one of those weapons.
I think they mean tfrom the start because at the start of the game only Soldires can use the Assault rifle but yeah the collector ship mission you can pick what I would dub a bonus weapon for the rest of the game
One huge goof up with the Infiltrator’s design - snipers live and die by the One Shot One Kill maxim, so the spray ‘n pray SMGs are something no true sniper would ever bother to use. Infiltrators would be more comfortable with the assault rifle as those still allow the Infiltrator to be a long to medium range combatant. Let the close range Vanguard keep the SMG as that pairs nicely with the shotgun.
@MikkiZHskDK 1.) Yes you can. 2.) 30, gaining a level is more substantial in Me2 than in 1 (which was 60) 3.) It depends how many side quests and loyalty missions you have completed beforehand, but I'd say about half way. side quests in Me2 account for about half of the game, so there is a lot to be done.
Soldier all the way baby. Shepard is no freak.. he's just a man... a humble soldier... fighting to save the universe... If you're gonna give him powers then at least equip him with some Jedi weapons and shit.
@ImSuckk yea, but im pleased as it is. for me they've just made improvements cuz i think it was a bit to much at the first one. there were sooooo much to spend points on and so many attacks, i didnt even use 70% of them, but now i pretty much use them all
The best thing is that the three 'mixed' classes (infiltrator, sentinel, and vanguard) aren't just a mashed up version of both classes. Although they're supposed to be a hybrid classes, all three are unique in their own ways, unlike the first game. Bioware certainly knows how to make sequels... I can't imagine how they can improve on a masterpiece with Mass Effect 3.
@RockRobin360 you've already been replied, but you're not compleatly wrong, once you've compleated the game, and you've gained the loyality of your squadmembers you have the option to take one of their powers, some of them might be tech, so that must be what you saw, a vanguard with tech special powers :P, i myself is a infiltrator with biotics :D
@strikefreedomFTW I know that, I've played through as Soldier, Adept and Infiltrator already, but it looks like that's what's happening in this vid - every time the Adept gets a kill he gets a 'Renegade Increase' message.
nsanity is hard as a soldier. Can't regen some skills fast enough and enemies hit like a truck, even starter enemies do. But it is still really satisfying when you kill an enemy that was hard to take down :D Still gotta do the derelict ship tho. Damn collectors :/
The vanguard is only meant for close-range combat in ME2 which is not good (thatd be another story if u choose to pick assault rifle training during the collector ship mission).
Sentinals are ok, but adepts can be one of the most powerful and versatile classes, combine the with warp ammo bonus and an adept can easily lay waste, adepts are all about playing smart rather than bruting it out adept all the way
Every other class: Methodical use of Tech and/or Biotic powers depending on the situation.
Soldier: "So anyway, I started blasting."
Is Vanguard a joke to you? 😉
@@jordanthomas5635 yup

Soldier is the real way to go. nerds and wizard losers.

6:57 Soldier (guns, guns, guns!)
I love playing as a vanguard, it just seems so deadly and badass. I think Wrex can be classified as a vanguard, that should say enough.
Me too. I liked that they gave the vanguard biotic charge in mass effect 2 and 3. I also liked sentinel.
I remember as I watched these videos in 2009 and waited for ME2... That was incredible time.

they're really fun on lower difficulties, but on hardcore and above (maybe even on hard, not sure), charge = suicide.

@Fomarl The heavy weapon with the nuclear symbol on the side... It's pretty much a nuke firing gun
@HarpyTV In the beginning it is restricted but you can get one later just not a revenant.
@HunterX109 Soldiers are the only ones with assault rifles, but later on in the game you can choose another weapon you want to learn how to use.
Can't wait to be able to use shotguns on Adept straight out of the gate on Legendary. PULL!
I've got three characters and I'll have three characters going to the remastered with my main soldier, my second sentinel, and my third adept
@Sickoflifebandleader thanks. thats what i picked eventually.
infiltrator is arguably the most powerful class around . . one shot kills and invisibility make you invincible !
WHich is funny because Garrus can use sniper rifles and assault rifiles in all the Mass Effect games :D
THIS. GAME. IS. AWESOME.
Here we go again
@MikkiZHskDK
1.) Yes you can.
2.) 30, gaining a level is more substantial in Me2 than in 1 (which was 60)
3.) It depends how many side quests and loyalty missions you have completed beforehand, but I'd say about half way. side quests in Me2 account for about half of the game, so there is a lot to be done.
As a ultimate dlc for mass effect 3 makes a class with all of the classes abilities
even if i can pick up bullets i lose them way too fast + i like the fact that you trow them away :D
1:45 "master assassinators and covert operatives" *gets shot by two rockets*
I use the soldier through all three. mostly because I'm practically tanking and soaking up alot of the damage for Garrus and Tali
Soldier all the way baby. Shepard is no freak.. he's just a man... a humble soldier... fighting to save the universe...
If you're gonna give him powers then at least equip him with some Jedi weapons and shit.
wow they are all so awesome, im going to play either engineer, adept or infiltrator
i only play soldier, i dont like the weapon limitations for other classes, who thought that being limited to only a pistol and SMG was a good idea?
Looking back, I’m sorry to say ME2 was the peak.
@@musashi.miyamoyo couldn't agree more with a random reply from a 12 year old comment!
@strikefreedomFTW
I know that, I've played through as Soldier, Adept and Infiltrator already, but it looks like that's what's happening in this vid - every time the Adept gets a kill he gets a 'Renegade Increase' message.
charge helped quite a bit to get brawler achievements
nsanity is hard as a soldier. Can't regen some skills fast enough and enemies hit like a truck, even starter enemies do. But it is still really satisfying when you kill an enemy that was hard to take down :D Still gotta do the derelict ship tho. Damn collectors :/
The vanguard is only meant for close-range combat in ME2 which is not good (thatd be another story if u choose to pick assault rifle training during the collector ship mission).
shockwave is such an epic move
@ForsakenZOL
i really have to agree
but i would add "Mass Effect 1 & 2 are the Best Games Ever Made and I Ever Played!"
Sentinals are ok, but adepts can be one of the most powerful and versatile classes, combine the with warp ammo bonus and an adept can easily lay waste, adepts are all about playing smart rather than bruting it out
adept all the way
