@@futuregamer25 I dunno why youtube waited two weeks to tell me I got a reply Anyway, I"ll be honest if I ever ran a survival server it'd be a friends only deal and I probably wouldn't care that much if someone in that server used worldedit to make a base, because if it was available for them to use thats probably my fault
personally i think easyplace is as much of an ethical building tool as a tool in a drawing software- for some people this is their job, and much more than a game, saving time using easyplace positively affects your life outside the game, leaving you with more time. my biggest argument for easyplace being ethical is the fact that you've well... built the structure already! you said specifically it only works on litematics; that means that for it to work you have to have already built it, you shouldn't have to double the amount of time you spend working purely because you want to see how something looks before you implement it.
Honestly, Litematica's easyPlace feature is not unethical, because you still have to build the blueprint in a creative world, then get the resources for it, then clear out the area where your building it, and then you have to sort your inventory to get as much of the building materials in your inventory and THEN you can start building. Since you already spend so much time doing all the steps before you get to building, using easyPlace just speeds up the building process of it all. Everything else you still have to do manually and put time into that due to easyPlace not having any functionality to help with any of the steps prior to the final step, building the thing. So with that, easyPlace isn't unethical, it is just a QoL feature for builders who already spent so much time preparing to make the build in the server/world/whatever. While yes the floating block thing isn't right, and being able to do four blocks is also not right. But, as mentioned in the video, the placing blocks in air thing is a toggleable feature, but the four block thing is doable without easyPlace, you just have to be sneaking at the edge of the block and have the cursor aimed just right and you can place a block four blocks down.
I agree with that guy who said the bigger the project the less cheaty it is. After all, you've already spent the hours designing the project, the likely days gathering resources, more hours crafting them into what you need. At this point, you're looking at like a whole week's worth of time for a single project. Who cares if an hour goes missing because of easy place? But if you're just building the typical minecraft log cabin, then easy place because really cheaty. Mostly because of how simply unnecessary it is. Using it will save you at most a few minutes. But it's not like you can do much in those few minutes (speedrunners not included). So why not just spend them little extra time getting a better look at your build, maybe finding something to improve since you need to engage with the game more. TLDR: Bigger project is less cheaty because individual block placement is dull, repetitive and boring, and changing any details would take an hour or more. Smaller builds is more cheaty since individual block placement is more detailed and can have meaningful impact on the build, and changing details would take minutes at most. But you do you. Aside from the mid-air placement, I don't see any real issues or problems. Just a slight reduction in that sense of achievement, which I really don't like in sandbox games.
@@mrmaxmondays it will not work on vanilla servers. You actually need mods and game rules to make it work. I co-run a fabric server and twekeroo/litmatica block placement would not work untill I downloaded carpet and enabled special game modes. It might just be a fabric thing tho, and it seems to work for a second but then it rubber bands back. And no we do not have anticheat mods.
I think easyplace is unfair from the competitive scene perspective. Imagine you are on a server and need to compete by building more farms than anyone else. By removing easyplace you make competition more fair since some people may not have access to it. But on technical smps where every project is public easyplace is probably fine
I don't really care if it's cheating tbh, I play minecraft to have fun and for me fun is building massive structures in survival. there is no way I'm wasting so much time tediously placing blocks when I could be not tediously placing blocks.
EasyPlace is interesting, while I don't think it's full on cheating I don't think it's very "vanilla" either. While some things like tweakeroo's placement I can see as being an extension of vanilla, EasyPlace feels almost like a borderline hack client, just hold right click and spin your mouse around. Me and my friends prefer not to use it, doing stuff manually even with tweakeroo still gives that sense of accomplishment imo. If and when I use it I do hate the fact that you can't use containers when it's on. Overall I think it's a good optional feature but not something I would recommend to anyone.
I mean if you make a structure in creative and make it a lite file and put into survival and still have to grind resources to build it. It isn’t cheating. It’s like saying architects are cheating cuz they have blue prints
I really disagree with the idea that it does not remove a skill aspect to building. Planning how to place blocks and engaging with what you're doing vs blindly spamming right click is a huge difference. For me it's equivalent to giving yourself infinite money in a strategy game and then saying you still need to decide what order to buy things in and how to deploy troops.
Easy place, in my opinion is not cheating, you have to get the blocks and get in the place to be able to put them were they have to go, and is a tool to make building a bit more faster
Minecraft is one of those games where cheating is what you consider it to be. I'm of the opinion that you can't cheat in a single player game, and if you're on a server and everyone agrees, it's fine. Personally we deal with a lot of dissociation and brain fog, and while we only recently tested easy place while making a mob farm, it did help a lot to keep us from taking literal hours to make a few basic platforms. It can also help with things like carpal tunnel in you're avoiding constantly crouching/shuffling through your inventory, though maybe those are only triggers for me 😅 I'm not sure how I feel about the part that fixes the orientation, I haven't tested it because our server isn't capable of it, but I can imagine it would be a lifesaver for complicated redstone or builds that use things like glazed terracotta.
We all know building the this cruel trap / mass kill chamber is totally ethical but if we use a mod that makes it faster and more convenient it is still ethical?
I have better things to do than placing and breaking blocks in a repetitive and undemanding way. It's not wrong but it should take as little time as possible.
Too bad litematica doesn't have the printer mode that schematica has. It will automatically switch between up to 9 blocks and place them for you when you're in range.
Dude i think even Printer Mods are fine, at some point in your life you will realise putting hundreds of hours into a project isn't a brag, it's a threat. Like at the point the building isn't fun, but a chore, why are you even playing a game, when chores are already begging you to do them. I definitely don't want to come from work, cook, do the dishes, wash clothes etc, then sit down to play Minecraft and relax, and then build a humongous, million block project by hand, especially if i already have a schematic of it. (Well, sometimes i do, just like sometimes paint by number can be relaxing, but it's definitely not what i want to be forced to do always)

Anyway, I"ll be honest if I ever ran a survival server it'd be a friends only deal and I probably wouldn't care that much if someone in that server used worldedit to make a base, because if it was available for them to use thats probably my fault
I do hold some guilt when using litematica in general, but if I am gonna build it the same way anyway, why take the extra time to do it vanilla?

@@mrmaxmondays thank you :,(
personally i think easyplace is as much of an ethical building tool as a tool in a drawing software- for some people this is their job, and much more than a game, saving time using easyplace positively affects your life outside the game, leaving you with more time. my biggest argument for easyplace being ethical is the fact that you've well... built the structure already! you said specifically it only works on litematics; that means that for it to work you have to have already built it, you shouldn't have to double the amount of time you spend working purely because you want to see how something looks before you implement it.
Make sure to spoof your fabric client to vanilla using wurst 😉
Oh god... I missed the Vid D:
If it makes things more convenient and less boring, I don't see why it matters.
Bingo, my ADHD would never let me build large scale projects normally

I’ve never stopped to think about it-
Do you need a good computer for this Mod? I got a laptop with 50 Fps in Minecraft
Also it does not work on servers that does not have it enabled.
I know there’s ways for servers to detect it being used, wasn’t sure if it simply was not usable. Good to know!
WHEN DID U GET A CAT CAM!?!?
I mean if you make a structure in creative and make it a lite file and put into survival and still have to grind resources to build it. It isn’t cheating. It’s like saying architects are cheating cuz they have blue prints
If people think that easyPlace is unethical I think they should see someone use Litematica Printer with max settings.
With WHAT settings???
I really disagree with the idea that it does not remove a skill aspect to building. Planning how to place blocks and engaging with what you're doing vs blindly spamming right click is a huge difference. For me it's equivalent to giving yourself infinite money in a strategy game and then saying you still need to decide what order to buy things in and how to deploy troops.
Mom, can we have Litematica?
"We have Litematica at home."
Litematica at home: Structure block
My favorite version of Litematica is the Jigsaw block
am i the only one who simply doesn't care what others do and just do what they think would be cool.
this tbh^
Easy place, in my opinion is not cheating, you have to get the blocks and get in the place to be able to put them were they have to go, and is a tool to make building a bit more faster
Well said Glori:D
Looks like you'll be able to make my cube using the new axiom features
Lol true, making note of that joke-
Minecraft is one of those games where cheating is what you consider it to be.
Easy place sounds like aimbot for building.
I have better things to do than placing and breaking blocks in a repetitive and undemanding way.
It's not wrong but it should take as little time as possible.
Well put!
How can it be considered cheating if you are just re-creating a build you made in another world faster?
Too bad litematica doesn't have the printer mode that schematica has. It will automatically switch between up to 9 blocks and place them for you when you're in range.
It’s separate now but it still exists.
(Well, sometimes i do, just like sometimes paint by number can be relaxing, but it's definitely not what i want to be forced to do always)
hi Max! love the video, been considering making miself a patreon and was wondering if you were planning to add more features to the gold tier, as aside from the title it is exactly the same as silver.
Glad you mentioned that! I'm hoping to add more perks here soon, probably including some larger builds and potentially--eventually--SMP perks. More on that latter idea in the future:)

"Brain dead gaming" Like building large scale projects wasn't brain dead already
Easy place isnt a cheat in slightest as long as its in non competetive enviroment where its just show off bc its qol saving alot of time and just overall way too amazing thing
