Thank you for this video! It’s identical for 2012 Tiguan. Took me about two hours to swap out for a new one by following your video!

Thanks for this well done video. Looking forward to swapping out my alternator. I think my alternator needs replacing because I am getting an intermittent power steering failure, leading me to believe there is an electrical issue, not the actual steering rack. Battery checked. Fuses checked. Alternator appears to have some residue which looks like old leaked oil, some on the external side of the alternator, but I can see some residue inside on the coils. Seems easier to just swap out the alternator than to clean it, so looking forward to rewatching your video when I can purchase the new alternator. One thing I have not done was to purchase an OBD to run diagnostics. On my shopping list now.

@@YOUCANIC One thing I should check first is the Alternator fuse... Was not familiar with such a thing until I watched another video to check this before spending $ on the new alternator. I'll have to pull it out and put a multimeter to it... Will follow up when I find out more info.

So on my 2013 Tiguan 2.0, I do not have the fuse that other videos mentioned. Someone called it a "main fuse" or "fusage something". My fuse box did not have this thing they pointed out. Multimeter seemed to be fine. Also checked the battery again. 12.5V with engine off. 13.9V when idle. Took a picture of the "dirty" alternator. The alternator has a layer of old oil. *I'll look for a video to see if the alternator can be cleaned. Someone said to use WD40, but I'm not sure I want to go that path, as it was a temporary solution, with the intention of replacing the alternator.

All the imparitive parts you edit out 🤔🤔 that electrical connector and removing?? You obviously had the alternator out prior too you pulling it out on the video because you didnt disconnect the wiring before removing or edited that completely out
