Hey Dave! OGi K0OLG here. Yiu hooked me obtain both Technician and General operator levels. I am a poor country preacher. You are a man of learning. You mention in this video some practical things that could affect radio signals. How likelybos it that there are some spiritual realities also affecting the signals?
I've had water ingression into my baluns and isolators - worth checking - Cheers!
You could have moisture inside the balun box, there might want open the box and check the toroid, any high voltage caps, and check to see if the cable has stretched under the weight of heavy snow. G7VFY
Okay. That was sloppy. K0OLG here. You helped me obtain both technician and general class licenses. Thank you! As a country preacher to a man of learning; how likely is it there are some spiritual realities that affect the signals?
You mention only practical realities in your video, you see.
Thank you. N0QFT
Dave, at 4.00-4.30, about the CMC choke and the voltage BalUn, you are totally confused as you do always.
I understand you are talking about a hybrid BalUn.
It has a 4:1 voltage BalUn which is followed by a 1:1 CMC choke.
Regarding continuity test, wiggling test etc you may be little bit specific 🤔

@jefff2593 OK, thanks for your explanation.
I suggest you go through my comments on his videos posted previously. It might enlighten you,I believe.
Here, Dave could have drawn a 4:1 Ruthrof voltage BalUn (or whatever he mentioned here) that would be followed by an 1:1 CMC choke or Gunella current BalUn.
Wiggling the cable is one thing any would tend to do.
The questioner, Aldo, mentioned snowstorms.
It is obvious that water must have seeped into the BalUn box. Ironically, Dave talks about 'one problem ' and not many problems there.
Yes, water drenching the torroid assembly is the one problem to be attended to.
If Aldo doesn't open up the BalUn box and tests for continuity, what would he deduce?
Or else you must explain what one could conclude by doing a continuity test at the ports of a hybrid BalUn.
Dave has done more than 1000 videos.
He could always draw a picture (like he used to do, despite the fact that he is never good at, and nobody cares about the beauty of his diagrams) of the hybrid BalUn. He could have moved on how to and what to expect by a continuity test at the inner connections.
I can understand your concern and anger, but this is what and how Mr.Aldo and others could be helped by a video on this subject.
In many of his previous videos, Dave himself has confessed (and confirmed) his poor understanding in the subject of BalUns, Chokes, UnUns etc. Moreover, he has very well doubted about the role or efficacy of them in various places and applications.
Maybe you have a different take, but I don't bother.
Anyway, thanks 😊
