I think I see how that lure was intended to be used...clear water only, get a solid visual on the fish, cast lure right over on top of the fish, knock the fish unconscious either by direct strike or shockwaves resulting from the lure crashing into the water, grab your net and get your catch floating belly-up. Rinse and repeat. As a tip....on a spinning rod setup, no reason to open the bail to cast, just set your drag a few clicks away from its tightest setting, throw the lure and it'll cast plenty far just taking out your drag.

Cut it in half and mount each half in a frame, then sell both to cover your costs after making a second video of the internals. As for the lead on your bait working its way out, try a small router bit in your holes to make an upside down mushroom shape for the lead. You could probably stop the lead plugs from slipping out if you drill the lead holes at an angle so they intersect and form a single cavity, Or maybe drill at multiple angles from the same hole to form a cavity larger than the opening.
It's probably not necessary for the smaller baits that I make but I always dovetail my lead in. Drill a hole, then carve the bottom out evenly so it can't fall out.
Get ready to expose that bait, man. 10k’s on its way! Thanks as always for the awesome content. I hope you’ll make bait reviews part of your channel going forward!
You could always run a screw into the bottom of the lead hole and leave the head sticking up from the bottom of the lead hole but below the surface of the lure so the lead can pour around the screw head and lock it in place. Great video as always and yeah, cut that thing up!!

Idea for keeping your lead from working its way out of your baits: As your drilling your hole(s) drill each hole a second time but at a slight angle using the same start point for your hole. This will create a wedge of lead that can’t work its way out. Smarter Not Harder
@@benson6553 This is a very old idea used for pouring and setting concrete pillars. It is commonly use in areas with high freeze and thaw occurrences, but they ‘bell’ the bottom of the hole. I never thought it would be necessary to do for lead in a wooden bait till I saw what happened to the other lure he had made. I instantly thought concrete does the exact same thing. 💡
Guess the Quality Control department was on break when that bait was made. You'd expect a company not to sell a $1,200 bait with such a sloppy glue job on the tail fin, then having it become dislodged as easy as it did because of that glue. Not sure I'd buy a lure from them even if I could afford to after seeing that.
That's exactly what I was thinking, if I spent $1,200 on that bait I would have felt personally insulted, and sent it back the second I saw the first flaw. At that price point, you're not allowed to make mistakes. Especially mistakes that major.

Nate the way you did the review of the bait was breath taking, you need to do more reviews of different baits and critic them. To give us the knowledge of which is good and which is bad.
Do you think the lead poking through your bait is the wood swelling or shrinking with moisture gain or loss? I wonder if you had like kiln dried your wood pre or post carving if that would make a difference. Does it happen on the smaller baits too or just the XXL ones? I'm 100% not an expert or anything at all, just trying out ideas. Also I totally wanna see more bait reviews and watch you cut that one in half!
It’s the shear weight of the lead sliding out. He seals the wood so there is no moisture gain, but I don’t believe he put any sort of anchor in the lead holes.
here is a solution to the lead plug issue, make the lead a shape that holds its self in place. If you work your drill bit around a little in the bottom of the hole to make it slightly tapered with a smaller entrance then it can't fall out. You could also drill two holes and connected them for the same effect, the goal is to mechanically seal the lead in there. If you just have a cylinder the shrinking and growing of the lead in the hole could cause it to work it's way out a little bit at a time. another option might be to pour the lead into molds and glue the solid lead in there because the hot lead might be burning the wood that it touches then shrinking down a bit as it cools keeping the lead from being held inside. I'm guessing it's only shrinking tiny amounts but you might just store your big baits upside down through a few hot cold cycles to see if the plugs sink back in. Good luck and hope that helps, Happy Holidays!

Roman made makes a beautiful bait theres no doubt about that. But you going through and observing this bait and finding the flaws such as the tail just shows your professionalism and attention to detail when it comes to your craft. You sir are the true masterbaiter. Pun intended 😂
When he rips the tail piece off and then sniffs it.... Got me.
They feel very high quality and have great action. I've only tested it so far shore fishing on the minnesota river. That being said; so far, so good.
I’m traveling to Iowa from South Carolina for Christmas and I was expecting snow, but it was 70 degrees today in Cedar Rapids 😪

Amazing video Nate love you brother!!!!
I like it. And yeah we have musky baits way bigger. Heck just put it on the wall like most of my cool ones. In Wisconsin that 70* was crazy too. Like I said I like it.

I never thought I’d be in favor of a chaser being dissected but here I am🤣🤘🏽
you could probably take a small cutting disk and make some rings inside the lead holes so the lead wont back out of the larger holes. not a bait maker, just had a thought. really enjoy your videos !
I wasn't expecting to see this lure on this channel !
Half way to 10k and only 3 hours in! Can’t wait to see the dismantling video! 🤣.
