Disabling overlays is what fixed mine! Thanks so much for posting this! I was getting so pissed that I couldn't open my game.
How did you find all the apps running overlay
@@perpzero6721 I just knew that I had NVIDIA Overlays turned on and I had recently turned on Discord's overlays. Once I got rid of both of those, my game worked. :) Whichever apps are putting things in front of your game screen are probably worth trying to disable. Hope this helps :)

After 12 hours or trying to figure it out, the fix that worked for me was deleting “Randgrid.Sys” and “cod.exe” , delete “bootstrapper.exe” and files labeled bootstrapper. Then run steam & verify integrity of game files. It will redownload the missing files and then start game. My game showed in boostrapper log randgrid.sys failed to start with bootstrapper

I still have a problem with I can open the game and then it closes a second later if I'm fast enough I can get to the loading screen but then it closes and I don't know what to do.
I keep getting run in safe mode error. Choosing yes no or cancel doesn’t matter still crashes
I would hit "play" and the launcher would show up and then the game would just not load at all, even this hasnt fixed it. ive been trying for hours to fix this game that I played just a few months ago and it was fine

@@zignimus5334 I was having issues with borderlands 2 and the pre-sequel as well as cod, so I just reinstalled windows and that worked

both did not work for me. battlenet would launch the game but freezes on loading screen. it happened after season 2 reloaded update, it happens to both warzone 1 and 2. I downloaded the game on steam and it worked but my account on battlenet. I dont know what else I can do.
Sadly had tried everything on the list and still won't launch for me. Problem started when I tried to play the campaign but had to close the application.

every time i close the pc and then i get on the next day it says its no compatible for windows 8 even though im all caught up and if i somehow fix it and i turn off the pc and then i get back on it still doesnt work

This worked for me, But the really annoying part is that I've fixed my files just for it to stop working, I've fixed it twice and it still goes back to it's broken state. Does anyone know why it keeps doing this?

Played it without a problem before reinstalling my windows today and now it's stuck on 38 files failed to validate and reinstalling them isn't working at all.
Same. I dont find a solution. My mind blow up after 10 hours of trying to start the game.
The game was not launching for me. What i did i went to steam, right click on MW2 then choose Properties then Updates then change Always keep this game update to Only update when I launched it. This worked for me after trying everything from online.
It made me download the whole game again

My game crashes when I try to start a match, it looks like it's struggling in the menu. Just installed, haven't played since S2... will report back if this works

hey, I was wondering how I know if the files were fixed. steam said there were some invalid files and they had to require them. just wanted to know how I know when they have been reaquired
Just go to the downloads on steam and it would have downloaded the files. But for me i can validate the files over and over and It'll reaquire and download the same 13 files

Yeah i have been doing every method possible on here and nothing works. When I click play it says "Running now" and then closes again and I saw that it starts up as a background program and then appearantlyt it just closes

Press windows key plus R then type msconfig then check then turn off Microsoft services on start up it worked for me

if verifying the game files didnt work, then 9 times out of 10 reinstalling the game wont work. If all files are there and the game still isnt launching then the problem isnt a missing file.

mine seems to start up with the small MW2 window (usually when i played it it had a blue bar go across and load then launch) now it does a white bar and never fully launches. On steam i run the check files and it either says files failed or it downloads a small update then it still does the same thing. I have uninstalled and reinstalled and ran the file check

I found the issue for whatever reason having one drive opend fixes it

i have been trying to get this game to work, this did not work for me. i have bought the game on Battlenet. it just shuts down just after i press start on warzone 2, after i accept terms.

@@dark_._ windows complete reinstall and it worked, also, compied the game files from my other computer that has it working on their instead of redownloading them, so, one of those two things worked
i can’t danload a dlc call of duty modern warfare 2 multiplayer😢
None of it worked. Tried:
windows up to date(repair scan no errors), all drivers up to date, reinstalled the game three times(even different nvme drives), verified the files many times. Took the OC off my gpu, cpu and mem. Registry cleaned, temp files deleted, no HW errors. Benchmarks and tests run without a problem, no issue on any other games even wz1 runs fine. Disabled all apps with a clean boot through system config, no overlays on anything. Tried it on battlenet and steam. I have no more ideas 😩 running the best HW you can buy 13900k and 4090 strix. Season 2 just wont load

@@ISTHTJAYY I already reinstalled the game just to get the same thing. All my other games work smoothly without a hitch. The only thing that worked for me personally was buying the game again on the PS5 lol (not saying you should do that) just saying.
so what if none of these work?
A TEMPORARY FIX HAS BEEN FOUND. The problem for many was running the game in fullscreen. If you change the game to run in windowed it should run just fine. When you start the game just press Alt+Enter and it should go to windowed mode. After you close the game you may have to use this command to switch it to fullscreen and then back to windowed again to get it running again.

For the people thats still struggling if you have a rtx card and have the geforce app i can change the ingame graphics through their and put it as windowed mode and restart ur whole pc and try again because it worked for me.

I installed the latest GPU Driver and it broke mw2. Went back to the previous driver and it worked again. Now it doesn't work anymore. What gives, Activision needs to fix their game.
Edit: Just Updated my GPU Driver again, which it's working for now.
It's unfortunate the game breaks literally every game update.
tried literally everything on this video when I press play it doesn't run at all. I am also missing the cod.exe so I don't know if that may be the problem, I don't know what to do any other solutions many thanks.
backed up the game file and comes up with the cod small loading screen then crashes and asks if i want to run in safe mode accept then nothing big sad

ENABLE AVX!!! Nothing worked for me until i enabled AVX. If you cant find it in BIOS then open Windows PowerShell in administrator mode and type bcdedit /set xsavedisable 0

I also turned off every other thing on background like EA and ect when I turned ea on for apex legends it did not work

You should just need to use V-sync tho depending on what version you may not have that option
this game on pc is complete garbage, I have literally tried every "fix" on the web, plus a lot of my own, I have reinstalled the game 9 times, I have opened 4 trouble tickets, and still haven't been able to run the game, crashes every time I try to launch it, there are millions of pc users who have bought the game and can't even play it, and Activision doesn't give 2 shits, they need their ass sued off for advertising and knowingly selling defective software
