      I had a love hate relationship with that car. Overall I really enjoyed my time with the 335is.

    Silly review IMHO (I own a 335is). Seating position to high? Really? I'm 6"1 and I use the middle position. Handling? I use either lightweight 17" or 18" wheels with good Michelin rubber. Massive difference as the original rims are HEAVY. LSD? Get a Quaife aftermarket part. It mounts in a few hours and is even better than the M3 diff. Your launch control doesn't work? Get better tyres, then. Mine goes like a rocket w 420 WHP. Maintenance: Yes, Water pump, fuel pump, injectors etc need some attention, but the engine itself is bullet proof. And the fuel economy is 30% better than the V8 M3.

      I can respect all of these statements but I was reviewing the car as it came stock. Anything can be addressed with modifications and throwing money at it but I personally don't think its worth it on the 335is. I sold it and bought a M4 and that car was miles ahead of what my 335is could have ever been. Looking back I wish I would have bought the E92 M3 over my 335is back then.

      I can respect BOTH of your opinions. But....the OE wheels are HEAVY??? I own an e93 335i and replaced my 18's with the 19in 313M wheels that were an option on the 335is....They're made by BBS....they are forged....and they are pretty damn light....lighter then the factory 18's.
      The 335is is extremely limited and rare. It's going to be one of the few non-M cars that will actually appreciate. It's happening right now. I'd love to have gotten my hands on one before the prices went bonkers. The N54 with the DCT is an absolute riot. I also feel as if the comments about the seating position are bizarre....unless his seat was broken. My behind is literally inches off the ground when set in It's lowest setting. My e93 335i has the factory sports suspension and sports seats. Seats are identical and the suspension differences are minimal, bushings and mounts are the only differences I'm aware of.
      Anyone who stumbles upon this....if you find a clean 335is then you should buy it.

      I don't think you really know what you're talking about. I've owned all those models and currently several M models and a 335is. It's a stellar car for those in the know.

    right on the point man, i have 135i msport, being even lighter than 335i it just doesn't handle near as good as my m6 which is 400lbs heavier

    This car isn't really sending enough power to the rear wheels to warrant a LSD. If it had an LSD, you probably wouldn't be able to tell unless you track it. This generation had "e-diff" which basically simulated mechanical LSD. I think your complaint is more with the power and torque ratio rather than lack of LSD.

    • @GavinMalm
      @GavinMalm  11 дней назад

      Both my NA Miata with 130HP and my M4 with 450HP had Torsen LSDs, and they felt completely different compared to this 335is. The M4 could hook and book with all that power, but where it really shined was in the corners. The power delivery on corner exits was much more linear and stable, even when the rear got unweighted by elevation changes mid-corner. Despite its lower power, the Miata was the same-smooth, predictable, and planted.
      My old MKV GTI had an E diff, and it was pretty well-known in that community that one of the best mods, even at stock 210HP, was swapping in a Torsen LSD. That little hatch would one-wheel peel like nobody’s business! So, it’s not just about power and torque ratios-it’s how a proper LSD handles torque distribution that makes a real difference, and you can feel that, even on the street. My daily, a 2022 Powerstroke, has an open diff unless it’s locked, and it feels very similar to the sensation of the 335is. In both cases, the torque can easily overcome the tires' grip, lighting up the passenger rear tire and causing that tail-wagging effect.

      Guillermo Felipe Iturriaga Reyes I don’t know about that. My family has had many of the current generation and they have been incredibly reliable. All they have ever needed was oil and tires. Brake pads, especially if you get the 4 piston front calipers with the M Sport Package, last at least 60k miles. I think once BMW got over the N54 hump and added the N55 to the lineup, they gained a lot of reliability. Heck, they are the second most reliable German car manufacturer behind Porsche (which is right under Lexus). My experience here is with the F30 3 series generation. The 328i and 330i to be exact (N20 and B48). They handle amazingly well too!
