  • Grieving the loss of my cat has been much heavier than I anticipated. I knew it would be hard, but the heaviness of the pain has been so intense that I decided to make this video and share my story for anyone who is currently experiencing the loss of a pet. I felt that by sharing where I'm at in the journey and how I'm feeling you may not feel so alone. It has helped to watch RUclips videos to see what others have gone through, so I wanted to give back and create one as well. Hopefully this video helps.
I found this video to be a great source of comfort:

Note: This video is not sponsored by Chewy...I just really appreciated their kindness and wanted to share...because sadly, it's rare to receive that level of kindness from a company these days and it was truly appreciated.

My 16 yo baby just got diagnosed with kidney cancer, he is eating and drinking but is losing weight as of now he isn't in pain. When I took him to the vet I think he expected them to fix it because that's always been the case. He was purring and relaxed. Right now I'm in anticipatory grief, which is just the beginning of my grieving process. My boyfriend is away for training so I'm alone for now. I have been beating myself up because I did notice something, but the vet told me that no matter how early they caught it the result would have been the same. Unless I was interested in spending money on torturing my cat to try and get some more time with him. I'm not doing that to my baby, not at 16. I love him too much. I can't believe he's leaving me after 16 years. I don't work from home anymore, my company put an end to that, these days in the office are hard, I want to spend every waking hour with him. I so don't want him to leave me forever.

"a pet is in so many ways harder than losing a human" Ok crazy cat lady! I love animals and have had a few pets in my life, and its always heartbreaking to lose... BUT MORE SO THAN A HUMAN? LIKE A FAMILY MEMBER? Id hate to be your family member

Thank you for taking the time to watch my video. I've placed two links in the description of my video. One of the links is to a Ted Talk that goes into grief and loss with pets and the second is the first video I created the week my cat Simon passed where I explain that I'm not comparing his loss to family. Hopefully these videos will help you if you have lost a pet or loose one in the future...and yes, I will proudly take the title of Cat Lady in reference to my cat Simon, I loved him (and still do) with my whole heart.
