    Season 4 is just a nightmare in Eve’s head, her scream at the end is waking up from it like she did in her very first scene. The real ending is the bridge scene at the end of Season 3, you decide from if Eve and Villanelle had their happy ending.

    • @Jumbaride

      Have you heard any of the writers, directors, or actors say this on record? In all the interviews I've watched or read, no one involved with the finale has stated anything close to what you posted. If you came up with that on your own, they should have hired you to do damage control in the press, because your theory is absolutely genius. I think your explanation would have given fans a little bit of peace and maybe even hope that the characters could be revisited later.

      @@Jumbaride There is a scene in the last Luke Jennings book (Killing Eve: Die for Me) where Villanelle drifts away under water, Eve can't reach her and then wakes up -- it just was a nightmare.

      @@StefanThiesen I say we do a series starring Jodie Comer called "Villanelle". In the opening, we learn everything found in this thread and then move on to follow Villanelle after walking away from Eve on the bridge.

      @@Jumbaride Aside from the practicalities (e.g. financing, rights, convincing JC) I'm not sure if the majority of thefandom would want to see Villanelle without Eve. The entire show, also the books, are driven by their mutual attraction. Also: not just this thread. There is a hell of a lot material at the Reddit Killing Eve section. Villanelle once said to Eve "Don't forget -- the only thing that makes you interesting is me." I'd say that goes in both directions.

    • @Jumbaride
      @Jumbaride 3 месяца назад +2

      @@StefanThiesen I respectfully disagree. There are plenty in the fandom who thought Sandra Oh overacted and would take or leave Eve. Since Sandra Oh has been emphatic in multiple interviews that she refuses to revisit characters, it seems the only path forward is continuing the adventures, romances, setbacks, and growth of everyone's favorite antihero. I am absolutely confident if Jodie Comer came back for a "Villanelle" series, the fandom would gladly jump on that train. Also, Jodie's star is much brighter now than it was, so I would imagine that her solo series would bring in a new audience as well.

    I'm late to the party, but I just watched the finale last night. I HATED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not only the fact that they 'buried their gay', but it was also just a stupid point to end it. As if Eve would have let that go. She would have made it her life's mission to find out who killed Villanelle and once discovering it was Caroline she would have ended her. That's at least another season right there. Anyway, I've rewritten it in my head, Eve and Villanelle are currently living in Cuba, retired and have a rescue pup called Kenny and a great wine collection.

      I finished it last night I couldnt believe how bad that ending was, the amount of open storylines but in an annoying way not in a clever christopher nolan style "open to interpretations" way, unanswered questions detrimental to the story, pointless new characters that went nowhere, weird against type writing decisions, weird time jumps like she was helping married women kill their husbands one second next that whole thing is done, to me it was just sloppy, unfinished and rushed just a stupid ending

      In the interview with the writers of Killing eve, they said they were trying to find a good way to end things and this just seemed like the most better ending. The title 'killing eve' was meant not physically but mentally killing eve at the end. Seeing villanelle gone killed her as a person and so, it starts making sense?
      The ending definetly was terrible but it was always going to lead up somehow

    Mixed? More like unanimously negative. Jodie Comer in her assessment of the piss poor final ending of Killing Eve without laying blame on anyone's door and her desired fate for the Villanelle character which never materialized she was as diplomatic as she possibly could be. Especially since as a rising star in both theatre and cinema, she's in no position to be that outspoken without the risk of burning bridges too early in her career.

    Good thing I figured out the ending before watching it. Couldn’t have handled Villanelle dying. Very interesting show idea altogether and blows the uniqueness for a love story out of the park. Married female detective falls in love with psychopath assassin she’s trying to arrest. Seems like an idea that couldn’t actually make a good script because of how goofy it is, but they did great for the first 3 seasons.

      When Carolyn asked her if Pam wanted the job she said no and walked away with a smile. Taking Konstantin's advice that Pam had options for a normal life and urged her to get out of " The Life". Feeling so guilty for killing him with a pizza cutter( nice touch ) after learning Helena was dead and she didn't need to kill him. She travels to Carolyn in person to deliver the letter. Fulfilling Konstantin's final wishes.

    I have to hope some *brilliant soul* will come along and give us the happy closure we ache for and that Villanelle and Eve deserve. It doesn’t even need to be a whole season-a 2 hr special would do it...where Villanelle _does in fact_ crawl out of the River Thames or is found by Eve on the shore, they recalibrate and seek to take out Carolyn (a whole 11 1/2 of the 12, I feel like at this point 😑), take her out and finally the two of them get their happy ending.. even if it’s running back into a life of espionage with a morally questionable justice system.🖤

    A lot of people didn’t like the ending, but I personally saw the ending as pretty inevitable and realistic.
    We saw throughout the whole show that she was incapable of maintaining relationships and led a very chaotic life due to her sadistic nature and occupation. Although it’s the nicer ending, when you think about it, it realistically doesn’t really make much sense for her going off and having a stable life/happy relationship with Eve to actually work out. (It was more of an unhealthy obsessions)
    I don’t think that her death takes away from how great her character was, and brought her story to a natural conclusion that she really was a pawn all along, and that it’s the creators of the game who always win in the end.

    Jodie is more awkward and contradictory talking about the show than Sandra. Sandra had strong opinions about how it should go and how it should end for Eve & Villanelle and as an Executive Producer she was a major influence on the show's writing. It was Sandra who suggested a lead should die to Laura Neal. The show ran with that for a while but then changed who would die from Eve to Villanelle. Jodie was fully consulted about all this and agreed for her character to die so it's something she was involved in. She wasn't just following the script.

    • @Howdareyou123
      @Howdareyou123 7 месяцев назад +2

      It has nothing to do with Sandra. Don't blame it on her, she's also clearly showing a disapproving of the ending. Jodie is not stupid or weak not to show her opinions & thoughts for her character wherein even season 3 is mostly about her character. Before the pandemic, it was the writers who had the initial story plot for season 4, they wanted to kill one of the main leads in the end, and Sandra is the one who insisted that they should kill Eve since it was already hinted in the title itself, but since the pandemic happened, everything was delayed, and some of the writers changed, and Laura Neal who's the head writer insisted that they should follow the initial plot but it's should be Villanelle and not Eve, since it will tell how a woman will survive in her greatest loss in life, it's Laura Neal's idea to kill one of them and she's also the one who chose who will die in the end, and even Sandra being one of the producers can't bring herself to oppose it, especially there are some producers also and the Network itself backing up Laura's ideas to kill V in the end, they approve Laura''s justification. It was the show-runners who totally ruined the story and the characters. Also, Sandra & Jodie were only given scripts and mostly got informed during the shootings (this is according to Jodie & Sandra) so they didn't have any time to change or discuss if there will be changes, so in the end the cast doesn't have any chance to oppose and just accept what it is. During promotion, Sandra & Jodie are trying to cooperate with the PR marketing of the show runners, but they are obviously showing disapproval even in the face of being professionals.
      Edit: Also, BOTH Sandra & Jodie were executive producers of the show.

    • @levitation25
      @levitation25 7 месяцев назад +1

      @@Howdareyou123 Don't blame it on Laura Neal. The fans who constantly criticise this woman with their FLN campaign make her the scapegoat but the show was already heading for a bad outcome and a lead or two dying. Just look at the S2 ending that is how Jodie, Sandra, Emerald etc saw the show ending. They thought it would end in disaster. Laura Neal wrote kisses into two different episodes for Eve & Villanelle and yet she is called homophobic by fans. It's clear from the articles, interviews etc that Jodie and Sandra believed in a bad outcome and Sandra in the Deadline interview pressed Laura to kill her character. Laura agreed to this and it was changed to Villanelle about 6 months later. Why the change? Perhaps because one of the writers posted a photo of the writers room and there was a backlash because they were all white? Critics said how can they write for an Asian-American character? Maybe the show got concerned that killing Eve would result in further accusations of racism? Anyhow for me they all shared the blame for that terrible series and that terrible ending. If Jodie and Sandra had wanted a happier ending they would have got it but for Jodie and Sandra it wasn't that kind of show, not one where you get a happy ending. I think that's sad and they ruined what was at one time a great show.
