Hi Steve! Question... I see that SoFi offers a HYSA along with a checking account. But, do you still recommend opening a checking account with, let's say, Discover? Or just use the one SoFi offers? What's best in your opinion? Thank you in advance (:

HSA if you're healthy/into fitness/gym + employer's contribution. Until you have over a certain amount, you can start investing in mutual funds with that excess amount.

    Several questions about an HYSA:
-Can unemployed people open HYSAs with So-Fi?
-Is there a minimum balance you need to have in order to actually get ≥4% APY (maybe even 5%)
-Are there any caps on how much you can actually have in that account?
-How much would you typically pay in taxes on it per year, considering it’s a source of passive income?

      - you should be able to open one without income
      - no minimum balance but need to set up direct deposit
      - no caps
      - 10-15% of the interest accumulated

I agree school should have been a required grade, plus prisoners upon getting g ready for release should be required to complete this course as well.

High yield checking account requirements are a hassle that encourage you to use your debit card, which offers fewer consumer protections than using your credit card. (Also, you're undercutting credit card rewards.) And if you don't use your debit card enough, waive good-bye to the high yield. You may even need to pay a fee.

How do you feel about investing in education? I'm looking at obtaining a masters in psych. Starting pay is around 120k, but I'd have to take some student loans if I want to get it done in 2 years and none if I get it done in 5 years.

I like it as long as you are growing your skills and improve your financial situation

Make sure you look into companies/ where you can apply to get the 120k
I have an MS and saw that I should be making like $110k but getting that job is difficult...
Even with my BS everyone told me I would be making 100k EASY
Lol, my first job gave me 50k a year
None of the 100k positions wanted to hire me, and they still don't 4 years later 😂 (bs is biochem, Ms is forensic chem)

After I open the Roth IRA and connect my bank account do I just deposit money in there and that is all or do I need to allocate that deposit to something?

Hi Steve, where can I find information about opening an IRA being a non - us citizen? I’m legally in the us, going to be for a few years, but I don’t know if I can have access to a roth ira or contribute to it even after I leave the country for good
