  • Is Xanathar's Guide to Everything a MUST have D&D 5th Edition book to add to your library? I'm going to go over some of my favorite things that are found in this 2017 publication, and you can decide for yourself. It's been a great purchase to add to my collection of D&D books and I'll admit I use it quite often! Let me know what you think in the comments below...

Also check out my video comparing Volo's Guide to Monsters and Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes here:
    ruclips.net/video/gP-xWeYC2jA/видео.html
I also went ahead and used the backstory tables in Xanathar's Guide to Everything and rolled up an easy back story! Here's my results:
I rolled for a Halfing Rogue with the criminal background and these are the results...
    - I do not know who my parents are (go figure lol)
    - but I do know I was born at home
    - I have 3 siblings and I am the youngest
    - My mother was mysteriously taken away and my father died from an apparent suicide (they used to live a modest lifestyle but for some reason were living on the streets)
    - I spent most of my childhood alone, with no close friends (other than my 2 older siblings)
    - I became a criminal because my siblings taught me to prepare me for the family business (oh this is getting good!)
    - I became a rogue because I'm a sucker for a shiny bauble or a sack of coins, as long as I can get my hands on it without risking life and limb.
    - I'm now 35 years old and when I was 28 I met a friendly halfling fighter soldier that was a big influence on me, he is still alive but doing poorly due to an injury
These tables were really fun to roll on! I'm likely going to use them to develop the my backstory next time I make a new character!
I encourage you to try them out!

Nice video. I'd say it's the essential 'second buy' for players who want to expand on their character options. There's such a wealth of stuff in there.

All the other sub-classes drew me in initially! Then when I really starting looking around I found myself saying "oooooh I didn't know this was in here, ooooooh I didn't know that was in here"! LOL It's a great book 😊

Great vid. :) I originally started playing and running with AD&D 2nd. Stocked UP on 3.5. Havn't played in years though. Started watching vid's in the last while, and I'm almost hooked to actually invest again. Even with the Everything add-ons, still looks very streamlined. Especially as it looks like getting the tri-core, Xan and Tash, and I probably won't need to worry about anything again. Just heading over for your Vol and Mordy vid. :)
Thanks again. This is probably the best condensed yet thorough review I've stumbled across. :)

You can go to the D&D website and download the basic rules for free if you want to see how different the game is now from the version you used to play!?

I have a physical copy of it and I've used some of the content in there a fair bit. I think I need to look at the backstory tables as I'm struggling to get inspired for my Leonin Wizard.

The backstory part is pretty cool! You can pick from the tables what you like, or roll the dice if you want more randomness! Such a great book - and thanks so much for watching 🎲🤓

I recently purchased Tasha's guide to everything, would you still recommend Xanathar's guide to everything?

    • @KristensEpicAdventures
      @KristensEpicAdventures  3 года назад +2

If you are a player, Xanathar's offers even more subclasses. If you are a DM, it has some more tools like random encounters, traps and downtime activities. So I guess the decision to get both depends on your budget and the content you are after. Thanks so much for watching!

  • @B42UC4

This sort of shows why Tasha's pales in comparison. This one has more useful stuff in it.

Tasha's has some pretty awesome subclasses in it too! I will actually be doing a video on Tasha's some time in Dec or Jan.... Thanks for watching!
