Nice job on the walling, with good all round joinery work you have done , the hoppers look good and with the rear light adding that bit more , all coming along good
Always impressed with how neat/crisp the edges are on your scalescenes based walls etc...lend me some of your patience! Like the tail lights, didn't know about train tech but according to their website you can trim that kit and fit a smaller battery to squeeze them in n gauge wagons, might try it when I fancy a challenge!
Hi Simon...I think a pack of patience can be pre ordered from Hattons for £10000 lol. Thanks for your kind comments. It makes it worthwhile when I get positive feedback. Try the train tech stuff, its easy and quick to use! Dave
Hi, greetings from Canada. I just subscribed to your channel and am I enjoying your videos and catching up with your progress. I've always been interested in British railways and modelling and am considering building a small N scale (gauge) layout to accommodate my growing collection of British models. Channels such as yours are very informative and helpful. Thanks for sharing your layout with us and keep the updates coming! Best regards, Frank.
Hi Frank, so glad you like what I am doing, its good to have positive comments such as yours. The British railway scene is growing in popularity and I hope you go ahead and build your n gauge layout and put your progress on you tube as well. Thanks. Dave
The road should look really good when you get it done. I like that Train-Tech lighting stuff. I have 3 tail lights and a rake of passenger coaches I've lit inside. Smart stuff they have. Your rake of hopper wagons look really superb. The Class 47 in Scotrail livery is good looking too. Rob
Cheers, I don't think I am making much progress until I stand back and look at what I have done!...really want to get ballast, details etc in to the scene but I need to work my way through this part quite methodically! Glad you liked the latest update. Dave
DaveClass47 I think what you've done, you've done very very well & also that you've done a lot in a relatively short spell of time. In any case, theres no prizes for finishing quickly, which is just as well in my case...!
lol, Yeah I don't want to rush it and make a mess of it and then end up changing things again! I enjoy the measured, thought out approach, even if it doesn't look like much is progressing. Cheers
Happy new year dave. Another great update and very impressive building skills you have.looking forwards to seeing your layout progress throughout 2014 and at this rate you will be finished before me as i have not spent any time on mine for ages. regards terry
Cheers Terry, appreciate your comments as always. I prob wont be finished this side of the layout until 2025 with the pace of my progress lol. There is no rush, we all get there in the end I suppose. I will be looking closely at your road when it comes to laying tarmac on my road bridge, as I think your road surface looks great. Cheers. Dave
Hi Dave nice update I fitted those train tech lights back in may last year and a couple of the batteries are just giving out they look great that's some rake of wagons looks good that will keep you busy if you weather them just done a video on weathering some presflo wagons great fun cheers Kevin
Another great video Dave, the layout is coming along great. Really good work on the walls and the rear light on the hoppers finishes them off perfect. Look forward to see what you do next. Cheers Mike
Yeah, so had I, so I just bought one to see how good it was...I would definitely recommend them! Took me about 30mins to fit after it had all been painted up before hand. Cheers. Dave
Nice update Dave, will have a look at the tale lights one day they look smart on the back of that truck, doing a great job with the retaining wall tho, looking forward to your next update Andy
Cheers Andy. You never know I might get it finished before Hornby release the HST I have been waiting years for....then it will look Edinburgh Waverley with an east coast HST at the outer platform! Dave
Hi dave Incase you dont already know, if you buy feb edition of model rail magazine, inside there is a four page supliment on building OHLE including spacing etc.it should have all the info you need pal as i know we have spoke on this subject a few time before. hope this has been of any help to you. terry
Hi Terry, thanks, I will have a look! Yeah the spacing is a realism v what looks right trade off...I am going to use the Dapol stuff and see how that looks... no confident enough to do what you did with your gantries, which looks awesome! Dave
How often have you found yourself changing these batteries? Going to look into making something similar with this inspiration, would you recommend the idea of making one that will pick up the current on the bogey of the wagon wheels from the current on a DCC track too?
Great video and layout - love the angel on the bridge approach - a real use for COS, TAN, SIN - who knew ! Your video quality is also excellent - what camera do you use ? Chris
The flashing tail light is a real addition to the detail. I think that the small detail you are including adds a lot of atmosphere and realism to the layout, The retaining walls are excellent and provide an excellent backdrop for the moving diesels. I have a couple of questions. Do you know the era for the flashing rear light ie over what period were they used. Secondly do you know if they are produced in N gauge. One of the things I enjoy with both your and Everard junction's videos is the high standard of the video itself. Regards, Anthony Ashley
Anthony Ashley Hi, check out train tech's website to see if they do the n gauge light....there are flickering ones you get too I think, depending on era. The 1970 onwards saw the flashing one, but I am sure they would fit right in with a 60's layout too. Thanks for your comments, I try to make my videos interesting, informative and I try not to take myself too seriously. lol Dave
Nice update Dave.Like that flashing tail light.Must check if they do them for N gauge. You from Bonnie Scotland by any chance? Look forward to your next update.A belated Happy New Year. Jack.
Lookin realy good now Dave I've now got the shed built on my layout as you probley know by now am make a full size model of Tinsley depot and yard so lots to do it's taken two years to build the she'd let me know your email address and I'll send you some pictures only got them on face book at the moment cheers dave
Hi, yeah download it from Scalescenes.com. They have many varieties! Once printed it needs sealed with spray varnish to protect it from water/moisture. I do this before I cut it out or mount it on to the card. Hope you find a brick style to suit you. Cheers. Dave

Superb workmanship as normal Dave, a very inspirational video too. Well done mate. ...........Graham
Cheers Graham, nice of you to say that. I am plodding on with the construction, I hope it will be completed for my February update!

Cheers Rob, I am thinking about using woodland scenic road paint etc for it! I will get it done sometime in the future! Dave
Fine vid as usual. I think i would add the light to a brake van, so you always know the rear wagon, also for shunting etc. Thx again.
Thoroughly enjoyable update - thanks for sharing!

thumbs up for that sir..
How often have you found yourself changing these batteries? Going to look into making something similar with this inspiration, would you recommend the idea of making one that will pick up the current on the bogey of the wagon wheels from the current on a DCC track too?
Gary Ashbridge hi... I’m still on the same battery! :-)
Great video and layout - love the angel on the bridge approach - a real use for COS, TAN, SIN - who knew ! Your video quality is also excellent - what camera do you use ?
Chris
I use my Panasonic Lumix point and shoot normal camera with Full HD film, I just use the video function on it. It saves me buying a real camcorder!

Hi, thanks! Yeah a proud Scottish and British man here lol.
Nice.
I must have missed this update on my news feed !! Anyway I really enjoyed seeing the progress :) What hoppers are they ? Lewis
Hornby HFA hoppers. The new tooling ones, collected them from various sources at about £18 each!
Codes are R6333A, R6333B and R6333C. More likely still to get some B and C codes around, the 'A''s are rarer now.
Great thanks
