In the "Black Spetember" event. Jordan faced an existential threat, therefore General Zia decided to help them. The number of casualities has been exaggerated by the Palestinian parties to accumulate sympathies of the wider muslim world. However, neutral observers put the number of Palestinian of death toll at arount 3.400-4.000.
Yasser Arafat, at the time even exxaggerated the number to be high as 25.000. This was clearly a propaganda trick. Even still, even if 4.000 died the entire blamed can't be put on General Zia, he was another commander alongside the Jordanians, and he only managed one division, not the whole army.
So people who blame him for black september, should do more research on this issue.

Islamic law should be looked at in its entirety. Obviously Hudd punishments are only given with the presence of 4 sane vitnesses but these punishments are supposed to be detterents and not a norm. Judges can give other punishments like time in prison if other evidences are presented. Applying any islamic law half-heartedly will only cause chaos and dissatisfaction among the masses. May Allah give us the ability and knowledge to apply his laws with conviction.

    Zia: The Butcher of Palestinians
    (Three Heading Read)
    1- Background:
In June 1970, an anti aircraft regiment of Pakistan army arrived in Amman at the request of King Hussain for the protection of Jordanian airspace against Syrian & Israeli airforce but it had no combat role.
At that time, Pakistani ambassador in Delhi had cautioned Mr. “Tayyab Siddiqui” (Pakistan’s ambassador to Jordan) against the surreptitious induction of Indian army officers belonging to RAW in PLO & PLFP ranks.
Their task was to sow doubts regarding Pakistan among Palestinians. On 2nd September, Brig. Zia called Ambassador Tayyab & informed him that King Hussain had asked him (Zia) to take over the command of 3rd Armoured Division which was stationed at Irbid (a town close to Syrian border).
2- Black September & the Syrian involvement:
At that time, the Syrian ground forces had entered inside the Jordanian territory with an Armoured Brigade to support PLO (Palestine Liberation Organisation) which was fighting against the Jordanian troops. Brig. Zia had told the King that he need political clearance from Islamabad before taking any step.
Ambassador Tayyab called Islamabad but the telephone connections were dead. He then established contact with Foreign Secretary “Sultan Muhammad Khan,” who declined him (Tayyab) to give any instructions & advised him to contact the military brass.
Mr. Tayyab then contacted Ghiasuddin (former Secretary General Defence). To an utter horror & without any moments of hesitation, Ghias gave Tayyab, the “Green Signal.”
3- Zia’s involvement in Palestinian genocide:
When Tayyab tried to explain the implications, he was cut short with a brief remark: “We had Istikhara, Hashmite kingdom’s star is ascendant. Go ahead. Follow King’s commands.” This was the foreign policy of Pakistan back in 1970s, which was formulated not on a dispassionate analysis but on religious invocation.
Brig. Zia accordingly took over the command in Irbid, but before any military operation, the Syrians & PLO withdrew due to intense international pressure. This was the sum of total Pakistan’s role & Zia’s involvement in the alleged killing of Palestinians.
According to Ambassador Tayyab Siddiqui, when he had an assignment in Cairo as Pakistan’s ambassador (from 1997-1999), he had quite a few occasions to meet Yasir Arafat during Arab League meetings & he found no bitterness in him about Zia’s alleged role as “Butcher of Palestinians.”

This fellow is merely parroting desi Pakistani liberal lies about Zia Ul Haqq. Zia was only a military attache. This is pure nonsense. The Jordanian army was one of best armies in the mid east. They did not need Zia. A military attache of a foreign country is not given charge active military operations. Such nonsense is repeated ad nauseum. Disobeying GHQ orders ends a military officer’s career.
This sort of Islamabad drawing room gossip degrades reliance on your podcast.
    What nonsense!

Absolutely, but sometimes it angers me when an average Pakistani starts abusing their country and questions the creation of Pakistan the Pakistani Nation is the only nation in the world where they love to abuse or criticize its country while living, and eating in their own country. Thanks, Almighty Allah for everything that we got a piece of land made with our great-grandparents otherwise we would be living in worse conditions like how the Indian Muslims are living in the terror of fear.
