    A harder approach needs to be taken when a student is known to have made threats of violence as this shooter did last year. No consequences equals no lesson. If kids are expelled if they make serious threats and parents must home school, the parents will take it more seriously.

      That being said, anyone anonymous caller can get a kid suspended which doesn’t seem fair.
      Also, this will lead to kids not posting it online and doing it on their own.

    • @Charlotte-nk8mh
      @Charlotte-nk8mh Месяц назад

      @@viviorko Anonymous calls would be investigated and false accusations would have serious repercussions.
      Kids not posting their intent, but taking action on their own as a result of being expelled, would have to be home schooled with parental control. No, not fool-proof, but if a student known to have been expelled approached the school with a weapon, security would surely know what the kid looked like and would stand a better chance of preventing the potential shooter interior access.
      In short, there has to be a better way of protecting children, school workers and educators. Responsibility and consequences must be a big part of it. Clearly, we must do better.

They didn't round up known individuals who have threatened schools (the gunmen was one of them), and they didn't immediately go to lockdown when school started and search the lockers/school. The school district needs to be sued by every single person involved. It is unacceptable that nothing was done. I'm a teacher and I am ticked off. When is the last time you heard of a shooting, in a secure American, corporate employment, complex? How about one of those federal buildings, in Washington DC.? Matter of fact, when is the last time a TSA unit at any of America's airports, intercepted someone, carrying a gun, in those xray, machines? Now why can't school municipalities around the country, offer that same level of protection and security, to our children? Young lives should matter, too.

    The fact that I live so close to where the shooting happened and I was in school, I have the hours that the shooting happened. They put us underneath a soft lockdown drill. It wasn’t really a drill. I learned once my mom picked me up. She said that there had been a huge shooting, Appalachia high school, my friend has an older brother who graduated last year but also my past babysitter has gone there last year. Her brother is still in there and was one of the nine who were injured.

      Response for people saying the gun was the problem. How many murders are taken place with knives, bats, axes, hammers, list goes on and on, these blunt force and sharp object deaths are wayyy more brutal than shooting someone. But we don’t try to make laws against those as much as firearms. People push the laws on firearms because they’re inferior at killing speed rather than brutal blunt force trauma and slicing someone to pieces. Please don’t spew dumb stuff if u don’t know what’s happening
