- Cracks have begun to show in Israel's war cabinet over the future of the Gaza Strip. Former defense minister Benny Gantz is threatening to resign from the cabinet unless the government comes up with a concrete plan for a post-war Gaza. He had joined as a show of unity after Hamas launched the October 7 terrorist attack. Now, Gantz has set a three week deadline, ramping up the pressure on prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Meanwhile, fighting between Israel and Hamas is intensifying. Northern Gaza is seeing some of the fiercest battles of the war so far, months after Israel declared the end of operations in the area. While in the south, hundreds of thousands flee fighting in Rafah, many of them not for the first time.

Underpinning the debate over a post-decimation Gaza regime is the external regime change pressure being brought to bear in *Israel*. While we're supporting Israel, we're also pulling levers to pressure Netanyahu out of office; just because we don't like him individually. His policy with regard to Gaza represents consensus Israeli opinion, so all we're really doing is meddling in Israeli politics, which we don't control because Israel won't admit it's a client state.
Netanyahu has every right to feel betrayed. Frankly, I think it's a very cynical strategy to give a bearhug to his policy while using him as a scapegoat. Internal Israeli politics aren't the most important thing in the world and these protests are obviously encouraged by the west and obviously going nowhere.
