John Denver had loads of great songs and such a pure voice. He was a folk singer rather than a country singer and wrote most of his songs. He was also an environmentalist before most people knew what one was. He sounds just as good live as he did on the studio versions. Unfortunately he died far too young in a plane crash whilst testing a new plane.
@spacefanatic Yes, it was ashame that he died so young! Very talented man with a great voice! Question? What is the difference between country and folk?
"Live" is great, for those who know the song well, but it's always going to be off a bit from the studio, which is how we came to know and love these songs. The fullness and purity of studio sound is just beautiful.
@@menoftomorrowchannel everyone does but most Live performances vary and subtract in many ways from what made the song popular. Because I know the songs so well, I cringe a bit when the Live is chosen over the studio sometimes, because I know what you're missing out on. A hint for your channel: you can always double up, studio first then Live, and get twice the views. Then you get to hear the difference and appreciate the song as they meant for it to be heard. This song in particular is a prime example. Cheers!
John is my favorite, saw him in 1975. His guitarist, James Burton, was a legend himself, and was in Elvis' band until his death. I saw an interview of James Burton where he said John was an excellent and underrated guitarist; pretty high praise. John was one of the best entertainers ever. Please react to more of John's music, it's all great. Thank you!
I listened to "The Wildlife Concert" every day in High School and I still love it! That had an all-star cast with Pete Huttlinger on guitar in that song, Elvis' former guitar James Bacon, and Jim Horn on woodwinds! My favorite song from that concert is "Poems, Prayers, and Promises" (which is my favorite song ever) and did a great version of "I'm Sorry" and "Rhymes and Reasons!"
I never saw John, in TV, on stage, or on the big screen when he didn’t make me feel better after watching him. Not once. He still does. He always tried to do good with his celebrity, forming environmental organizations, trying to end world hunger, supporting American farmers, replanting trees and protecting wilderness and wild life. He was truly one of a kind, and our world is poorer without him.
I saw him twice in concert before he was killed in his experimental plane. He was a very personable man, and he worked so hard to protect the environment and wildlife. If you are interested, maybe you could check out his "Eagles and Horses" from the Wildlife Concert? Great reaction. Thank you.
@jeannebrown3254 Yes, he seems like a outside sort of person, and I did not know that the plane was experimental. That is new info! I will check out more of his concerts from wildlife and I really appreciate you watching my videos!
John is my favorite artist of all time. My favorite song is Looking for Space and The Eagle and the Hawk. Though he didn’t play either for this concert (I think mainly because he lost a lot of his range after the mid 80s)
How did you like the green chili and our sweet melons, while you were here? The growing season is almost here and I can't wait! Loved your reaction to this song! I have just subscribed to your channel!
You’ve got to listen to another great songwriter/storyteller who also died young… Jim Croce. Start with Time In A Bottle, I Love You In A Song, Operator… these should start you in the rabbit hole.
I don't recall any controversy about this song referencing getting high back in the day although there may have been some. Starting back in 1967 you would always have some radio DJ dissecting Beatles songs for hidden drug messages and the media would catch on to it and it would be a big deal. May have happened with this song too and I just don't recall it now. That's getting to be a quite a few minutes ago now. Speaking of Beatles, if you haven't checked out the 1971 official video of John Lennon's "Imagine" well then you should, it's great stuff. No live crap on this one please! Getting back to "Rocky Mountain High" check out the reference in George Carlins bit "Balance The Budget" the whole bit is hilarious. In two comments I just gave you four great reactions for you two. Hope too see a few of them. Peace ❤❤
@dougsusie2319 Thank you for the info! I am posting on my second channel for now because of the strikes I received, but I will continue to post things on this channel as well until at least one of my strikes are removed!
You’re not reacting to the best versions of his songs, probably 15 years or more after the peak of his popularity. Not the best performance, but still very good.

@MoMoMyPup10 I like the studio sound, but I really like to see audiences reactions to the music and the energy from the artist. It is fantastic!

@laurengaudette7497 Yes, I am going to look more into that concert! I sounds like it is going to good! Thank you!
