Parasyte is actually a classic that should be appreciated, at least the manga and anime. It's crazy how something that was created during the 70s I think, still holds up in today's world
Credits where they are due, this live action is an amazing adaptation. The casts were perfect, the emotions felt very genuine and the CGI did not take away from the acting. They were able to capture the tense, thrilling moments as well as the tender, sensible moments without ever breaking immersion. True master class.
Funny thing about that: There is very little CGI due to them actually using practical effects and puppetry. I beleive they even had help from Jim Hensons Workshop for some of the rigs, they were displayed in a museam for quite some time.
Your videos have made me watch more movies than any trailer ever has. I usually watch like 2-3 minutes before I decide if I want to watch these videos in full, or if I want to watch the movie first. Thanks man, love your channel.
I remember when I first watched the anime and realised his mom was no longer alive. It was heart breaking. But the saddest one was when Kana dies in the arms of Shinji fully satisfied that she wasn't wrong about him and realising infact she did had a connection with him. 🤧 Been a decade and this recap brought back those memories. Noicee.
Mm is extremely different and unique from other story telling channels, he isn't a robot with the same tone and he also has a sense of humor making the experience more enjoyable and great to listen and watch overall, plus fairly quick uploads too, no reason you shouldn't sub
I see that the movie does not bring or conjure the emotions that the anime did like the death of shinichi's mother or how amia shifted her face to look like his mother's while she was walking toward him which helped him to heal from his trauma and made him cry. Or how goto was a total tank a killing machine.
I was wondering why they needed to do that. I guess its the amount of gore and what puzzles me more is i known Japan to not mind such things so i guess there is a limit to how much gore they can show. Back then it was a free for all like Suicide Club but yeah i guess they can't do that with this Anime Adaptation so they had to improvise heavily and i appreciate it actually since i loved the anime so much i loved it even more when the author didnt milk the series and end it there.
probably two things. One, extra fleshing of the story that could be compressed down to save precious screentime. Plus, if you decide to adapt one part of that side of the story - The aspect of Shinichi struggling to stay on the fine line between the emotional state of a Human and a parasite... you need to adapt the rest of the parts too, which is gonna get time consuming, and of course, more money consuming. Probably why it was largely condensed into the two main emotional payoff moments in the original story. When Shinichi finally confronts his 'Mother', and when he finally accepts the inevitability that he is likely going to be lain by Gotou in the end. And tries to keep that payoff SOMEWHAT "same". You got to remember.... Most adaptations are usually a glorified means to capture on a hot title/series. This being one of the rare case of a very old title getting a modern anime adaptation, that received well enough... prompting more means to milk out a few more cash of this intellectual property, hence the live action. (Though to be fair, it actually holds up well... ONLY if you haven't read the original, nor watched the anime adptation)
As someone who was a big fan of the Original work (and also it's animated adaptation to e honest), the Live Action was quite entertaining, despite shortening incidents and story beats to fit the shorter runtime, even if overdoing it at times (wtf was that final showdown arc geez). Quite a fun watch and funny summary again, as usual

See nooooo, you can't change the best scene in the entire series like that. When his classmate dies in his arms and for the first time he tells migi to handle the defense... that scene was fucking insane...
I know this is only just a recap of the actual movies, but I really like this live adaptation, based on what I've seen from this recap. @@lakshaygupta1164 Exactly. In my opinion that's how live adaptations should be. Especially since anime adaptations of acclaimed mangas like these already get so much heat from the audience when they veer away from the plot points of the story.
I think what makes this movie great, or maybe tolerable is the emotion aspect of it. shinchi's mom overcoming the parasite's power to save her son, the growing chemistry between migi and shinchi and tamiyo(name's way too hard for me to grasp) sacrificing her self to save the baby.
I always thought the anime was awesome, as gruesome as it is. Now after seeing this, I have appreciation for the movie. It seems as though they stuck to the anime pretty well. On top of that the quality of the cgi and the lighting are really good in my opinion. I think this will really be worth the watch in its entirety.
In the manga and the anime. Shinji and Migi actually defeat Hideo by throwing a rocking at him from a far distance like a baseball. I don't like how in the movie Ryoko kills him for being insufficient, because he was actually a fearsome foe, but in the movie all the build up feels like set-up with no pay-off, and his death by Ryoko makes him look like a joke, but I get that they were probably trying to save budget since doing detalied CGI like that with the muscular hardened arm might've cut the budget short, so they mostly likely saved it for the crucial fight scenes.
