The same way humans react and act robots or Androids or artificial intelligences will. Being a person is a matter of a combination of algorithms biochemical needs combine with experience and environment. But the question I have about artificial intelligence is the soul. I believe that humans are more than just people. I believe we have a soul and I believe our soul is a part of the greater universe. I wonder if an artificial construct can have a soul. Because if it can it's more than just it's artificial parts. It's an actual living thing.

Just a wee correction: a governess isn’t a politician or political leader. It’s an old fashioned term for someone who works for wealthy or upper class families that acts as a sort of nanny/private teacher to raise them in the “proper” way.

I mean 'friend' was kinda right with the first person who bought him. If what he said was true the onsie situation is kinda cute if they're both wearing matching ones as friends but he is still a FRIEND model. In the clips you can specifically see a maid model and there's a cook as well. He claims he was being treated like a servant when his job is to be a friend. She shouldn't have bought him if she wanted a maid and therefore he was right to be upset? I don't know why he got beat for a costumer misusing the product? She bought the wrong model for what she had in intended to use it for, that's on her.
The weirdest part is that the maids were likely on display in the same room, or maybe even a previous one since people would likely buy these robots to be maids.

My mom and I shared a duplex for several years. We used it more as an individual home as I usually cooked down there for whole family. Cats were able to easily move about both places. When she would travel then I’d mostly stay out of her place. She let an X stay at her place while she was outta town. However, he was constantly trying to re-ignite the relationship.
A few times I was sure I heard him downstairs with another person so I checked. And sure enough! He tried to make sure I wldnt see her but.... The next time I needed something from her apartment when I tried to get in, he’d tried to lock me out. Nope! I busted the door open breaking the door and damaging the frame bc it was dead bolted. The last time I went in her apartment, he came in to see what I was doing. He stood in the doorway speaking to me while he was completely naked and slightly trying to flirt.
Of course, I told my mom everything. When she got back home, she went about her business and never once mentioned any of the things she knew. He asked if I said anything weird happened and would try to ask questions to figure out if she knew. The more she acted like everything was fine, the more he fell apart and got more paranoid. She’d been home about one month when he finally lost. He screamed he was leaving and that she was fckd up and crazy and her n I are just alike and he knows she knows and continued for like 20mins. When he was done, my mother still acted like everything was fine. He fell to the floor crying. 2 days later he packed all his things and left! We laughed about this, as did anyone that knew what was going on.
I hadn’t thought about all that in years til the scene came up with her pretending all was fine.

And, according to what other people say about him, he is flirtatious cheater in real life as well, so he cleverly employed it to earn more money of something that is a bad trait of his personality, by playing a same role in the movie. Former girlfriends have already called him out on his inability to be in an exclusive relationship for long. Hence why he seems so natural and why you'd think the "robot" is "smooth". I think we should be even more inclusive to our silicon and metal cousins. I don't think that 'humanity' should be the metric which we judge whether or not they're an appliance as opposed to a person, since our creations wouldn't be a very good replica of us anyways for a number of different reasons. I was expecting a crappy ending but it's actually very wholesome!
I was expecting something very cliche where the robot comes back to her and they end up together, or one where she never finds love again, but I was surprised in a good way.
This ending ..was beautiful. She gains the love of her life, and a brother from a robotic other. And is happy at last. 😁👍

I can imagine it being more successful in societies that value duty over individualism. If you expect a person to do certain things "because it's societally accepted and we think it's best that way", you might prefer having literal robots who cannot disobey and will value your happiness ovee theirs. Confession: I watched another one of the recaps and decided halfway to watch the actual movie. Boring. Stopped that pretty fast and came back to this channel to finish the movie here. I like this movie because it gives a plausible explanation to the AI. It mimics the emotions and goals of the human it is bonded with, so it solves the goal problem of AGI as the AI's only goal is to come up with a reasonable goal for the human at the time and take the same goal. It is flawed of course that's not how humans behave, and it might be terrible for relationships, but it works and can actually make a decent companion. I want to see a movie that explores the decisions behind making an AI, we have so many movies exploring what happens after it is built but want to see one about all the decisions and philosophy of making the first one. We don't have this for space movies either, they have some cool spaceship and do things with it but it would be cool to see a movie about building the first version of sci-fi spaceship.

These movie recaps are really addicting!
Did I miss something? People are saying the ending is wholesome, happy, that after all he is just a programmed robot, he couldn't act differently.
But ending didn't seem happy at all?
It seemed to imply that he did have feelings for her, as he made her send him away, and then he texted her when he could which was 6months later, and then told her he was so happy when in fact he was all alone, abandoned in a warehouse? And that he sent the text just to give her peace of mind so she doesn't feel guilty for getting rid of him, and also to see her one more or one last time?
I need to watch the movie to understand it better... It felt good to see her happy with a real boyfriend, but it felt awful for the robot. Just like in the Wall-e movie, when I felt bad for the robots, like when Eve was in sleep mode and he was desperate to wake her up; or when it seemed that he didn't remember anything after the burnt memory chip and she was heartbroken.
Sometimes, two people who really care about eachother aren't good for each other and even though they will still always care, they need to be apart. A lot of times, this does result in both leading happier, healthy lives. You're right that it implies that he really did care. If he didn't really care, then he would have stayed and they would have kept having problems and being unhappy. Sometimes, love means letting go.
@@SocialLocust Yeah I agree with you and your reasoning is why he let go of her, but what I mean is that the comments and the movie says he was just sort of a defected pre-programmed machine mirroring the first human he saw; when the way the ending was shown here seems to imply he was a sentient being that had some free will and free thinking and he used it to make her happy and him miserable, because he cared, and now he is going to be left alone and abandoned forever while she thrives.
She just lost a robot and gained everything she wished for, he lost everything he ever had and cared about, and will never have a chance to build a life for himself, all while having feelings and emotions, so the ending is very bitter. He spent the entire movie trying to make her happy only to be discarded and as time passes she will go on with her life and he will either be left there forgotten or be destroyed.
Someone who manages to watch the movie needs to tell us if the ending was really happy for everyone, not just her.
