- The Lord of the Rings was my childhood. I still remember that I was watching Peter Jacksons interpretation of Tolkiens novels for about eighteen years ago. This incredible work inspired me to build weapons since I was young.
So, in the last few months I rented a garage to create something on my own and live my passion...

What kind of elvish enchants did you attach to the blade? Also how many centuries have you been doing blades for the elves if I may?

Hey man, cool build, I've wanted to do a set since I saw the movies as a kid. Not to be a know-it-all butthole or anything, but if you adjust the tracking on your belt grinder so that you have a softer edge on your belt, like leave a bit of overhang, you'll get that soft plunge grind without having to use the file and dremel.
You can tell it’s an elvish weapon because it’s glued together,very beautiful knife

As a fellow blacksmith my self I'll tell you this you don't want to hear the cost of a pair its going to me 1.1k per sword at best
Yet another unbelievable making of more items from LOTR. These must follow on from the Elvin bow. I’m pretty sure that you must have teleported from 4000 BC to have the skill and knowledge to produce the bow and the knives.

Really handsome builds, and the quality of your videos in general is very polished also. I must say, though, I would have tried to make mechanical fastener connections between the handle and blade (and the end cap) in addition to the epoxy. I feel like epoxy alone is not enough to hold the blade still during use. Maybe incorporate a through-pin within a stag/deer inlay? In any case, good looking stuff.

Love the content and am a new subscriber catching up on your older posts. I just watched the sword video and now this one. I do have a suggestion concerning you handle construction. Now, your method is better than trying to bore a hole and the. Fitting to the tang. However, you may consider a 4 slab construction where rather than take all the time to carve out the channel to accept the tang you cut out the tang slabs in line with the edge to the contour of the tang and then as the top and bottom of the handle as you do for one side already. If you cut your handle material into 4 slabs it should be undetectable.
Also, this will allow you to flare the end of your tang for a fail safe grip of the tang is it will be mechanically locked in. You can do this with your current method my method would make it easer. Moreover, the “spacer slabs” and be of a contrasting wood if desired….. even bronze spacers slaps etc etc…. Brilliant work. I hope you like my idea and take it with the good will and respect in which it was given.

Great job man! You definitely can tell these are a labor of love and a passion just by watching what and how you do things. Don't ever lose that! If you start getting burnt out, walk away from it for a while. The fire will return. I went through that with music after pushing extremely hard for almost 10 years straight, and it scared me to death to lose that fire. It was more of an obsession than passion, which led me to walk away from it at the age of 28. My average week was around 80-90 hrs between a full time job(manual labor mostly),and band practice/gigs. It did return after a much needed 8 year hiatus. The reason I say all of this is because I can see how much you really care about your craft and the great amount of pride that you put into it. Just by seeing the results, one can easily notice the vast amount of time, work, and effort that goes in to each piece. You are definitely on the right track my friend and I hope to be able to do the same one day. Blacksmithing has been something I've wanted to do for years,, even though I was a welder/fabricator for about 10 years, with about a year of machinist experience. Yea, it's amazing and beautiful work, but without a mechanical connection between blade and handle, not reliably functional.

P.S. The drawstring on your hoodie got dangerously close to your beltsander, not to sound like the old man in the room, but loose dangling clothing items is your enemy in the grinding room.

More like grinding & filing than forging, but pretty wall hangers when done.
We have advanced tools for a Reason also people wouldn't appreciate the forged blades a blade like that will cost 1k a full hammered forged blade will go for 5-7k

@@Killianwsh the reason that we have advanced tools is because people don't appreciate the forged blades. I can make you the same blade without power tools in 3 months will you pay the price? Because we are talking about 10k worth of work no power tools work. And thats the reason we use power tools its still forged even with power tools forged compare to some wall mart wall hangers that it

ASMR for blacksmiths
These are great as reproduction display pieces but I would be afraid to use them as there is no mechanical bond of the handle to the tang. Shock force from impact would likely break the resin bond even with the relief cuts you put in the tang. But they are beautifully crafted and there is no doubt you are good in that regard. 🍻
Hey, thanks for your critique! Like you already said, you're absolutely right. Meanwhile I faced the same problem and changed the pins of the handle as well. These were only my first prototypes.

I’m getting a tattoo of Herugrim (Theoden’s sword) next month and i stumbled upon your video here. I’ve gotta say, this is one of the most amazing videos i’ve seen on youtube. I know nothing about blacksmithing or forging, but the level of craftsmanship along with the production value you put into making this video is insane.
Just wanted to say thanks for making this amazing sword and this amazing video, and that i’m definitely inspired now to take up a new hobby. I’d like to ask, how long did this process take for you, and what advice would you give to somebody interested in making something like into a hobby?

First of all, thank you for your kind words! To inspire people with my little smithing feels really good. In the future, I want to do Herugrim as well. This sword is such a beautiful piece (good choice for your tattoo!).
All in all, I took two months of time to made those elven knives. My advice for beginners are to keep a clean workspace and to be patient. The preparation for smithing needs time. Every beginner will make mistakes, I did it a lot even with these knives. I needed at least more than one try to forge them "perfectly". If you look close at the details, you will find some mistakes and imperfections too. The key is really to keep practising.

To your questions. First of all, the metal bar was around a half inch thick and the material I used was spring steel of an old truck which I got from a junkyard.

1095 steel would be something close to 1k maybe 700$

I know this is a few years old, still would like to know how long it took you to grind in that bevel...probably at least 4-8 hrs?
Yes. 8 hours is the time i need for the grinding.
Forging Elven Knives ......... with a traditional orc propane tank gas forge and a hobit angle grinder , im guessing the the belt grinder is called smeagle ! PS pretty sure no elf ever used a 10 mm thick blade Oo

@@luismendozaalcala4281 ofc! Lord of the rings but also the game Witcher 3: Wild Hunt inspired me the most. I can highly recommend you to play this masterpiece or to look at it, if you're not familiar with it. The design of the weapons are great!
My brother got it for 5 years XD but I wasn't very keen with it because it's very long but I will play it one day because at the end it will be very worth. Thank you again and I hope for you success :)

should have made the tang go right through the end cap then peen it. nice shape, nice overall but i wouldnt trust it to hold together in a battle.

thats not forging, just to do the (VERY) rough form on an anvil and harden it on fire...
