How to find your PASSION | MEL ROBBINS

  • Here's what finding your passion isn't about: doing something because you feel others will approve, starting something and flaming out when it gets 'difficult', or trying things just to prove that you are "successful".
    Passion is about tuning into the things that energize you. Passion IS energy.
    So, whether it is a person, place, or thing, I want you to start paying attention to whether something energizes you, or totally depletes you.
    Do this for five days, and I guarantee your passion will reveal itself before your eyes.

    Thank you!! I have a few people in my life that drain me. I always look for the good in them..there is some but they are overall drainers. I am scared to let go bc they are close family and i dont want to be alone but i see i have to let go and learn to be alone.

    Love this.. so true.. Please don't bleep out your cuss words.. your authenticity is one of the things I love about you. If someone is offended by a cuss word here and there, they need to get over that. :)

    I hear all the time "you have to do what you are passionate in order to fulfill your life". Make a list, write what brings joy to you,etc.
    How about when you have passion for nothing, yes I am saying nothing. Is it normal and if it is not why? It is hard to believe and some people even get mad when I mentioned there is nothing that I am passionate (energize) about it. In my thoughts I still believe I have to find a person who can explain to me another way to enjoy (energize)what I do even I am not doing what I like. Do I really have to feel passion for what I do. If so how to stop feeling miserable because I have no passion for anything.

    Hmm ... I've been "functioning" and "surviving" for most of my life and just discovered this,and that I've been unknowingly burying/hiding from complex PTSD, mild dissociation, and the inevitable travelling companions from (insert a long story, relatively unimportant to my question). I have no idea how I feel outside of "anxious", "numb" and "numbly hyper-vigilant" (I know, it confuses me too)after almost a year of work (even that was progress lol). At fourty-something, I'm finally SERIOUSLY wondering what stokes my passion and I'm stumped. Financial obligations limit the exploration possibilities I can think of (so far) and fear is likely clouding my imagination/thoughts. change is needed, I often think but that thought has gotten me into some stupid (disastrous) decisions/leaps so I've learned to be more cautious - it has to be "forward change", without endangering my present base of security so watching my response to others is kinda limited in helpfulness.
    From you any others following this, I'm open to ideas, links, channels, etc

      DaBlondDude I usually never reply to comments but yours inspired me to do so. Have you looked into (bodypsycho)therapy? Things like Somatic Experiencing or NARM (by Laurence Heller)? Might be really helpful. All the best for you and your healing!

    yeah, but that can be confused with some addictions and destructive obsessions too. If u arent intune with yourself.
    You can feel really energized to go partying all night drinking etc. I think what could be added to this could also be, Am i moving towards something when i feel this "passion" (meanig IS it a passion) or am I fleeing/avoiding something ?

      i would also say that i think is much more concrete then aiming at things like Finding Happyness and stuff like that, even if u are lost and dont know what your passion is (cause u are numb for example) is to focus on being Authentic. True to your self. Start noticing the different urges, feelings and reactions u have to people and situations and slowly find out what is right for you. Its not necessarily just passion but to be in tune with yourself that she talks about. Think about your day, what depletes you. What brings u calm and balance ( not just excitement ). Sleep , what u eat and if u need to work out etc, coupled with what u like to do and what drains u. It takes alot of time. But start to notice patterns - notice your moods. And also, look at what u do and if its to avoid things (like binging something, constantly checking social media so not to be alone with your thoughs etc) or what u do that gives u energy

    Hmm ok... what about when my energizing things are not healthy? E.g. spending lots of time alone... because people deplete you big time? Do you push boundaries to like people more?

      Lali Tea i think you should try to stop this though pattern that you are actually sick and start affirming to yourself that you are in perfect health keep reminding and visualization yourself in that perfect health and try to embodity that part of you that are healthy...you know how the low of attraction work

      Lali Tea try to visualize yourself in perfect health i try to actually feel how you would feel like to actually get your health back ..be strong and have faith in yoursel and realize that your thought is powerful and it can actually manifest your reality.try also to eliminate anything that stress that also can manifest into physical ailment. meditation and positive affirmation help .research it .i pray that you get well soon

    I respect you a lot, but I have to say this is the kind of videos that does not contribute, everything what you say is obvious, it is just to change the word you use, it is like if someone says:: "the secret to become rich si to have an innovate product" ok, that is true, but, at the same time this person is saying nothing, because it is too obvious. I wanted to write this comment because when you source on youtube most of videos say things like that, there are few that really contribute with something new and this is not one of them, videos say the same again and again with well planed words, but the same. For those ones who are looking something, I would recommend you mindfulness, because it is not about "aligning" with something, it is about how your mind represent it, mindfulness is great answer, and i have to say I learnt it from some else.
