Currently working on his fourth ballade, I can definitely agree when you say he was a perfectionist.
Nice one 😊
Wow, that's a solid one !
Your piano has a very beautiful sound
Chopin wrote so many masterpieces. Even a rarely heard late nocturne like op 62 n 2 is fully formed and indestructible in its symmetric beauty. That middle section agitato might be one of his finest melodies
True
Excellent video and commentary you know how to comment . Congratulations like always .
Thank you, doing my best 😊
10:25 is the most important takeaway from this video IMO. I'm familiar with this George Sand quote about Chopin's creative process as well, and that led me to the same conclusion as in this video - if Chopin himself could not decide between variants, it means that there isn't a right answer and it can be ok to depart from the score. Also, pianos today are different from back then - maybe Chopin would've chosen a different variant on today's pianos in some cases. I think this is also a great example of how understanding certain details about the composer's life truly makes a difference in how we can interpret the score.
Totally agree 😊
That thing he had where he would obsess over a single idea for days and even scream at Sand... That sounds like some pretty dark mental illness. I'm sure he didn't like being that way...
Who knows, he was a bit a strange guy 😊
forgot that Sand was a woman for a second and wondered why he would scream at dust
@@pecfexfextus4437 lol
Love your wonderful explanation and this whole video is great!!…Great how you’re feeling the way they lived including breakfast in bed it gives such a real idea of also the way they approached their day from early❤️🎹🎶
@@pecfexfextus4437that’s funny cause she dressed as a guy too
Very interesting. I enjoyed listening to you talk about the background of the composer. I also enjoyed the process where he would chose between details in his compositions. It indeed sounds like he was an unstable person.
Chopins compositions though have that special touch of perfection to them. Like every note fits perfectly. He also worked with minor second intervals a lot
😢😢😢❤Chopin forever
😊
I'm being crushed here by Chopin's perfectionism, in Scherzo No. 4 and Ballade No. 4. But I wouldn't expect - or accept - anything less.
Yes that are two heavy works 😊
You should definitely make adjustments to the music as you see fit. Chopin with that waltz obviously had many different ideas about how it should be. Depending on the instrument, the space, your mood, the audience's mood, etc. it would make sense to adjust certain things.
Nice 👍🏼
Je suis devenue un peu plus proche de Chopin grâce à vous ❤. C'était intéressant, merci😊
Heureux de l‘apprendre 😊🙏
I hoped this would be about sight reading Chopin pieces and how one gets better at it. Nonetheless quite interesting
Je ne sais pas si Chopin aurait acheté les mêmes chaussons, mais il aurait apprécié l'hommage en tout cas !
Haha, c‘est fort possible 😅
Woah this is a very interesting video. I recently visited his grave in June. This makes me kinda understand more about his life and his compositions.
Thank you 😊 Its in Paris right?
@@horoffra Yes at Pere Lechaise. A lot of other artists like Oscar Wilde are also buried there. Chopin’s grave is surprisingly hard to find :”)
without his heart
I have the idea that Mozart was very different, that the music came out already formed and perfect.
Yes true
Chopin prenait du chocolat chaud au petit déjeuner
Ah bon 😊
Really nice history about chopin!! Also didnt know he lifted wieghts 😜
Haha
@remconitschelm5803 10 1
Ahhh wrist hand shoulder burning
really interesting for some reasons lol
Thanks, which reason? 😊
Anyone could tell me what is the name of these trousers Sebastien is wearing in this video? I've seen them at Pitti Uomo as well, and would love to wear something like that, but have no idea how they're called.
Bough it at suitsupply
@@horoffra Thank you so much! I was able to find them in a matter of seconds. And now I finally know how they are called - trousers or pants with pleats :) They look great.
Ah! I'm loving it.
Kołodziejczak robiacy rutynę Chopina. Tego się nie spodziewałem..
XD bez kitu
I have the same routine except i am not a composer
I think many people has that routine 😊
@@horoffra yes I teach piano till intermediate level that's why I could relate more and working on Chopins pieces 😆
Nice video, but i would have loved to see you rent a horse carriage and go to a hairdresser! Chopin style 😊 cheers
Eh I thought Chopin's daily routine would first and foremost include practicing Bach?
Maybe he did before
Chopin died in the age of 39. So I recommend you to try his routine not too long....
(Sorry für the joke grandmaster and rip 🙏 🪦)
😂🙏 thanks
Could u tell the name of the Chopin's biography book you read for this video?
Its a book about habits of different people
@@horoffrawhat’s the book specifically ?
I think it's probably Daily Rituals by Mason Currey
No way! I'm also working on op62 no2 rn
How is it going?
@@horoffra good. 1/3rd of the way there. The agitato section looks a little scary 😅
@@horoffra you should do this kind of video on more types of composers, especially Rachmaninov
@@4ss4ss1n5 i will, I did mozart and liszt too
I've always found the idea of an urtext edition of Chopin a bit laughable when considering the multiple editions during his lifetime, as well as the contradicting corrections in his students' scores.
😅
You should learn how to compose. It is extremely fun and fulfilling and in my opinion you can’t completely learn a language only knowing how to read and interpret. You need to learn the speak and write as well. I think it is very sad classical musicians today do not improvise and write as musicians of the past did. I hope this did not sound rude but I find writing just as fulfilling as playing honestly and I think it is important for you to at-least try. Have fun and have a good day!
I can compose and improvise but very little.
@@horoffra well no one can do everything perfect lol but I recommend practicing a couple minutes a day I’m definitely nothing great yet but I think my composing is progressing much faster than I expected. It’s very fun
@@prizm8530 good for you, im doing many other stuff so no time for that, youtube for ex takes a lot of time
@@horoffra I understand
@@horoffra doing it in retirement is very fun
You forgot to cough up a pint of blood.
Why?
@@horoffra Joke. Chopin had laryngeal tuberculosis, treated in part by daily purging.
There aren't many TB joke opportunities out there. I gotta take 'em while I can. 😊
@@cisium1184 ok got it now 😊
Suoni divinamente 😍😍😍😍 bellissimo omaggio e anche bellissimi piedi e pantofole 👣🦶
Why did you use an ai generated image of chopin in your thumbnail 💀
Caus there no real pic of chopin lifting weights
@@horoffra oh, i kinda see the "pun" of the thumbnail lol
I can't hear what he say lol
Seriously?
@@horoffra You sound quite mumbling. It’s a bit of a challenge for us non-native English speakers to understand.
@@PassionPnoI hear what he says fine! It sounds normal to me.
@@PassionPno he sounds very normal to me, but i have alot of experience with listening in english so maybe thats why but for a normal listener he sounds fine
I'm non native I'm understanding it normally lol
Bonjour!! I master both french & english languages....your translation is inaccurate!! Please, "whatever" is not acceptable... thank you.
Subtitles is automatic I dont make them
I speak English and Music. In some circles, in music, we are relaxed loving interesting people who just happen to be talented. In other circles? Someone has to tell another how they’ve mastered French and English and tell another extremely talented person what’s not acceptable. Foolish. Go practice.
