    The message overwhelms the diptych as a stand-alone work of art. If the intent is to make the viewer feel off kilter, it has succeeded.

      That's actually the way I often felt when I spent time in this region. Focusing on the plants and animals and the rocks but also the distant vistas; looking across at a magnificent panoramic view and then suddenly a deep ravine opens up before you. It did throw me off kilter!
