Tons of people anchor theirs, which I think is a good idea. An engineer or builder somewhere is probably laughing at me thinking I can get away with it being freestanding but I’ve had no issues!!
Thank you! You're on to something there! I have been watching some videos and doing some research on making my own wooden holds, may have to give it a try !
What kind of bolts did you hammer into the frame and stand? I’m at this step in my build and I’m unsure if I should use construction screws or a hearty bolt like you got there. I just don’t know what it’s called
Hey! They’re called carriage bolts. I used them because they can hold a ton of weight and it makes it easier to lift the frame and adjust the angle of the wall. Hope this helps!
Mattia Colombo thank you!! It was a lot of fun to make together. For build plans, I just had a rough hand drawn plan that I did tweak a bit during the build
Matthew Harland hey! I just have a very rough hand drawn plan, that I had to tweak a little while building. If you’re interested in that shoot me a message on Instagram and I can send a pic of it @weekend.warren is my handle
Thank you! The cost for lumber and tee nuts was around $600 CAD but the real cost comes from climbing holds if you want plastic ones. You can make your own holds from stacking up plywood and then sanding them in to shape, which is much much cheaper and there are a good amount of videos on how to do that!
Hey just wondering why you have your wall studs running horizontally with blocking. Other people have done similar projects with the studs running vertically with no blocking. Just curious, loved the result!
Honestly I don't really have that much knowledge for carpentry. We put them horizontally and then I thought "That doesn't seem strong enough" so I placed in the blocking. There are a few things I would change if I did it all over again and making the studs run vertically would probably be one of them just to reduce cost on lumber.
@@CourtneyWarren you did design it pretty similarly to hangar doors I've worked on, so kudos to you! And I should really be calling them girts instead of studs in either case. How has it held up over the last few months? Any fears of a strong gust of wind blowing it over?
We had a couple buckets leftover from a deck project so we primarily used 8x2 1/2" deck screws. I cant say with absolute certainly but probably around 200-250 is more than enough. www.homedepot.ca/product/paulin--8-x-2-1-2-inch-square-drive-flat-head-deck-screw-unc-in-brown-100pcs/1000110863
Madduh Art I got all the lumbar and screws from Copps Buildall but Home Depot, Lowe’s, etc will have what you need. For the tee nuts I got them off amazon, should be a link in the description of the video! The one thing I would change about my wall is the quality of the plywood sheets. It’s not awful by any means but I wish I had gone with a higher quality as there’s less chance of striping the tee nuts when setting the holds.
looks like a fun project
Brandon Koruna it’s been a blast to make so far! No clue what we’re doing but I think we’re managing lol
Very informative, especially for smaller builders!
Glad you like the video!! Thank you for watching
Re-watching to get some tips 😂 debating if mine needs to be freestanding or attached to the deck 🤔

Erin Noh thank you! We’re super excited to get it all done and get some climbing hold on it!
Thanks for this ! im going to use this same idea and build my wall AYE!
Mike Martin that is awesome!! Best of luck with the project!!
Nice wall. If you looking to drag out the build, make your own wooden holds :)
Thank you!

Hi! Great project!! Do you have the project? Can you share it with us? Thanks girls

10/10 rating on your high five's
hahaha thank you! we were having a blast putting this together
Hey just wondered if you had the dimension/plan of this so I can make one myself

Awesome project! Just wondering how much does building something like that cost?

Doug thank you ! It’s been great! We’ve had some heavy storms and it hasn’t budged. Climbing on it feels sturdy even with dynamic movement.
@@CourtneyWarren fantastic. I'm looking forward to building my own now!
Doug nice! Best of luck with the project !!
How many screws did you order? And what size?
