These conquistadors look like they would be pretty good dogs of war style troops in Old World. Obviously they could also be used as an entire force for Empire as well
Wargames Atlantic also has so great Ogres that look very similar in style as well. So, depending on if they allow some sort of Dogs of War Ogres they could work for them as well.
@@godconvoy I have actually seen them before but didn’t know the brand until now. Awesome looking ogres that would definitely work as mercenaries. I think Old World has just recently come out with some ogre mercenaries as part of the orcs and goblins release though I’m sure other factions can take them as well
The War of the Roses Mercenaries kits from Perry Miniatures work really well for Empire kitbashes. They come with Pikes, Muskets, Crossbows, Pavises, a number of melee weapons and body customizations. Best of all, they come with Sallets. You have nice fingers...
I'm looking at picking some of these up when the cavalry are released soon to complement my current Empire forces. I also have the Pike & Shotte Landsknecht and Halberdiers and will use their arms and weapons but they are 28mm not 28mm heroic so they look terrible next to GW Empire troops.
Just made a empire army AND mordheim band out of these, really great kit, I appreciate the versatility while also being so quick to build 😎🤙 Also they mix great with most empire bits
I'm in definite agreement for the swords. They just seem...plain. Having some different styles of swords would make it feel more alive so to speak, like each soldier has their preferred weapon instead of this handed out weapons. The bucklers being plain I think is good because, if your skilled enough, can paint in variety of material and decor/embellishments yourself. Looking forward to part 2!
Where did you get the $48.67 usd price per box? You may have been looking at the canadian $ price because they are $34.95 usd per box which makes them an even better deal!
I don't think they will sell Empire State Troops in boxes of 10, They have publicly stated that they want each box to be a complete Unit, so I'm guessing at least 20, maybe even 25.
That's true. I think their price will still be high, I should have compared them to the Bretonnian men at arms, which is 36 for $80. It would probably be different amount for sure. Either way, i think it will be more expensive than the conquistadors.
Each whole sprue, and it's not easily broken up, makes 10 figures. We won't be seeing 25 figures in a box, but 20 or 30 makes sense - given that Brets and tomb kings have 36 as their basic infantry, Orcs/goblins at 31/40. 20 makes sense for a Greatswords box, with Brets and Tomb Kings having that for their elite infantry. We'll probably see 16 knights in a Knightly Order set, 15 for outriders, 20 or 30 for flagellants. We may also see a return of the 6th edition Spearmen/Handgunners set, similar to the Orc Boyz/Arrer Boyz, but perhaps not as the Boy/Arrer sprue was the only way to get arrer boyz for a while - until the metal figures came out but GW must have felt it wasn't worth pulling that mold out of storage.
About the lack of instructions, on the sprue every arm has a number & a letter, f.e. L9 & R9, so I suppose that this indicate the couples, at least this is in my Cannon Fodder's and OoRah's sprues.
this came at the right time. Just finished a bunch of Perry Minis "War of the Roses" and "European Mercenaries" and am looking for more modern i.e. late 16th century Minis. they might not be compatible for a kitbash but should work in side by side units. Thanks for the Review! looking forward to part 2. 👍
How well do you think regular Imperial Guard arms and other bits would fit on these guys? Been thinking of making a little unique Guard squad and these conquistadors seem to fit the style I want :)
You are right, scholagladiatoria has a good video on that. I still think it would be a good choice to add to add some variation Especially for a noble or someone higher in rank A more accurate term to what I would want to see would be swept hilt/cup hilt/basket hilt swords
I know you mentioned this in the video but I’d like to ask, do the conquistadors scale well with standard Empire State troops? I don’t own any so I can check the size myself and I’d like to know since empire will release for old world soon
I think based on what we've seen as regards quantity and price for ToW boxes you're well off. Much more likely to see 30 or 40 of the ugly 7th/8th state troops when they eventually see a re-release.
Looking at what GW offers when it comes to orcs and goblins etc.. Id expect you get about 20 troops in a box from GW for about 50 dollars. not for 10.. :P
Now THIS is the GW size comparision I've been looking for. Thank you very much!
Glad it was helpful!
Yay you said montante! You honor Spain!
That means alot!

Oh 100% I have a friend who is doing just that!

yeah they sweet, and lol
Can't wait to see the progress in part 2!
A very thorough review of the contents of the box and super useful to those wondering if this box is for them. Thank you for making this video.
Wargames Atlantic Ogres also match the style of these conquistadors, so might prove useful for people wanting empire ogres or movement tray fillers
That's a really good idea
Very good unboxing and comparison
Thanks! I really appreciate it

woops! I thought I had it on american!
Might do a Tilean army with these...
Do it! That would look awesome!

@@brynstarre I doubt we will get it, but the older plastic state regiment box was so much better

I checked and didn't see any. To be fair I think this is one of their older kits

I have a unit of the sprues of some of the war of the roses, I should try kitbashing to see how it looks!

Ooh. I would like to see that! I think they should look fine. The older guard kit might be better than the new one for ease of kitbashing
Mordheim , here we go
Rapiers were not designed for battle… it’s name derives from “ropera” in spanish. Espada ropera was a sword to use with your comon clothes.

Yeah for sure. I think they look well together. you can also kitbash them together fairly easily
@@RustedBrush awesome thank you for the reply that helps me a lot. This video is fantastic and a big help to other hobbyists
@@jamesn2830 Thank you! Means a lot!
I hope we get a new empire state troop kit, I hate the poses they have. They look daft being all squatted
Yeah the 6th ed state regiment box was so much better!
Really nice review.
In the end there were some cool undeads, what minis were these?
Thanks I really appreciate it! Those are my converted flesh eater courts and my old gw skeletons
How are you getting 48 USD on one box? On my browser, the price is the same as most of WGA's boxes for as long as I can remember: $35.
I had it on cad, i thought it was usd
@@RustedBrush My apologies.
