Hi like the loose work, When you use gold leaf you need to use a glue medium called "Size" Paint this on until its quite tacky before adding the gold leaf.
I've had success with gold leaf and alcohol inks.

There is a gold leaf glue that works perfectly. In my country they use egg white, I have not try it yet, I think that it will smell terrible.

Can you use matte medium instead of gloss for the transfer ? I haven’t been able to make this transfer technique to work

You need a gold leaf glue which is much stickier than a PVA glue and let it stand a bit before applying leaf

Same here! Did you use an inkjet photocopy or does it have to be a Lazer print?
Gold leaf requires a specific adhesive called size. Also, use a very thin layer and it should be only tacky, not wet. It's a lovely medium that I've used on large format paintings. Oxidising the leaf adds another interesting dimension.
Cheers for the tips, Il make sure I get some 👍🏻 and try out the oxidising it..what do you add to get that effect?
@@TomQuigleyArt lemon juice works well on silver or copper leaf. Real gold leaf doesn't oxidise so it needs to be dutch gold leaf, which is fake gold. It doesn't oxidise as easily as silver or copper leaf so chemicals work best. I've used metal salts, ammonia, heat works too. You can play around to get striking effects. 😊

gold leaf only works on the specialized adhesive that is made specifically for gold leaf. White glue isn't the right chemical composition to cause the metal to adhere.

Cat’s right. And the golf leaf adhesive has to dry a little bit before you adhere the gold. I’ve never gotten it quite right either, but it’s just beautiful nevertheless.
