At 1:15:21, Michael says that Christ said a powerful nation will be established in “America” in the last days. Of course, the text of 3 Nephi 21:4 reads, “…established in this land, and be set up as a free people by the power of the Father….”
Contrary to the influences I experienced at BYU over 50 years ago, the meaning of ‘this land’ was clear to me - that it referred to the place where freedom of religion was a fundamental right, which freedom was essential so that The Restoration could begin. This land is choice specifically for that reason. Even so, history has recorded how awfully difficult it was for the early saints in this dispensation. Perhaps that difficulty is only a glimpse of what the saints will face as this time of the Gentiles comes to a close.
I appreciate Michael’s analysis, in this section of the video, especially.
