Kevin & Patty, great video! Though I am neither a hiker nor a camper, I went to Caprock last May with a few friends who are expert at both; it was a great experience, what a beautiful park. I look forward to more of your videos! Tim

Did you have to carry your own water? Or did you filter along the way?

I carried most of if but I refilled a separate container at the fern cave half way in

Excellent in every aspect - the subject, the editing, the footage and the music!

Great footage. Amazing to see bison so close 😮 I have never seen bison in the wild before. Amy’s pack apart from being far to big for her torso she needs to do her sternum straps up and tighten her loader lift straps. That will stop the pack from pulling back and making it so uncomfortable. Really enjoyed watching this as I have not been there before 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

I have done this hike about 3 times, but never in the direction y'all went. I wouldn't want to descend Haynes Ridge the steep way! We also like Caprock better than Palo Duro.

Nice Video! Do the tent sites at the North Prong Primitive camping area have any spacing between them? Or does everyone camp in a single open area? Hoping there was some distance between the tent sites since there is very little vegetation to offer any privacy. Thanks!

There was no individual pads. It’s one big cleared area. You should be able to get a good idea from the grime shot in my video. That was our green tent.

It’s amazing when you get away from the campgrounds

Since Caprock is so far from city lights, the Milky Way looks like milk was poured across the sky. I first noticed it there as a boy, and it was amazing. Some things are best seen by surprise. :)

How long did it take to get your dog to do day long hikes?
My golden retriever is usually done after two hours...but he usually only does hour long walks and has only done three 2+ hour hikes

You really should obey the laws while in the park. Dogs must be on a leash at all time in Texas parks.

That's what I was thinking. and with wild bison in the area no less, that's just asking for trouble.
