Hey thank you! That was honestly my goal for making this video. I had a hard time finding much info and there are only a few good videos out there! It’s a great park and I was shocked at the scenery out there. Hope you have a great trip!
Man, great editing! This is a quality video. I wasn't sure if my young daughter would be able to hike this trail, and your footage helped me know what to expect. Thank you and God bless!
Been to Caprock Canyons a number of times. I love it! It always seems to be a little less crowded and a little more rugged than Palo Duro Canyon. Glad you got to experience it!
I noticed you were using stakes from your pictures on Facebook. Didn't look like you had crazy winds or anything. When my wife and I went, the winds were nuts. You were living large on this trip. 6 pack of beer ... WITH ICE! Wow.
Man it was a peaceful trip...no wind and great weather! I shouted you out when I was at camp...took your music recommendation on this trip and said that you’d be proud of me for using stakes! Haha
@@TheNotLostNomad yeah I saw that part. I appreciate that. My wife and I listened to a lot of Tyler Childers and Colter Wall while camping this past week. Goes perfect with lounging around outside. Especially with a drink.
Never been to Caprock before, really the closest I’ve been to the Texas Panhandle area is Lubbock. Beautiful southwest landscape, and I can see how all those reds remind you of Sedona. Hiding from a herd of Bison is comically awesome, and also very prudent. It was the prehistoric equivalent to being caught at an RR crossing while waiting for the train to go by haha! How long were you in the ditch waiting?
Man longer than it looks in the video...when they were going by the entire herd stopped at the entrance of the ditch. The biggest bull stood there for a solid minute and a half... I think he could smell me! Adrenaline was going for a bit. Made for an exciting hike for sure. I guess it’s alway better to be safe than sorry!
Absolutely amazing scenery!!! Really great footage!!! Really nice hike to do!!! Congratulations guys for your channel 👏 Wish you a happy and smooth new year ❤️
So I’d say never leave anything personal like wallets or IDs…gear can always be replaced easily. But I can tell you that you typically run into good like minded people on the trail. I know theft happens from time to time but I’ve yet to have an issue after a decade of backpacking. You should be fine out there leaving your gear.
Wow! Great video. I’m looking at going there in Feb or Mar. Is there a water spigot at the primitive campground where you stayed? Or did you have to carry in all your water?
Thank you! You will love this park! So there is not any water at any of the backcountry campsites but they are only 1-1.3 miles away from the trailhead...it’s easy to carry more than enough water for your trip. Have a great trip!
Well, the main part of this park is within the canyon...along the canyon floor. All of the campsites I have seen are down inside the canyon and not up high. The Haynes Ridge trail is the best trail to see down into the canyon. You’ll love the campsites here...they are great!
Thanks for sharing your time; I couldn't find much information about this, so I appreciated your level of detail!

Hey thank you! Glad it was helpful! Yeah this trail can be challenging at times but it’s not too bad. Hope y’all have a great trip!

Yeah it really surprised me...totally fell in love with this place...and its half the drive of going to Big Bend.
Wow that place is gorgeous! Thanks for sharing your hike
Sure thing! It's definitely unexpected in that part of Texas
@@TheNotLostNomad for sure!
Great guide. Can't beat being outdoors.
Thank you! It’s always great to get out there!
I’m headed that way Saturday. Thanks for the trip/video info. Lots of help. Never been and excited about going
Hey you bet! I hope your trip is great! Let me know how it goes out there!
Thx for the video, we hope to visit the park in 2022
You bet! This is such a cool park...you’ll love it! It’s small but packs a great punch with the scenery and wildlife!

@@CameronHall88 , both of them set the mood for this trip for sure...Colter Wall will put you back in the 1800’s like you are in a western
Nice video! Love our Texas parks.
Thank you! So many great parks!

@@TheNotLostNomad Oh god, that makes for a good story. Up there with having a bear in your camp lol.
Fantastic video. Nice editing!

Thank you! It’s a beautiful hike! Congrats on your channel as well!
I’m scared to leave my gear at a site. What would you recommend keeping with you during the day?

Amazing... is there a way to hike and camp on a trail that leads to a canyon? I remember going there and was wondering if it was possible. Thank you.

Did you have to carry in your own water?
Yes, I carried all of my water but it’s a short hike to the campsites. It’s easy to bring more than enough water!
This is an awesome video and convinced me to visit in the spring when I'm in the area. Question: What camera did you shoot the video with?
Hey thanks man! You’ll love it there... this park is one of my favorites! I use a GoPro 5 with a gimbal.
@@TheNotLostNomad Thanks for the reply. Happy trails!
You should drink whisky when backpacking. Much easier to carry. ;-)
Yes it is! It’s not my favorite but I still enjoy it! The good thing about these backcountry sites is that they are only a mile in!
Great video and great music but the music is a little bit too loud..can barely hear you talking.
Yeah this was a few years back…I’ve since learned to tone the music back a bit. Glad you enjoyed it!
