    Excellent work Jay! I like how you pointed out that you learn different things from doing different types of shows; it really shows your willingness to be open to magic. I feel the exact same way about slight of hand. I saw a magician when I was young and he performed the French Drop and it amazed me so much that it turned out to be key to getting me started in magic. I see slight of hand as an art and you are one that really performs it with skill. Thanks for reminding me of the pure form of slight of hand.

    Wow Jay,I really did see the coin in your left hand, after you pulled your right hand back- what a powerful illusion, with something I know well( not that I can do coin magic sleights, but I know how most of them are done) This shows that 90% of any trick is delivery and performance rather than 10% being the method!

    in the end isnt magic just a word for something you cant understand? tell someone in the 1600 i got a thing like a mirror that lets me talk to people far away and even see them......i mean you properly get burnd on stake. same withe the potential within , maybe its there, always been but we have to learn to understand our self to understand our potential. as we had to understand nature to discover the potential that lies within her.
    an thats maight be the reason why we play with coins, or throwcatch balls or ride on a skateboard, cause it teaches you about your self, dosnt it?

  • @adamemac
    @adamemac 7 лет назад

    My favorite was the "clipped" one. You said it, Jay, there's something about seeing your thumb completely extended that really sells the idea that your hand is totally empty. On a deeper level, maybe it's primitive logic (Think I just made that term up.. I _coined_ that phrase. Ba-dum-tiss!) ANYWAY, since the beginning of mankind, we've relied so much on our thumbs to grip things (I really believe it's THE workhorse of our hands. ) that when it's shown outstretched from the other 4 fingers, we instinctively think the hand MUST be empty. The 3rd and 4th fingers spread out only reinforces that thought.
    Also, I like that the technique still has that moment where the light hits the coin, makes it all the more authentic.
    I know it shouldn't matter on how you pick the winners, but have I told you lately how much I LOVE mentalism tricks? Haha

    Great video my friend. I just found your channel and WILL sub ! I did an illusion show for years and was fortunate to perform at IBM conventions and Opryland USA, one season. But my true passion was sleight of hand. I did a two-hand billiard ball routine, but never was proficient in coins. The French drop is the first thing every young magician learns, in spite of it's shortcomings. What you've shown here is excellent, so thank you for the valuable lessons. You do an amazing job with your videos.

    First of all, great vid! I love coin magic. So, thank you for taking the time to explain the finer details and nuances of this particular vanish. Normally, I appreciate and agree with your choices/reasons for performing a particular effect the way that you do, but, this time, not so much. I disagree that the second method of performing the vanish is better than the first one you showed. For two reasons. 1. I think the "visual flash" of the coin going into the other hand can be seen more in the first method than in the second one. 2. The second method uses an "unnatural" way of taking the coin. Therefore, in my opinion, I would be calling unnecessary attention/suspicion to that hand. In many of your videos, you have said that you should try to have a reason for doing any piece of your effect the way that you're doing it. In all my years of transferring a coin from one hand to the other, very rarely have I ever felt the need to take the coin palm down. On the contrary, I feel I would be inviting the danger of having the coin accidentally falling to the floor by doing so. So, based solely on those two reasons, I would not choose to take the coin palm-down. But, again, I greatly admire your magic skills and talent in performing.Undobtedly, you'reway better at magic than I am, so I really hope you don't take my comments as criticising or disrespectful. I would have just as quickly made the same comments to David Copperfield, David Blaine, or Criss Angel. You're the best, bro.
