I had a Ninja when we were doing our grandchildren’s childcare. Must have made hundreds of fruit smoothies for them. It stopped working after they went off to full time school. Almost like it was too sad to go on without them.

When I married and had children, I determined that I would make their baby food. Armed with a steamer basket and a mouli, my little ones, after being introduced to one food item at a time, simply ate what we did. Beech-nut and Gerber wouldn't get rich off us. Today those babies are grown and married. They've given me five grandchildren between them. But the memories of parenting them are cherished and oft revisited.

We followed a similar route for our children when it came time for them to start eating solids. They ate what we ate (with some modifications). I remember buying a jar of Gerber baby food (mostly for the jar, as my hubby used them for storing hardware), trying some of it, and being utterly repulsed by the bland taste and mushy texture. Kiddo wasn't crazy about it either

@@tamaratamtammorris8151 One of my cousins used to buy baby food puddings to take to the movie theater as a snack. When my sister had her baby in 1971, her pediatrician advised warming the veggies and adding a bit of butter, salt, and pepper to them. He also advised her to warm up the potted meats and add a bit of either stock or gravy to make them more palatable.

Sonya, you can buy ice cube trays with lids. I recently bought a few of them and I love that you can close them up and just pop them in the freezer. I use them for when I open chicken or beef broth and I have some leftover. I used to put the leftover broth in the fridge, vowing to make something with it in the next few days, only to find it had been buried in the back of the fridge and forgotten. Now I just freeze the broth in the cube trays and once they are frozen I store the cubes in a Ziploc to use when needed. I also do the same when I have lemons I haven't used yet and don't want them to go bad. I got my ice cube trays with the lids on Amazon, but I've seen them before at Marshalls and TJMaxx, too.

Sonya, if you mash the yolk of a hard-boiled egg with a fork until it is very fine, and then fold it into store-bought mayo, the mayo will taste more like homemade. If you drizzle a couple of drops of lemon juice or olive oil over the cooked egg yolk, it will be easier to mash to the right consistency before adding it to the mayo.

I use ice cubes trays to just squeeze ripe mangos pieces and juices during the season in Hawaii it’s plentiful. Then we bag them and use it for smoothies. Guava season I make jelly so delicious. Best part is guava’s grow wild so it’s free and mangos people give you a lot because the trees are loaded. My grandson is a monkey he eats so much mango it’s his favorite for sure.

Then bigger pieces they ate as finger food. So easy, and no, baby food companies never made money off me!
