Please tell people who are worried about what you’re feeding your children to mind their own business…you are a wonderful mother and from what I see your children seem to be happy and healthy
The meals you show are well balanced and tasty, a bag of chips is not going to do anything, people just like to complain and criticize. You do awesome ❤❤. I wish I ate that healthy. My mom had 7, and she said by the time she had my brother, ❤who was the 6th, she was having trouble with milk production, but they didn't have all the research they do now.
@@JJ-kf4kc It’s wonderful to compliment an individual! Sonya deserves more than a compliment, so, if you don’t have anything positive or nice SCROLL OUT 😊
The same people criticizing you for feeding your family snacks of chips are the same people who buy and eat (and feed their kids) hot pockets, pizza egg rolls, uncrustables, and make a couple trips each week through the Drive-thru and drink $7 venti cold foam lattes. You cook everything from scratch and are scrupulous with what you buy and serve for your family meals. They're just envious of you. I love your food and grocery hauls.
I'm 64 now, but I also nursed 5 babies (twins too!) and I found that those growth spurts came on the "3s", meaning: 3 weeks, 3 months, 6 months, 9 months, and a year. I found the best thing (and the hardest for mommies) is lots of rest, nourishing food and fluids, and most importantly: let that baby nurse as often as he/she wants. More nursing=increased milk supply. As good as pumps are nowadays, babies are still the best pumps! Nurse til he's full, and then still pump afterwards too, and help during those difficult times. And once they are on solids, nurse first when he's really hungry and then offer solids afterwards. These are just the things that helped me. You yourself being a nurse and experienced mother will figure out what works for you and your little fellow.
You are, indeed, an inspiration. While tending to the needs of your own family you so graciously tend to the needs of others, too! You bring Proverbs 31 to life.
@@SonyasPrep Ya you're doing a fantastic job ❤. It can be fun and exciting for children to get a treat. Baruch Hashem 😊. Be well. Shalom 🙏🏻..
I nursed for two years. Definitely more fluids, but also some dark beer. Not a lot, but some with your dinner. The darker, sweeter richer kind. And I agree with the reader who said to nurse whenever the baby wants it. And you and your family are just amazing.
Why do people think they have to explain what they buy? It's no one's business and I don't get it. You do a wonderful job for your family! I like watching you!
I love, love, love hearing your children playing, squealing and bickering in the background because it reminds me of when my 5 were small while I was trying to fix dinner or feed the baby or even chat on the phone with a friend for a few minutes. I cannot imagine how you do all you do, Sonya, but I admire you tremendously for sharing parts of your life with us.
I told our butcher once that I washed my meat before cooking it. He said that was a good idea. The meal that you prepared for the new Mom looked delicious!❤
People who critisize others have too much time on their hands. I often buy those snacks too. Better that size then the large ones 😅. Everything in moderation
Sonya my biggest tip regarding milk supply is to pump 5 minutes past being empty. I nursed & pumped for my triplets and had a significant oversupply even for triplets. It can help stimulate the body to make more instead of maintaining the current or decreasing. I was so thirsty all the time I had large cups of ice water at my bedside and next to where I nursed & pumped. Best wishes to you and your sweet family. ❤
I also bought a giant box of chips for the summer for the kids. Plus s’more supplies. Don’t listen to the naysayers. A few summer treats make kids happy and warm summer memories. And now in our community people really do not do food for new babies. But lots of gifts for the baby shower. My mom came down to stay with us after having our kids. My sil came too. For the milk tips: drink a lot, including some beer. After 6 months, milk supply is naturally decreasing, corresponding to the time you start introducing food. It all makes sense. Go with the flow, do not worry . As for your response to comment about your food choice: brilliant. Yes any amount of time you managed to nurse your babies is a plus!! Bone broth is great for your bones also...as you get older that's going be more significant..

I gave up my Costco membership when I could not get past the book tables. As a teachers, I could buy story books to read to my classes, books for my children, and books for my spouse and me. That was before I hit the food aisles and the sample grazing tables.
I never get out of Costco for less than $200. I love to buy the individual snack size bags of chips/popcorn/crackers for my family. They make a quick convenient snack and they are a great size to limit the “junk”.

Staying hydrated and eating fruits have helped with breastfeeding. My youngest is a year and we are going strong. He is bby 5 all nursed different time frames from 2 months to almost 3 years. Great job mama! Love the grocery haul as well 😊
It's such a wonderful blessing to take a meal to a new mom. We do that with our church community, too, new moms, people recovering from surgery, illness, etc. I also share meals within my neighborhood to folks. The disposable foil pans are so nice to save the family clean up & return. They will teally enjoy that meal.
Where I live I am not close to a Costco or Sam's Club or anything like that but I have never gone into the store and got just what I wanted prime example I went to the store Friday to get a loaf of bread let's just say $200 later I came home and put away the loaf of bread and everything else blessings to you and yours
Lactation tea seemed to help me... as well as making sure I was nursing on demand and more snuggle time as much as possible. You are doing all the right things. :)
In india we have dry fruits grounded coarsely store them in refrigerator....then take 1 tbsp of this mixture add to glass of boiling milk...cook it to half and eat it 2 times a day
Oatmeal is a wonderful food for nursing mothers. During my babies' first few months of life, I had a bowl of oatmeal every morning, as well as my husband's oatmeal cookies to help with my breastmilk supply. Plus, oatmeal makes a great first food for infants old enough to begin solids. You're a blessing to your community, Sonya!
I love overnight oatmeal, especially in the summer because it's a cold cereal, not cooked. Half a cup of oatmeal, half a cup of oat milk or almond milk, then add in raisins, berries, or nuts to taste, and refrigerate overnight. I also add a tablespoon of powdered peanut butter. You can also make it with regular milk instead of a nut milk if you prefer.
I’ve seen that lowering carbohydrate intake which will decrease your insulin levels could greatly increase breast milk supply. Eating high in fats is also helpful during this. I tried oatmeal while breast feeding and the spike in insulin only decreased my supply.
I live in Israel and also watch you from here and I am amazed how much kosher food you can get at Costco. Love your programme I think you are wonderful working and kids and cook fresh and run a household. Amazing how the kids grow and Baruch Hashem can help. All the best and Shabat Shalom.
Fenugreek tea bags help with milk production.U can buy fenugreek seeds from any Indian grocery store and make your own tea or u can buy the teabags from any health food store.
You are just the sweetest woman. What a lucky friend to have to bring her food to help out. I had 5 babies and the only time I ever got help was when our 2nd baby passed away at 1 year old. I appreciate all your videos. Very inspiring.
For your milk supply try fenugreek and blessed thistle, you can buy them in a pill format or cook with fenugreek. You can also try, if you have time, power pumping
Hi Sonya! Thank you for taking time out of your busy day to post these videos. I enjoy watching them very much. I have learned so many useful things from you! What you do for each other in your community is very nice. It's always good to have support from family and friends when going through hard times. God bless you all! 🙏❤
I struggled to keep my milk supply up with my last baby. (I worked full-time also.) The simple fact is that our bodies get worn out. I worked on increasing my protein, resting at home as much as I could (since I had lots of kiddos at home too) and letting my baby nurse as much as he wanted. I was able to successfully nurse as long as my doctor suggested, but I have to admit it was a challenge. Remember to be good to yourself; take care of yourself ❤❤. You're doing great. You just have a lot on your plate.
I once bought a 25-lb. bag of brown rice a few years ago, either at Sam's or Costco (I think the latter). It got buggy. 🤮No freezer then, now I have two large chest freezers and one dedicated stand-up. Flour and grains (I mill a lot of my own flour) go in the freezer now. White flour's usually not a bug problem but the flour stays in better shape in the freezer.
I breast-fed twins, never had a problem with supply. My mother had twins, also, same deal, but she did tell me her doctor recommended beer! That was in the '40s. Who knows? I do recall I could eat everything in sight and not gain a poiund. Those were the days.
I fully agree everything in moderation. I believe showing children how to eat that way allows them to learn how make good choices with little treats sprinkled in.
My mother gave us snacks throughout our childhood. We turned out well. We ate sugar and nothing happened. Concerning the grains, both my mom and my grandmother told me to freeze them and my flour for at least a week. Good advice, they know what works!
Try Fenugreek, Fennel or Nettle tea for your milk supply. There are a couple of teas, Mothers milk tea and Milk Maid tea. Drink lots of water! Good luck!
what worked for me in terms of nursing my 2 kids, was eating lots of healthy fats, cheese, cakes, and butter, I gained weight, but I had milk! it was relatively easy to lose weight after returning to a diet with less fatty foods.
Hi Sonya! When I make my bone broth, I roast some vegetables with the bones along with some wine. I then cook the broth in my electric roaster. I do add some fresh vegetables when I cook it in the roaster. I usually cook the broth for 12-24 hours. It comes out great. I pressure can it so it has shelf life. I bought an electric pressure canner to do this more easily. My niece is a chef and she’s the one who suggested that I roast the vegetables. Love your videos and recipes! I don’t know how you do it all!!
You look AMAZING Sonja. Post baby 6 months . Everything in moderation.. At 43 I need I am looking for collagen. For my joint Bone broth is rich in collagen. I found a collagen chai latte. Collagen decreased in your late 30's..
In Puerto Rico we use “sesame orchata” y toasted sesame, in the processor put sesame, almond milk, brown sugar, can use vanilla as flavoring and cinnamon Mix everything, strain and take 1 cup cold or hot as much as you can during day. It use to work 1 cup taken, 6-8 onz breastmilk out! So good. Also fenugreek tea knowed as mothermilk tea. Hope it helps
I used fenugreek seed to help with my milk with my first. I had extreme supply issues and was not able to feed my second with breast milk. With my first I took fenugreek capsules, you have to take enough that your armpits smell like maple syrup. I also pumped after every feeding. The extra pumping was supposed to help supply.
Or Sam’s Club! We do our bulk shopping there, as the nearest Costco is in the next county and I don’t have many reasons to justify the gas used in the drive over there (a minimum-wage paycheck only goes so far!). But it takes a LOT of self-restraint to go in either place and come out with just the one or two items you need, and usually that part of the trip ends up being an epic “fail!”
Nursing in demand always worked for me. I went two years with my first two children. Keeping them close and nursing as they “asked” gave me rest and kept my milk supply up😊♥️
Yes, in my church community we bring meals to new parents, and for other less happy events. When my dad died, we had so much food brought to us, we needed help to eat it all.
I don't know if you have access to stinging nettles. I can recommend having "older" stinging nettles in the broth. The younger ones that are about 2 inches are good to use in soup (instead of spinach), quiche or crepes. The quiche and crepes are milk based.
OMG what a lucky friend to have you sending her your food! I like sending a meal kit vs. an opened box, but since you need the ingredients to make her meals I would say either is fine. COSTCO - that store was made for Sonya’s Prep, they have giant everything! For single me I always struggle to use stuff fast enough! I am an no expert on lactation by far, however, a friend once shared that consuming beer has a positive effect on milk supply! In the middle ages, water could be unsafe to drink so even new moms were drinking beer with their breakfasts! Grateful boys have no such worries! Moms rock! Cheers, Michael Albuquerque NM USA
Fenugreek for increasing milk supply. You can steep it and drink it as a tea or make fenugreek cookies. Lots of recipes online. Works like a charm. Takes a couple days to see an increase, but it works!
Fed is best❤ I struggled to produce any supply. Just keep doing your best. Also don't listen to the haters. The key is to feed your kids good stuff most of the time which is what you're doing. Anyone who watches the show knows that you provide your kids with tons of fruits and vegetables.❤
Ejoy your visits, as a young mommy I used brewers yeast. For me this worked very well. Because we lived overseas we made trips home, the yeast was easy to carry and store.
Dear, please try warm tea or warm water. Also walnuts and a spoon of condensed milk after each feeding or bump. As well as rice and cooked onions. Let me know how well it worked for you. Best of luck to you
Hey Sonya, in some hispanic cultures sesame drink which is yummy is said to be good for breast milk production. There is also a tea called mothers milk. Awesome videos, shalom!

At 43 I need I am looking for collagen. For my joint Bone broth is rich in collagen. I found a collagen chai latte. Collagen decreased in your late 30's..
In Puerto Rico we use “sesame orchata” y toasted sesame, in the processor put sesame, almond milk, brown sugar, can use vanilla as flavoring and cinnamon
Mix everything, strain and take 1 cup cold or hot as much as you can during day. It use to work 1 cup taken, 6-8 onz breastmilk out! So good.
Also fenugreek tea knowed as mothermilk tea.
Hope it helps
My community does the Meal Train for new babies, illness, and deaths. It is such a good mitzvah. The families are so grateful.
Nutritional yeast for lactation
You can never buy 2 things at Costco lol
😂😝
Or Sam’s Club! We do our bulk shopping there, as the nearest Costco is in the next county and I don’t have many reasons to justify the gas used in the drive over there (a minimum-wage paycheck only goes so far!). But it takes a LOT of self-restraint to go in either place and come out with just the one or two items you need, and usually that part of the trip ends up being an epic “fail!”
We love you Sonya. Only blessings for you and yours
Blessings to you as well
Nursing in demand always worked for me. I went two years with my first two children. Keeping them close and nursing as they “asked” gave me rest and kept my milk supply up😊♥️
You are such a sweet, kind person. God bless.
Yes, in my church community we bring meals to new parents, and for other less happy events. When my dad died, we had so much food brought to us, we needed help to eat it all.
In my community, the grandmothers - will take care of the meals as they help with the care of the the family.
So interesting how it works. Thank you for sharing
I used Fenugreek for milk supply. You can but it in tea or supplement form.
Fenugreek for increasing milk supply. You can steep it and drink it as a tea or make fenugreek cookies. Lots of recipes online. Works like a charm. Takes a couple days to see an increase, but it works!
I used Fenugreek supplements. Super effective. Also try a bit more pumping and drink lots of water. Good luck!!
Fed is best❤ I struggled to produce any supply. Just keep doing your best. Also don't listen to the haters. The key is to feed your kids good stuff most of the time which is what you're doing. Anyone who watches the show knows that you provide your kids with tons of fruits and vegetables.❤
Wowwww beautiful sharring dear..enjoy here..good luck😍🌹💞💕
I’m so glad you wash your meats, so do I, I was also raised like that. I’ve seen some people who don’t wash the meat and season and cook like that.
What a great meal to take to a new mom!
Ejoy your visits, as a young mommy I used brewers yeast. For me this worked very well. Because we lived overseas we made trips home, the yeast was easy to carry and store.
Dear one - you are such a blessing and an inspiration. Your bone broth looks delicious. Be well.🌻
Dear, please try warm tea or warm water. Also walnuts and a spoon of condensed milk after each feeding or bump. As well as rice and cooked onions. Let me know how well it worked for you. Best of luck to you
Can’t wait to try this. Thank you
Like you said, enough liquids. And I've been told dark beer helps with the supply.
SONYA what a nice thing to do for the new mommy ❤️ love the children playing in the background 😊🥰🦋🦋🦋🌻🌻🌻🐝
Try tapioca pearls....they certainly work! You can make pudding or just soak overnight in water, drain and eat that with milk and fruits and nuts.
Hey Sonya, in some hispanic cultures sesame drink which is yummy is said to be good for breast milk production. There is also a tea called mothers milk. Awesome videos, shalom!
I remember I drank a lot of fluid, especially water, and I either let my child drink more or I pumped more...pumping helps a lot and freeze the milk
I drank lots of water when I was nursing. Also plenty of rest and exercise.
I was given lots of ripe papaya from my mom to help with breastfeeding. I had good production until I went back to work.
😂Sonya, you are so right about Costco! 😂two items turn to four, and so on! 😂
You are so calm while doing so much. You are amazing.
😊 thank you
What a blessing. Just absolutely love your spirit and your tone. You are amazing!
I believe there is a tea at whole foods and maybe Trader Joe’s that’s supposed to help our milk supply too!
Doesn’t look like it helps me
What a lovely Vlog.I used to live in the USA and the neighbours were kind and caring always looking out for the other. Now here in the Uk, Its a different and very sad story.Neighbours do not talk, want to hurt each other all based on their religion. Its sad the world is going this way.xxxx
It really is so sad
I love chips too!!!!! xoxoxo + it's best to enjoy the food that we are thankful for!
Yes! Maxi Milk drops. They’ve worked for me! Also, green smoothies with protein in it. Have helped me every time. And staying hydrated ❤️
God bless You! I was just in Brooklyn we visited the Jewish community. I loved it! Such lovely people with good morals and believes. I want to go back people are full of life there. Happy children. I just felt so welcome with my little ones and family. Honestly, Jewish people are my favorite people. The sweetest, most caring I’ve ever met. Such happy, friendly people 😊🙏🏼💕 the culture and everything. I hope to visit Jerusalem one day. 🥰🥰
You are in our prayers.🙏🏼💕
