"Na zdrowie " ("lets do it to be healthy") has it roots in the medieval ages and the way of drinking vodka in the old Poland .Vodka was drinked in Poland in a small amount since the medieval ages up to 17th century (still in Polish way you should drink it very cold, in a very small glasses, also to feel for a moment a special taste of good vodka) , and was treated as a kind of very fine medicine (for good digestion or feeling warm during the cold autumn, winter). Poles preferred beer and vine at that time as an regular alcohol, and vodka - as a good, small starter of the dinner or good thing for saying good bye to your visitor from the neighbourhood. Russians took the concept of distillation, the name "vodka" and toast "na zdrowie" from Poles, but not the way of drinking it (they drunk it and, traditionally, drink it up to now from the normal glasses, not cold and because of it often not so tasty). Also, started to made it not from potatoes or grain as Poles, but only from grain, more available at that time in Russia. In 18th century vodka became the tool of controlling peasants in Russia.
