As an American, I admire Poland and the Polish . Those people did a great deal to save all of Europe from Islamic Conquest. they fought off the Ottoman Empire's powerful forces, with help from the Holy League, their Euro allies, about 450 years ago. That was nothing but heroic and God was with them. They had cavalry units called the " Winged Hussars" who actually wore feathered wings on horseback while fighting. @@tonyherdina9142 The Polish/Lithuanian Commonwealth(once the largest country in all of Europe) was partitioned(invaded and occupied) by the Prussian, Russian and Austro-Hungarian Empires in the years 1792 - 1795 until the end of WW1 in 1918. The Prussians(later to form Germany in the 1870's) and the Russians embarked on a strategy of Germanification and Russification by moving people out of Poland/Lithuanian Commonwealth (mainly done by Russia). In the areas they controlled usage of Polish Language was frowned upon, schools had to teach Prussian and Russian only, Polish books were banned, music etc was also banned yet people maintained the language and culture and when freed in 1918 Poland arose again. Everything East of Poland remained heavily influenced by Russia and some could say, ideologically at least, totally Russified as Russia sent lots of local people to Russia and replaced them with Russians. But that is another story history buffs should acquaint themselves with to understand the geopolitics of Central and Eastern Europe and why Russia believes so many countries even today are really Russian(such as Ukraine). Many people in the West sadly know very little of the history of Central and eastern Europe as the iron curtain Russia built several years after ww2 turned Europe into East/West whilst most Central/Eastern European countries that were linked with Russia did not have much choice about their ties with Russia as they were governed mainly by puppet governments until the collapse of the USSR in 1989-1993.

@@teek.1059 Correct form is German concentration camps. Many people don't know that the Nazis were Germans. The term is intentionally used interchangeably to forget about German crimes and to whitewash the nation, which is why the 'Nazi alien' was invented. Meanwhile, Germany still hasn't paid reparations to Poland. Every other country received compensation except Poland, the nation most wronged in this war, practically leveled to the ground, received nothing. Everything had to be rebuilt from scratch with our own labor and money, and on top of that, the Russians from the other side... Germany built its economic power on the plundered Poland. To this day, they still hold Polish works of art, not to mention the gold. Poland has been constantly invaded by various powers and had to start over repeatedly. And now, Poles are being portrayed as oppressors and thieves. There is no justice in this world.
@@teek.1059 correct name is German Nazi concentration camp. It was very nice to watch and pleasant to listen to. Personally, next to the name of Nicolaus Copernicus, who was mentioned, for which, as a Pole, I would like to thank you in advance, I would add one more significant name and there would probably be more: Stefan Banach. One of the greatest mathematicians of the last century. Luminaries of world science like W.G. Mathews and D.O. Hirsch wrote almost 20 years ago that "mathematics is the science to which Polish scientists have contributed the most in the present century." There are many anecdotes associated with Stefan Banach. Let me quote one of them: In the 1920s, John von Neumann, the creator of the world's first electronic computer and the creator of the famous game theory, came to Lviv three times, trying to convince Banach to go overseas. During his last visit in 1937, von Neuman showed Banach a check on which he had written a one and offered to add as many zeros as he wanted if Banach agreed to emigrate. The mathematician laconically stated "this sum is too small to leave Poland ... too small"; It is also worth adding that Banach was the creator and architect of the so-called Lviv school of mathematics, which included the Polish-American mathematician, co-creator of the American thermonuclear bomb - Stanisław Ulam. In addition, at the Technological Museum in Chicago, Banach's name was placed next to Copernicus among the greatest mathematicians of all time. To sum up: I liked it.

one more thing worth mentioning is that the Polish state was wiped off the map of the world for 123 years. the territory was occupied by Russia, Germany and Austria. citizens were tried to be denationalized, sent to Siberia, the use of the Polish language was forbidden, but the Poles never gave up. We will not bow to communism. we regained our freedom. Poles can be won, but not defeated. when we fall, we always get up.

Fun fact - the Błędowska Desert was originally a vast concentration of medieval iron forges. The constant heat and disposal of slag into the surrounding grounds eroded the earth to the point of irreversible desertification. Quite a feat given our climate. These days, the desert is split into two parts - one is closed off to civilians, as it is used by our military (mostly stress testing of heavy equipment and desert simulations), and the second one is mostly frequented by dirt bikers, atv riders and offroaders ;)

That's why Poles are happy if someone says anything in polish. There is nothing to be ashamed of If you can't. You can speak English with ease. A lot of people in Poland speak English. In general, Poles learn foreign languages because no one expects Polish in an international environment. Come and visit. See for yourself. We are nice people 😊❤🙏

- no, donuts are American pączki.
I always say that learning the Polish language is what makes Polish people so intelligent on average!

I left Poland 48 years ago. I did work in 4 continents. But Poland is the best in all areas. I Am very proud to be Polish.
Poland disappeared from the map for over 100years and yet we got up and we are “still standing”🎉❤
We rose and always will rise like PHOENIX FROM the ashes.
What country was it when it disappeared?

5:23 Auschwitz Birkenau - German concentration camp(s) in German-occupied Poland
thanks for clarification im sure nobody heard about biggest, most fameous nazi concentration camp
Exactly, had to unlike the video for that reason and will not recommend to others.
@@teek.1059Masz rację. Pozdrowienia z Polski 👍
@@teek.1059 correct name is German Nazi concentration camp. Germans even change their language, Normal they use Konzentration Lager and keep the "Lager" only to concentration word, and they change from Lager to Kempf as normal place like student lager etc, because they want to forget time of Nazi Lager/camp, and Kempf is more similar to english word.

You mentioned the number 3 and it’s relevance in the culture. One funny thing is that this video has 44 points which also fills in another important number. Every high school freshman in Poland has to learn about the importance of number 44 in polish martyrology (easiest way to kill the buzz in a party is to say “and the name he bears is forty and four”)
Both come from the Bible...
44 - my first thought was: Adam Mickiewicz "Dziady" cz. III
Szczerze nie wiedziałam że ta liczba ma jakieś znaczenie w naszym kraju
A jego imie czterdziesci i cztery. Magiczna liczba z kabaly. Pewien badacz pisma powiedzial mi ze to imie Chrystusa.

I know that Polish is very difficult for English speakers to pronounce so it's probably normal, but - almost all Polish words mentioned here were read very incorrectly (Wieliczka and Toruń were okay though).
A few tips:
Ł = English W (and not L even if it looks similar)
Polish W = English V
We never read C the same as K. Especially "Wrocław" read as if it ended with the English word "claw" in it was hard for me to understand.

I never heard so many polish names, places and words been speak so funny and totally not-sounding-polish 😅 but I respect the work trying to pronounce them 😉 Funny fact - many Polish people will love U for trying speaking our language 🥰 it's usually saw as cute and as a sign of respect 😄
When I think about Poland, the first thing that comes o my mind, is Polish sausage. But I am pretty sure, there is more to Poland than just Polish sausage. 🙂🙃🙂🙃🙂
Poland is the central of europe. This place is most beautiful and peaceful country.🇵🇱❤😀
Peaceful? Apparently a Sikh went yo a nightclub and beaten up so bad as they though he was muslim😂😂😂😂
Hi, I live in Poland since birth. Please don't talk about Auschwitz like it's a Polish camp. It's a camp in Poland but built by nazis and we don't take responsibility for the horrors that happened there. Thanks.
PS. I love your pronounciation, it's always so funny when a foreigner attempts Polish ☺️
I ate dumplings in Chicago with a Pole. Beautiful country and people
Wonderful Love it
Kocham polske
I love Poland and it's people! I definitely look forward to returning.
Mistake on the picture. French president is not our president. We have our own president Andrzej Duda.
Unfortunately 😂
D.u.d.u to ukraiński prezydent.
Dupa😂

Nie pleć głupot. Czemu takie jak ty pustaki, muszą popisywać się swoją głupotą na obcych kanałach? Wstyd.
It was Marie Składowska-Curie 6:03. Składowska is her first surname and 2nd one is from her french husband. But yeah, she was from Poland

Poland was great when we visited in the summer of 2022. The best dinner I have ever had was roast duck there. Also home to my favorite hotel. The breakfast buffet was unbelievable. The people were so nice and the countryside was beautiful.
i was born, bred, and raised in the US, but live in Poland. It's a great place to live!
