That won't work. Like seriously, this won't work well. Boss fight AI is part of the game design. If an AI assumes the responsibility of the boss AI the design will probably end being dog shit (just like the average AI creation)
Wait, what if the boss only spamming their most op move over and over? Because the AI will think that if they spam their strongest move, then their winning chance is higher
If that starts happening, the devs would probably introduce cooldowns to it, or some other form of limiting those overpowered moves. Also, think about it the other way around. I have a couple concerns about this. One, is Asterion an animal driven by sentience, or is it intended to appear sapient? This is an important distinction because it determines how it should react to stimuli and how it strategizes. An animal would not prioritize the healer since it is not actively harming it, instead focusing on the tank or other damage dealers as greater threats, whereas a sapient creature has the awareness necessary to recognize that a healer prevents it from defeating the tank. Second, the fact it can learn from past defeats means it will eventually be able to anticipate any reasonable strategy human players will employ, ultimately making the game unbeatable, and therefore not fun. Unless the boss is capable of remembering past experiences per game lore, this is an unfair advantage. This includes learning from past deaths or from experiences with NPC heroes who permanently ‘died’ when attempting to fight Asterion.

It may be intelligent in the way the boss uses its abilities and when, but the abilities themselves are what the developers coded for the encounter, so the boss won´t be creating new ones. Also, they have telltale signs to alert the player of incoming attacks, and what boss ability could be.
We'll have to watch it because there are a lot of questions. 1 - still the boss attack pool will be done by humans. And this already puts a very strong question under this technology. 2 - even assuming that it will work unexpectedly for the player may very much affect the balance. Kinda. But the ai approach sounds interesting. The Trailer says it. It could make grindy games like helldivers pr monster hunter fresh and exiting every attempt.
Even tough the boss is capable of changing the whole fight strategy with every try, it's abilities are still restricted.
