I was unable to get it to connect until you reminded me that the headset had to be turned on, then it worked beautifully. I installed the QuadLock CarPlay adapter and use the Harley branded SENA 50 for my headset. Just installed it and will follow up after some use. The wired Harley headset will work too.
Great video. So, do you have to have the headset on to get it to work? I’m trying to find a solution without my headset in case the battery dies on the headset. Thank you.
You will need the jumper if you do not have the whim. Amazon sells it amzn.to/44g0xCX For some reason, HD decided to force a headset before carplay will work. The jumper fixes that.
I have a CVO and therefore a WHIM. Will non-HD headsets (mine didn't come with one as the original owner kept it) work with the WHIM, and therefore [wireless] CarPlay via this adapter do you know? I already had a Sena 50S before buying the bike that I take delivery of next weekend!
@@SnifftyDugan I’m debating whether to disconnect the WHIM and use one of those cheap Amazon ‘fooler’ devices (along with the wireless CarPlay adapter) and have music through the speakers and Waze on the screen. No, I won’t be able to take calls or use voice commands, but to do that and even have the thing work at all with the WHIM (just to SEE CarPlay/Waze etc), I *HAVE* to have the Bluetooth headset (which I also need to buy) and I have to have it connected. Every. Single. Journey. 😒
@@LukeTPZ Youll need the whim for the wireless headset, but you can use what you have and connect it to your phone instead. It gets messy!!! I tried it a few different ways when I first upgraded the head unit and I ended up with the HD headset.
@@SnifftyDugan I’ll have a play around. I kinda want the headset option for long-distance, but don’t particularly want a headset attached for every single journey (which, as I understand it, means CarPlay won’t work as the WHIM isn’t recognising a headset connected).
@@MatteoBerti74 List price is approx. $1900 US, but I was lucky enough to get a nice discount that brought it down to $1475 and I then used a bunch of credits I had, so it really only cost me a few hundred dollars. Its not cheap, the main reason I went with the HD radio is because I use the CB and thumb switches and the after market radios do not support the CB.

Curious about the wired setup

Yes!!!!!! It drove me nuts. You can buy a jumper on Amazon to allow Carplay without the WHIM and headset though.
Hi there. How was it? Still happy with it? Can feel any lag or disconnect? Was looking at it for my ultra limited
I just came back from Outer Banks (450 miles one way) and used it all day. I love it! To me it was worth it.
@@SnifftyDugan thanks for the prompt reply. Really appreciate it. Good to know you like it and its working well. Thanks for the input.

I’m confused! So what if I don’t have that wimm you mention will it still work? I have a 2023

@@SnifftyDugan how will I know if I have the whim?
@@thedigi1 The only bikes it comes with are the CVO's. If you bought it used, check the radio settings, you will see wireless headset settings.
Any idea if this will work with Android Auto and a WHIM?
I believe this is for Apple Carplay only. A buddy has this one for Android and loves it. amzn.to/3KFmdBd

They work but the sound in the headset is terrible. Everything is in mono. Been there done that. I now own an HD version. :)

@@LukeTPZ yep! I usually have mine on so I can answer any calls coming in.
does it work on road glide 2018?
You need the newer Boom GTS Radio for Carplay. I upgraded my 2018 Boom Audio to the newer radio.

@@SnifftyDugan May I ask how much does the radio upgrade cost? I would like to do that too on my 2018 road glide thank you very much
