Thanks for the video, its been a big help. One thing I found was that when I took the main bulb out, the spring clip fell out as well. That's when I realised this is German engineering at its best - the spring clip allows you to replace the bulb from the back of the unit ie without prising the front lens off and without taking the middle cover section off as well. From the back of the unit you just take hold of the end of the clip sticking up above the unit and lift the clip up and it then slides out bringing the bulb with it Fit the new bulb in the non-clip end of the unit and then put the other end in the clip and then slide the clip and bulb back in to position - genius.
My 3 positions switch (0, door open, on) is not working properly. Sometimes the lights turn on when i open the door and sometimes they don't turn on unless i push hard on that switch. Can it be repaired or i need to change the entire unit?
@@screwsnutsandbolts I forgot to mention that in order to keep all the bulbs turned on by putting that switch in the On position, i have to press the switch really hard with my finger and keep it there. Otherwise the bulbs turn off even though the switch is still pushed to the right
@@Gabriel-ue3jf Hi Gabriel, I had a similar problem in my mk v, vw have used cheap bits in the contacts that you can easily adjust. Use this video as a guide. At 3:24 you can see the contacts adjacent to his left thumb. have a play with the switch and you can see how it works and adjust accordingly. hope that helps
Don’t use a god damn screwdriver to remove the mask! I hate this, you showing people wrong You could easily remove all bulbs without deinstall the whole unit… Clean the lense since it’s in your hand anyway, it got almost black from dirt…

I think it's 38mm
Nice video. 👍 Is it possible to change these bulbs to LED bulbs without any problem? I've been thinking about doing that on my Golf MK5 from 2004.
Yes you should be able to switch to LED bulbs 👍
Hi can you show how to replace or repair the dome light rocker switch - thanks.
I don't have the Golf anymore, sorry

That sounds more like a faulty door switch
