Appears to be much easier to replace these lights than I originally thought. Thanks for posting a great DIY video!

i can confirm after using his method to change the front reading lights it is not the easiest way, if you dismantle is slightly more where the vented areas are you will see a pair of torqx screws, undo these then pull the unit out and unplug it and then remove the bulb holders by turning them 90 degrees either clockwise or anti clockwise i cant remember. because i done it his way and not the way i have just explained, i broke on of the bulb holders trying to push the bulb in.

How do you know which ones to use for each different space?

  • @uspmotorsports

Yes they are! All of our lighting kits are error free, and do not throw any codes!

What you see on our website is what comes in the kit. The lights in the video have been replaced by the new, more reliable LED

I'm confused. On the website you have a picture of the 5-LED (4 surround, 1 down) for the dome lights but in this video you are installing a 194 with only 1 downward facing LED. So which one is it that you sell with the kit?

I hate to leave a bad review but I bought the standard LED Kit in Red and within 4 hours of somewhat constant use one of the bulbs broke in half inside the fixture. Idk if it melted but I would expect a much more sturdier quality if I'm paying 25$ for 5 little bulbs.

best way to take the front ones off is if you unscrew the whole light off not the way you did it someone is gonna end up breaking that plastic.

Hey guys I did all of the lights like you showed and it worked fine on my 2008 gti. Once I tried the trunk causes I had left over bulbs since I didn't do the door lights all of my lights stopped working. Is it because I blew the fuse or shorted a circuit out?

Where do you get one of those pry tools?

  • @boostednick

Just tried installing this kit, the 5 bulbs for the front and rear dome lights don't all fit. They work in the rear dome lights but are too thick to go into the front map light sockets. They're also not the same ones as in this video. All other bulbs do work though and are bright. They just need to go back to the original bulbs in this video for atleast the front map lights and the kit will be solid.

Can they be any interior lights or do they have to be Golf compatible like f.e. the side lights?

I found it easier, on my GTI MKV, to use the tool, remove the trim just forward of the eyeglass container, just aft of the moonroof dial. Two torx screws removes the light assembly. Disconnect the light cable by pressing in small tab, carefully pull the connector for the sunroof cable. After that just half turn each light holder, pull lights out, install L.E.Ds. Before reinstalling fixture, plug in light connector and test. Sounds complicated, but only took me under 5 minutes. Ask Dap has a dome removal and install vid. ruclips.net/video/Kn5m96vPHgU/видео.html

    • @Batner112

no the footwell doesn't need an specific Canbus typed LED the bcm doesn't check it, so its not necessary!
