@@lytriciamitchell6763the chemicals in the card board and ink do make me wonder. But love HH, so don’t think I’m judging by any means please. I often find myself a little jealous tbh😂
Ohhhh I am so delighted to have found you both, and cats, chickens, and goats. Lol. I am a 70 Year old disabled, great grandma to 11. I want to grow things in God's soil that was blessed and given as a gift to all of us. Thank You and Blessings to you and your family. ❤❤❤❤
I am a new gardner for two years now. I want to tell you and Mister H. that I LOVE you two! I enjoy your love displayed for one another as you work together in the garden. Thank you for blessing us with your wisdom, experience, share your garden bounty , and knowledge.
After seeing your initial video on the boxes I said I can do this! Planted mine in flower pots, tires, and boxes. Then started mators in boxes. Live in apartment with a yard about 12 by 16. All things are doing okay. So glad for the harvest, blessings of food. My grandfather had a garden and we all worked in it. He was a WW1 veteran and had some fingers missing from his left hand. I asked him one day how he lost his fingers, he said digging tators. Put my hand in that dirt and druw back some nub finger. That always scared me about digging tators. Found out later he lost his fingers in France during the war. Thank you for teaching us.
After watching your planting video, I planted some in a cardboard ox myself to try that out. Seems to be growing well. I wish more RUclipsrs would spread ideas like this. Great job! Thank you so much.
It's really cool to see people growing their own food. It would be great if more people acquired this habit. In addition to improving our health by consuming healthier foods, we contribute to preserving our planet by reducing the use of pesticides. Congratulations on sharing your knowledge and experience with us.
Who would have known you could plant potatoes in boxes! Ya’ll are so cute! My husband and I are 76 and digging potatoes planted in the ground is tough! Thank you for sharing with us, we will be doing this next time, we just dug ours recently. Appreciate your videos! Hugs from south Alabama!
Thanks so much for sharing your harvesting these potatoes! What a great demonstration of saving food bought at the store to multiply your grocery dollars! Grow your groceries, y'all 😁 We did the same thing in big containers rather than boxes, but still pleased we didn't have to "throw out" sprouted 'taters. I never would have thought (before we grew some of our own) how much of a delight it is to dig potatoes and y'all showed how enjoyable it is! Thank you!
I have found growing potatoes in containers as you have done, that consistent and regular watering, so the soil doesn't dry out ensures a bigger harvest. For the amount of potting mix and the size of the boxes, I think your yield could have been 9lb per box min. Once you know your soil is high in the nutrients needed, then remember during the active growing period consistent watering is key. Good luck.
This was very exciting. We planted 9 store bought russet potatoes. Ended up with 14 plants. Can’t wait till harvest to see if we got anything. Love y’all’s excitement. “Wait for me, Mr H!” 😂😂😂
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks that watching a "potato treasure hunt" is FUN!! 😂 Mrs. H, you're going to have to come up with a recipe for "Cardboard Box Potatoes". 🤣❤👍🙏
Red potatoes are called Russets. They are usually used for potato salad. The yellow potatoes are called Yukon Gold. The brown skinned potatoes are known as Burbanks. They are the go to for a baking potato. All or a combination of the kinds make a great mashing potato. I enjoyed the harvest video. Best wishes and looking forward to more fun videos.
I lived for years without water, back when I was young, and I keep a few 5 gallon water jugs close to the toilet for emergency flushing, and for a drinking water dispenser. Carrying your water gives you a respect for keeping some on reserve. You two grow such beautiful gardens.
Yes it does. We did that when I was a kid. Bucket after bucket from a well. Hard work to haul water in a house where five people lived. Caught rain water in big containers. I appreciate having running water. Most people take it for granted. Not me. To this day I don’t waste water.
Imagine if we planted all our leftovers, & composted the rest. We'd have tons of free food & soil, which has been God's plan for our survival all along. Plant, harvest, eat, then plant again, & so on... God gave our bodies all that we could ever need to survive, & all we have to do is either find it or grow it♡
It’s like opening a present at Christmas to see what your going to get! You got a great harvest. You look so darn cute in that hat. Your the youngest looking Grandmother I know.
My 9 yo planted our potatoes this year. He did such a great job! Our potatoes were huge! The biggest we have ever seen. We always enjoy the potato harvest..its like digging for treasure!!🎉🎉
I have been waiting for this video! I am going to go back and rewatch the planting of them and do this myself. I don’t have anything but a patio, but I can grow anything I want! They let me put out a green stack this year!
I think those potatoes look fantastic!! I ALSO think Mr H might have been a little "heavy handed" with your spuds...KNOWING that damaged skins meant he could have mashed potatoes for his efforts in harvesting!! 😉🤭 He's a slick one!! 😂😂 (And a keeper, even if his motives HAVE been exposed now.) 😎 Great harvest you guys. Fun video as always. God bless you & yours!!🙏🙏
Omg I am so happy to see your results!! I’m on Zone 6A. I’m a little behind in getting my garden space together but this weekend is for potatoes. You all have encouraged me so much!! Be blessed and continue to be a blessing!!
Y'all are the cutest couple. I harvested my 🥔s too today and got about the same amount. I didn't do boxes, but put straight in ground with the same amount of seed potatoes as you. I live in middle TN (Culleoka) and I've learned sooo much from you! So thankful and blessed to have found your channel. God bless and keep you both❤
Congratulations. Y’all did great. It makes my heart happy to see a couple working together. I never had a partner to help me. I did it myself. Use to have a beautiful garden but I’m to old now. I just have tomatoes and peppers. Grew a few potatoes in buckets.
Mr and mrs.H I have a big smile on my face watching your excitement in reaping your potatoes. There is nothing better than having a good harvest after the hard work you put into the farm.
There’s not much better than harvesting potatoes. How is it so much fun? Idk but I planted so many more potatoes this year than last because it’s so satisfying and fun to do! 🥰Great video!
It's been awhile since I spent time with yawl. You have brought joy to my heart! You all were my first introduction to gardening and homesteading. I have missed you. I feel bad that I haven't been paying attention. I got carried away with watching videos. Only the animals bring me the kind of joy that I get from watching you. Forgive me. 😢❤❤❤
This is so awesome. I watched the video where you started planting them. And now to see the results and you having so much fun harvesting, I'm so happy. They are beautiful potatoes. Thank you. I roughly counted around 50 (big and small) potatoes out of 9 you planted. That's over 300% potato profit. Lol. Much love to y'all. 💖💖💖
or, boil those babies and make mashed potatoes with the skins and add some garlic. Some restaurant used to do it with the reds, skins and all. Lovedbit.😊😊
I grew left over red potatoes from the grocery store last year in 25 gallon grow bags and they did amazingly well. Planted more this year the same way. One bag is starting to show signs of dying back but the other one is still thriving and beautiful
That’s great! After watching you plant these, I got a box and planted some from the grocery store. My plants are beautiful and about 3 feet tall. I hope mine turn out as well as yours! I am planting more next year!
I have grown potatoes in different containers, old cooking pots, medium food grade buckets & feed sacks. This year I found a big cardboard box 3 ft wide by 5 ft long. It has sections like triangles. So each of these has a potato plant in it! They are growing very well.
Hi Mr. and Mrs. H, Thank you so very much for your informative videos. I have been following you and planted potatoes in boxes. My potatoes are not ready to harvest yet but now I know what to look for and how to harvest potatoes in boxes. I am an older lady so this is a nice easy way to grow my groceries. I love all of you practical tips, easy to follow and just plain language so that it's all easy to understand! Bless both you both!
That's a great harvest! I think you are right, you should be able to plant more. That's encouraging to me. That's how I planted mine. It's a raised bed.
I wanted to thank y’all for the blessing your channel is. I don’t comment often but I greatly appreciate your content, positive attitudes and fantastic personality of you both. May God bless your family mightily. Thank you again. I was so invested in finding that last potato 😂❤
Thats such great harvest of your red potatoes! Iam also trying out some in my grow bags this year. Thanks for all your help on when and how to harvest them. Growing and learning together! 🥔😃
Great job, Mr. and Mrs. H!! What an awesome way to "multiply" your grocery dollars! I just love watching y'all. Just too cute and you work so well together. Good luck fixing your water pipe, Mr. H. Wishing many blessings to both of you! 💞💞
So glad I watched your planting in cardboard boxes video and I'm still waiting on my harvest. I'm also growing sweet potatoes in boxes we'll see how it goes. You guys did great! And thanks for the tip on the curing I had kept paper bags and now I know what I'll be doing with them! :) Bless you.
I really enjoyed watching this harvest. I love how you are just real in every video. Perfection feels staged to me. I hope our harvest in a couple of months will be just as good ❤
One potato, two potatoes, three potatoes four, plant em in a box and grow some more! Fun video.
I had to laugh...Mr. H is like ' the water can wait, I want to play in the dirt'!😄 You can see his excitement, and yours too, Mrs. H! Nice harvest!
😁
Man I wish I was y’all’s neighbors! Y’all seem like awesome people
I'm sold on this idea

I’m on my second year too ❤️ 🎉🎉
My Grandma would take those itty bitty potatoes, make a white sauce and add sweet peas. It was so good. One of my favorite memories from 60 years ago.
@Kathycrawford8777, my words exactly!!! Something I loved, plus fresh strawberries with cream saved from milking. Memories

🤣🤣😅 ty for sharing the story, my heart needed that!❣️
That was a funny story. Gotta love Grandpas with humor around the grandkids. 😂
Those little "nubs" are perfect for "new potatoes and peas!" Yum!
Mrs. H makes digging for potatoes so exciting! I love the way her and Mr. H work very well together as a team. Thank you for sharing.
After watching your planting video, I planted some in a cardboard ox myself to try that out. Seems to be growing well. I wish more RUclipsrs would spread ideas like this. Great job! Thank you so much.
I absolutely LOVE your squeal when you pulled up the first potato plant!!!
Me too!

Great harvest!😊
@therealz 360z Pests can always be a concern, so you just have to do what works for you.
@therealz 360z they are never less than 89 cents a pound here.
@therealz360z7 you can put screening material under the boxes or containers to keep out any rodents.
