After seeing your initial video on the boxes I said I can do this! Planted mine in flower pots, tires, and boxes. Then started mators in boxes. Live in apartment with a yard about 12 by 16. All things are doing okay. So glad for the harvest, blessings of food. My grandfather had a garden and we all worked in it. He was a WW1 veteran and had some fingers missing from his left hand. I asked him one day how he lost his fingers, he said digging tators. Put my hand in that dirt and druw back some nub finger. That always scared me about digging tators. Found out later he lost his fingers in France during the war. Thank you for teaching us.

I have found growing potatoes in containers as you have done, that consistent and regular watering, so the soil doesn't dry out ensures a bigger harvest. For the amount of potting mix and the size of the boxes, I think your yield could have been 9lb per box min. Once you know your soil is high in the nutrients needed, then remember during the active growing period consistent watering is key. Good luck.

Red potatoes are called Russets. They are usually used for potato salad. The yellow potatoes are called Yukon Gold. The brown skinned potatoes are known as Burbanks. They are the go to for a baking potato. All or a combination of the kinds make a great mashing potato. I enjoyed the harvest video. Best wishes and looking forward to more fun videos.

That's a great harvest! I think you are right, you should be able to plant more. That's encouraging to me. That's how I planted mine. It's a raised bed.

Hi, if you wrap the sides with burlap and encase the entire box with chicken wire, it will last a really long time. The chicken wire goes over the burlap. Adding permeable landscape fabric to the inside is also helpful. Love your gardening gloves!

Yeah Potatoes! Glad to see the potato harvest. There's nothing like home grown potatoes. Nice harvest. As a child I enjoyed helping to dig the potatoes and I still do. The boxes did good.

Wonderful harvest of potatoes!! This is my first year planting potatoes. I planted Yellow Potatoes in 2 cardboard boxes. I have videos up. I harvested recently before the rain as well because the plants had died back. I was very happy with my outcome. I have now started Russet potatoes, and I have sweet potato slips almost ready. I wish I had known it was so easy to grow potatoes. I will definitely follow here for more great information.

I think you did fantastic with just nine potatoes from the grocery store. Let's see it again Mrs. H. I would love to see how long your boxes will last. I have 10 pounds of red potatoes in six shipping boxes, and I was so surprised how well these boxes are holding together.

Playing in the gardens the Eternals wish for us all. We plant one and the Creator the great giver gives us such a blessing of food and tons of seeds.

I used your cardboard box method for my potatoes this year. I hope my harvest is as good as yours! Great idea!!
