I love how you travel and share these amazing shows with us so we get to also experience how different shows around the world are growing our community. Those reptiles are all so beautiful I truly want to go to a European show.
I'm from Germany and here you need a certificate from the veterinary office for protected or dangerous species (such as poisonous snakes). On the one hand you have to prove the origin of the animal, on the other hand that you are keeping it correctly or that you have the necessary knowledge to keep this animal. I can understand that this is annoying for some reptile owners, but I am honestly very happy that we have this type of control. I used to work in a rescue center for reptiles and exotic animals and very often we would get animals that had been bought without thinking and without being informed about how to keep them and then they would be abandoned or dumped. This has happened much less frequently with animals that require a certificate and if you have prepared yourself for the animal and can prove that it has been kept correctly etc., then it is actually no problem to obtain such a certificate. It may be a nuisance for people, but it protects the animals.
I live in the Netherlands and I am pretty sure there’s no difference in permits for boa’s or ball pythons. You need to be able to show that they were born in captivity, and that you acquired them in a legal way. Same thing for most snakes. A lot of snakes aren’t on the list tho, I have a boiga cyanea for example and that species isn’t on any of the lists of snakes that you need permits for. The system is kind of weird not gonna lie. For most snakes you buy you get the right papers from the buyer, but you probably won’t get in trouble if you don’t have the right papers, there’s no one coming to your house and check your permits and stuff. Would have loved to go to the expo but sadly couldn’t this year, see you next year maybe? :)
Exactly! You know your history. The bridge is still there by the way. And it's kind of interesting to look at the skyline and recognize some of the buildings from all the war footage. My degree is in history actually and my area of study was the war. Surprising that I've never started a history channel yet. Maybe I should get on that?
Eventhough I knew you'd be there it was strange to "unexpectedly" hear a familiar voice. It was nice to see you irl and to meet. There really were a lot of balls in this show. Maybe next time you're closeby, you might like to visit Expo Houten. It's held more frequently and has more snake variety. (sometimes even with a "hot" section) That black boa was a real stunner and i've seen the crested gecko's but wasn't aware they were bread in the same small village i'm from.. Learned it here at your video ! I really liked the temperature (not too hot) and the light/bright venue, Nijmegen is a very nice show! Greetings from the Netherlands
Hi Dav That Reptile Expo was fantastic in the Netherlands. So many different , and beautiful reptiles that you won't see in the United States. So nice that you saw Billy a reptile breeder from canada. That man made you that awesome laser plaque. Love your channel, and all of your adventures. Cindy
Love that black potion img boa constrictor. I don't know if the one boa is the worlds first that may be far fetched because Dave Polumbo produces lot of boa morphs and locality stuff but I wouldn't argue that may be the worlds first in Europe.
Good afternoon dāv, those reptiles are absolutely stunning. Such a dream to go to reptile expo all around the world to see what other morphs are out there and holy moly jack pot.have an amazing day
My favorite Expo in Europe next to Hamm is the Houten Expo in Netherlands but everything turns to be to much crowded over the past years. Flooded with Ball Pythons Bearded Dragon, Panther Chams is difficult to find the coil stuff.
Hope that VIP proves out. That will be amazing to have in a collection. That boa though!!! I'm a boa breeder and definitely think I should look at producing something along those lines.
You hould come to HOUTEN 1st of december biggerst in holland called reptilica orrrr to hamm witch is the biggest in europe but that ones next year again, there is even better stuff put here in the netherlands❤
Welcome to Europe again Dav, our shows are not on a par with elsewhere (and are particularly poor in the UK). Still, glad you got something out of it- hope to see you in the UK sometime soon, there are some incredible breeders visit!
That's not a pied. It may have piebald in it like het But what it looks like is a paradox and those are not genetic as their hasn't been many visual pieds out of Africa theirs only been a recorded handful
Here in Belgium, it's not a problem to get boas as long as you don't have too many. The only one you need a permit for is the Argentine boa. In France you can get up to 3 (if I remember correctly) . Beyond you need a "capacity certificate" and you can't normally keep boa species that you can find in French Guiana that are protected such as rainbow or green tree boas. You need the certificate as well for the dumeril's boa.
Incredible monitors That armadillo is killer! Too bad he doesn't sell those placards world wide Incredible Dragons Thank you for sharing Dav! #RattleOn
The VIP looks very similar to the old Rainbow morph that EB Noah had. I wonder what happened to that animal. Best of luck to Wilhelm. That's an amazing animal
after a lot of googling different interpretations of the word... the snake at 4:28, thats a carpet python/green tree python hybrid, is that correct? Its so pretty....
About the permit thing: i can only speak for germany but there are several "ranks" of permits. Im germany u need papers for example, ball pythons, that they are 100% captive bred. These can be given out by the breeder easily, the parents usually have 'numbers' do be able to be tracked down for the animal welfare system. For stuff like some native species, False water cobras, any tortoise ans chameloeon plus more, you need that paper AND have to sent a copy of your papers to your states animal protection goverment. You also have to send them an e-mail if u start breeding said animal or if it has died. Its mainly to protect said animal to be taken from the wild, or be from not so well conditions. Its mostly based upon the CITIES papers. So even for taxidermy u need said permit to prove its CB. Its sounds really hard and difficult but is actually quite okayish and does scare ppl off that would keep the animals in horrendous conditions usually. Also to add to- some "states" in germany hve much stricter rules, such as not being allowed to keep anything venomous. While others u just need the permit or do a test for that!
That's kind of sad that the reptile expo's have gone that way even out there in Europe. I just went yesterday to the Tampa Repticon and it was like 80% ball pythons and New Caledonian geckos. Almost no variety and kind of boring.
My bearded dragon won't leave my chest. But want to grab a meal. I'm only 115 but 5 won't bust me and going to stay and cuddle he's one of my best boys. Should of planned better I got 3 males 1 female so have have 4 cages 60 gall and 80
I just got back from Europe. I need to edit, prep for my next trip next week, take care of my animals and try to get at least 8 hours of sleep over the next week but I would have liked to have been there :)
Hello, It’s been my passion to own a reptile zoo/shop. To educate people on how to care for their reptile. Show people that there is no need to be afraid of snake, lizard or any other reptile. if I'm right, i hàte to bust your bubble but that first snake you showed which was that ball python it seems to me that it's a paradox
