This episode tried for action but fell short of getting us involved I think. Then the use of nonsense measurements like -20 degree below Kelvin and 50 meters which is half the length of a football field, just makes it silly. The icing on the cake is Spock telling Kirk that they had just worked out last week in zero gravity combat training. Kirk really doesn't remember doing cartwheels in the air all the while avoiding a nerve pinch from Spock who was standing on the ceiling? The aliens were inventive though. I especially like the A'lar and I like the Skor
I think they did mean 20 Kelvin here, but the interesting thing about the temperature is that I was watching a reaction to "The Royale" (TNG) earlier this week, and that script has the line :"Surface temperature minus two hundred and ninety one degrees Celsius". What's with these sub-absolute zero planets? 🤣
This was total sci-fi. Kirk rejects a woman's sexual advances?!!?😂 Once again... Saturday Morning cartoon. Did Lara really expect Kirk to take a break from the mission for a 'quicky'?
Stephen Kandel must have had too much sugary cereal before outlining this episode. Either that, or he decided to sub some of the work out to a toddler.
It feels maybe like a 50 minute episode with every other minute taken out. We could salvage a cool episode out of it if we could smooth over the manic energy of the transitions from peril to peril. I dunno. 😄
Well that does it for season 1. As you watch the 6 season 2 episodes be aware that D.C. Fontana didn't return to produce or story edit although the credits say otherwise.

I just can't; I can't comment. It's insulting to children assuming that the viewers don't care about the content other than crushing in silly action scenes. It's a box of every bad and overused trope that could have been better written by schoolchildren. The last line was epically bad and generic: "We have a lot of other places to go!"
