There's something about Danielle's performance which is why I always preferred her perfomance over the other versions of Red. What an amazing singer! 💝
One of the best parts of James Lapine's book about the making of 'Sunday' is talking with Danielle about her first audition for him - he said he instantly liked her because she wasn't trying to be cute like the other girls, and that she was just there "to have an adventure." And Danielle herself says she just didn't know enough about the theater to be nervous.
She is amazing, this actress/singer. She keeps making me laugh and cry. This version is orders of magnitude better than the movie... Isn't it nice to know a lot And a little bit not. WOW!
Mother said, "Straight ahead" Not to delay or be mislead I should have headed her advice But he seemed so nice And he showed me things Many beautiful things That I hadn't thought to explore They were off my path So I never had dared I had been so careful I never had cared And he made me feel excited Well, excited and scared When he said, "Come in!" With that sickening grin How could I know what was in store? Once his teeth were bared Though, I really got scared Well, excited and scared But he drew me close And he swallowed me down Down a dark slimy path Where lie secrets that I never want to know And when everything familiar Seemed to disappear forever At the end of the path Was Granny once again So we lay in the dark 'Til you came and set us free And you brought us to the light And we're back at the start And I know things now Many valuable things That I hadn't known before Do not put your faith In a cape and a hood They will not protect you The way that they should And take extra care with strangers Even flowers have their dangers And though scary is exciting Nice is different than good Now I know: Don't be scared Granny is right, Just be prepared Isn't it nice to know a lot! And a little bit not
The one who played jack in this one is Ben Wright, while the teacher from Mr. Young is Brendan Meyer. And this was recorded in 1989 and first aired in 1991, and Mr. Young first episode aired in 2011 (20 years after this recording first aired).
A good actor/actress, even one who is doing musical doesn't need to be in key all of the time lol. It's not pop, they're not there to be 100% beautiful to your ear. That's not what makes a good singer good.
Wow the Broadway version was much faster then the movie version
İ hope i can do this song well for auditon ❤️❤️❤️
and better... The modern film version managed to turn this fun upbeat dark-comedy into a slow dreary drama.
D Y yeah i felt that
'Ya think? The movie version was a horrible distortion of the the musical play - the story line and the music!
@@Beherenoww it was still pretty funny

I hope she's experienced even a bit of the joy that she's brought to so many over so many years!

WOW!
Mother said, "Straight ahead"
Not to delay or be mislead
I should have headed her advice
But he seemed so nice
And he showed me things
Many beautiful things
That I hadn't thought to explore
They were off my path
So I never had dared
I had been so careful

With that sickening grin
How could I know what was in store?
Once his teeth were bared
Though, I really got scared
Well, excited and scared
But he drew me close
And he swallowed me down
Down a dark slimy path
Where lie secrets that I never want to know
And when everything familiar
Seemed to disappear forever
At the end of the path
Was Granny once again
So we lay in the dark
'Til you came and set us free
And you brought us to the light
And we're back at the start
And I know things now
Many valuable things
That I hadn't known before
Do not put your faith
In a cape and a hood
They will not protect you
The way that they should
And take extra care with strangers
Even flowers have their dangers
And though scary is exciting
Nice is different than good
Now I know: Don't be scared
Granny is right, Just be prepared
Isn't it nice to know a lot!
And a little bit not

Who dis?
Danielle Ferland, the original little red
Andrea Cortez thank you! 🙏🏽🙌🏽✨
I know this is the original but it just me or she off key badly in places? Or is it on purpose? And she sings with a weird nasally tone.
She’s supposed to sound like.... a child. It’s on purpose.
@@mandysidelinger9092 I understand the tone but she's supposed to be singing out of tune as well?
@@Ihdc1 yep, she’s supposed to annoy everyone else in the cast. Being occasionally off key helps convey that.
Sondheim is weird like that
