I'm pretty sure she made that face because of how Armin said "we unfortunately don't have a choice other than to help Eren and Zeke", because that gave away his earlier words towards her as a lie.
However she still wants them to help so she lets it go for now.

I wanna point out. The moment when Jean asks “Zeke, what is he doing here?” is Jean also asking if Levi died because Zeke would not be alive let alone here if Levi was alive cause Levi would have fought tooth and nail to prevent Eren and Zeke meeting.

Anyone confused with Yelena's reaction. Remember that Armin acted like he thinks the Euthanasia plan is a noble one. Now he is telling his friends they have no other choice but to help Zeke and Eren. Armin basically slipped up here. Yelena get momentarily angry, like "you little shii you lied to me". Then she calms down because Armin is doing what she wants anyway.

The moment Gabi realized that they are all just humans was so cool because they showed the open birdcages which is a metaphor for her now being a free bird like she isn't trapped in the marley thinking anymore. Moreover the birdcage thing was already built up in season 1 they even had an ost Vogel im Käfig (bird in a cage) it is just f genius.

I think what Eren said about the Ackermans is partly true; it's called the Ackerman instinct. It laid dormant within Mikasa throughout her early days but that night when she was rescued by Eren from her abductors, Eren's pleas for Mikasa to fight for her life awakened those Ackerman instincts within her. It was not just Eren that said something about it. Levi also told Mikasa that he's experienced it before and as did his uncle Kenny. Similarly, he inquired about headaches and asked her if she had experienced that sudden clarity of mind and a strike of just knowing exactly what to do in a situation. That's kind of how Levi and Mikasa confirmed to each other that they were Ackermans in season 3

This is why I love Eren more than Reiner. Reiner is all like “just give up and die 😢” but Eren straight up refuses to die here and fights bear tooth and nail in the face of death.
Regardless of how you view Eren, I think it’s honestly disgusting that people like this reactor unironically wanted Eren to bite the dust in this Shiganshina fight. Idk, it just feels like a huge disservice to his character arc.

Interesting look at the beach scene. I took it differently. I didn't see it as that being when Eren changed, because I found it consistant with how Eren has always been.
Kill the Kidnappers. Kill the Titans. Kill the people over there.
Eren kills his enemies. Its like Armin says to Gabi "Its always kill kill kill with you... just like someone else I know". Eren has always been kill first and worry about it later (only, not really worry about it at all).

It's important to remeber that the paradiseans who are like Floch are not exclusive to Paradise. People like that exist in all the nations that Marley have invaded and oppressed, and that the volonteers are made up of such people (and also the eldian restorationists for that matter).
We can see a number of examples of this IRL, both historically and in the present.
Marley's way of doing things created a boatload of hatred towards them from all over (eldians being extremely hated outside of Marley is a side effect of this), remenber that as soon as other nations saw Marley weakening they jumped at the opportunity to attack them.
Compared to the 4 year war that followed, Eren's demolishing of Tybur's show was rather lightweight on collateral damage. Especially when you consider the fact that Marley uses slaves and child soldiers to fight it's wars for them, including self-deletion troops.

Unironically, I believe test-run of rumbling is the best move here
It’s the most unstable, prone to fail
But it’s the only choice that doesn’t involve Genocide
Zeke and the whole world want Eldian dead, and Eren (from Armin reasoning) supposedly want the whole world dead
Do a nuclear stand-off, buying time for negotiation for another 2,000 years might solved the problem

Gabi's character growth is but a fraction of Reiner's though, we didn't see that part fleshed out in Reiner's backstory, but it's inferred, and it's imbedded in his personality. It's the reason he wants to die so badly. Gabi was lucky she woke up to the truth before she got to the point of no return like Reiner. She killed a few people, but didn't massacre a people and didn't betray her friends and comrades. She can live with the guilt of killing Sasha, Sasha killed her friends after all, but the people Reiner got killed did nothing to him.
Anyway, I think Reiner's moment of "there are no devils here, just people" was when he revealed his identity in Episode 6 Season 2 and said something like "if only I didn't know there were just normal people here, I wouldn't have become such a half-assed piece of shit".. It's a shame that you don't know what he means back then, because it was just as good as Gabi's moment, or even better.
Long story short, Reiner is the best-written character for me lol

43:02 Mikasa was hurt at the time. To me at least, her confession of love to Eren there was because she couldn't protect him and she thought they were doomed at that point. Remember also when Eren first activated the coordinate, he was carrying Mikasa piggyback to escape the Titans. That was really a mirror to what Falco and Gabi are going through here. They're in a tight pinch so might as well confess...
44:45 Mikasa's "true" self was explored a little further in Lost Girls.

I think people will often disagree with that phrasing because he’s not the kind of “evil person” that typically comes to mind when you hear the word. When you call someone outright evil, for most people, it implies a degree of malevolence, sadism or cold-heartedness. Eren often contradicts these stereotypically “evil” traits and is intimately understood by the audience, so chalking him up to being “evil” will always sound reductive and semantical no matter how accurate it may be to his actions.

Also Reiner got all of his friends killed/captured and would have gotten falco killed

Comparing him to the painter isnt the same thing as saying the others are not evil. Thats just the strawman argument, typical for Eren-Fans/defenders. It dosen't have to do with other characters. Also the comparison is far more complex than just "Eren=Evil":
      1. He takes the role of the "Führer" and has his "Jaegerists" that follow him because he generated this cult around him (that one should be pretty obvious)
      2. He clearly devides his comrades and enemies into those who should be killed and those who should kill solely based on where they are from.
      3. He silences even his own people through fear and violence if they don't share his views/opinions (typical painter people stuff).
      4. And most obvoius: if you've seen the ending of AoT i am sure you will find another strong parallel. (Hint: its mentioned in the intro of this season)

What Eru said. I am referring more to the circumstances and general actions: Eren wants to cleanse the world because of his hate of people other than his (like H). He sees his race as superior to the others because he values their cultural values more (like H). He is fine with his followers shooting people and putting armbands on people to mark them (like H). He replaces the government with his own people (Floch and Historia), again like H. Those are the broad strokes why I made that comparison. There are other evil characters, but their evil is different. I am not calling him that because he ends people, that is by no means why :D

    • @leonardlaabs3177

@@storieswithstyle I just have to jump in here and mention 4x05, where we clearly learn that Eren is of the opinion that "Inside the walls... On the other side of the sea... We're all the same..." So, how does Eren hate people other than Eldian's? He hates people that try to take away his freedom, it doesn't matter to him what race or ethnicity they are. And how does he value the Eldian culture over others? Where do you get that from? Because, like I said already, we hear straight from him that he thinks all people are the same in the end.
I also don't think Eren personally "wants" to lead the Jaegerists, usurp the Eldian government by bombing Zackly or make people wear armbands. All those things came from the people following Eren who believe he is the only solution. I will agree with you on the point that he "doesn't care" that these people following him do all these horrible things. however ***SPOILERS FOR END OF SHOW***
We do learn at the end, that Eren knew of Mikasa's choice that will remove the TItan powers from the world. And we learn that his true wish is to "see the sight" of this vacant and desolate wasteland he created by flattening it all. He even reflects on how he knows this wish of his is, essentially, "evil", at least toward the people he killed to achieve that view. ("I'm sure they didn't want to die either, but... [I did it anyways.]") However, as Armin mentions multiple times, a "good" person is only someone who is "good" towards you. The same can be said about "evil". On this note, there is definitely "evil" inside Eren, but on the same coin, just on the other side, there is also "good". After all, his actions are "good" towards the people of Eldia, Armin, Mikasa, Jean, Connie, etc. and even to the people in the future since his actions caused Titan powers to vanish. So is he more "evil" for killing a couple billion people, or is he more "good" for bringing peace from Titans to literally every future human?
A fun thought experiment I like to do is trying to imagine what Eren would have done if he didn't know his actions would be the cause for Mikasa's choice that will make Titan powers vanish from the world. Would everything have played out the same? Or would Eren have done stuff differently, not knowing one of his biggest ambitions and dreams is guaranteed to come true?
My point is, I do think Eren has evil in him, not comparable to painter imo tho, since everything that can be compared to painter isn't really what he wants or initiates, he just doesn't care that it happens as long as it doesn't get in the way of his dream of freedom, which he knows he has to fulfill because 1) he wants it (="evil"?) and 2) he knows it will bring an end to Titans (="good"?). I think it would just be better to discuss Eren's character without the words "good" or "evil". I mean, what is "good" and "evil" anyway? By definition they are extremely abstract concepts and very subjective. For example, is cannibalism evil? Maybe it is, but is it evil to try to survive and save your life by eating another person if that is the only possibility left and otherwise you'd starve to death? If cannibalism is evil, is nature intrinsically evil too? Because there is a looooot of cannibalism in nature. And if you decide to not engage in cannibalism because it's evil, so you just starve to death and give up on life... then what would you call that? Because starving yourself to death and giving up on life surely wouldn't be called "good", would it?
I just think stuff is more complex than just "good" or "evil" and it's always a perspective thing.
