Haha epic. Thanks for rescuing my kerbals! And I named myself captiankiwi because captainkiwi was already taken :(
Nice mission! I think you are going to become just like Matt, and laugh at your silly mistakes in the past. Good luck
How stop it happening again: JEB GET OUT OF THE ROCKET
Dumb a** kerbals 😂😂
Don’t do it again we not want to risk the live of kerbals
Once i had the same problem on my first EVA
Nice to see another blunderbirds intro. That intro will never get old!
Yes!
Isn't it supposed to look old?
The intro will never get new!
Nope it won’t and I like your pfp

FINALLY THE BLUNDERBIRDS ARE BACK AT IT AGAIN!!!! I LOVE THIS MATT KEEP UP THE AWESOME WORK
No you
"military truck shape"
that's a HEMTT. finally, all these hours of playing arma paid off
Nothing quite as exciting as watching a full fuel tanker HEMTT drift in the snow. I'll never forget that.
arma 3 gang
Sadly its looks more like a MAZ 537 than a hemtt
@@danatm2199 might be, but i doubt that matt has ever seen a MAZ and not a HEMTT
edit: also the inverted slope under the cabin isn't really present on a maz and it is on a hemtt
@@freyawion5337 hemtts have a much longer wheelbase that fir the fuel tanks in between the maz also does have a inverted slope however it is quite miniscule
I made my first trip to land on Gilly last night. On my way back to Kerbin, I somehow badly messed up a maneuver and fell into Eve's atmosphere. Jebediah had to ditch the lander cause the parachute broke off and use his personal chute to reach the surface. Now he's just chilling on the coast, waiting on Valentina to come save him.
EDIT: Valentina almost got stranded herself but I managed to correct it in time. She and Jeb landed safely in the ocean just outside KSC. Good thing I put some science modules on Valentina's lander so I didn't lose all my science.
“On a lonely planet slowly spinning its way to damnation, amid the incompetence and unpreparedness of lesser space programs, one team stands resilient against the herds-putting their lives on the line to aid those who were previously unaware of the quick save option. Yes it’s the incredible adventures of Jebediah and his crack team of Kerbanauts. They are-The Blunderbirds.”
I could never understand the intro, and now I know how passive aggressive it is
thank you, i could never understand the intro, it's hard to listen for people whom english is not their first language
I had to listen to it about a dozen times to get this right.
@@Perseagatuna You too? I
Are we just gonna ignore the fact that Matt basically built a missle truck?
Russia wants to know your location
It’s a HIMARS space derivative called HIMATT

An Inter-Planetary-Ballistic-Return-Pod. Yes.
It would be funny landing on Minmus just to discover that the ship you're going to rescue was destroyed by the transfer stage you put on crash course XD

Imagine a mod that makes computer-controlled rockets that are disconnected from all KSC connections invisible (as in no Icons show and cannot switch to it).
The moment KSC lose connection to the computer-controlled vessel, you get kicked out to the main KSC screen until you regain connection, icon pops up and able to control it again.

NASA person 2: “What? Did the lander tip over again?”

@@nguyenhuyphuc655 Okay.
That cheeky surprise made me smile. I loved watching the rocket lift up, such a kerbal thing tbh.
Blunderbirds is by far my favourite series of yours, Matt. It gives me hope that I could resolve my own blunders...some day
Oh I do so enjoy revisiting old Blunderbirds episodes. Matt's always so creative with his solutions. Me? Less so.
I stranded a bunch of Kerbals in Laythe orbit with insufficient deltaV to get some, so I loaded the saved copy of the ship, stripped away all the science and crew stuff, added a probe core and sent it off to refuel them. They just sat there, unable to transmit the science home as I hadn't included enough batteries for the transmitter and waited. And waited and waited and waited and waited and waited lol
And that's exactly what happened to me the first time I landed on the Mün, and that's how I learned my lesson... well, it wasn't a solar panel, but the same effect...
still love the 'Blunderbirds' name and intro
Me too, it's kinda like a military propaganda or a astronautics ad, i don't know.
Nice transition from the dark, spooky music to the Blunderbird intro!
Try setting all or most reaction wheels to SAS mode, really helps keeping vehicles stable.
The Blunderbirds vids are definitely my favourite ones that you do. Always happy for more to drop. Fixes rather than rescues are also welcome variety :-) nice.
I think the in situation repairs or reassembly is a great direction to continue the blunder birds series!
For some reason, watching Matt's KSP video-of-the-week seems to be part of my standard Saturday morning breakfast routine.
Whenever I click on one of Matt's videos and see the KSP Reddit, I know it's about to be good.
when i see blunderbirds intro:
me: those old days.
,, That were previousely unaware of the quicksave option'' best intro sentenace ever
ah yes the blunder birds, the age old sires, the one that i love, also i love the intro to the blunder birds, never gets old
this was one of the funniest kerbal vids I've watched. That reveal of the return ship was great.
Matt: Gotta keep that viewer retention up!
Me, watching every video to the end: What kind of monster clicks off a Blunderbirds episode?
It wouldn't be a Matt Lowne video without two things: 1. Grammar Matt watching closely from above ready to correct or comment on sentences 2. "And there we are." I'm not kidding those are my favorite Matt-isms. So genuine, so knowledgeable, so entertaining. I look forward to these every Saturday. Thanks, Matt!
Me: wait, it's all modded?
Matt: *Always has been*
gameplay wise it's all stock, it's just the pretties
Yeah, there are no parts mods in this video. Both DLCs are here though
@@MattLowne oh
I thought you were gonna lithostage the solar panel somehow. But I love seeing the Blunderbirds are back!
Awesome work Matt, it’s very nice to see the blunderbirds back in action again!
I just want to say that I have been sick for 2 weeks and your videos are
Really cheering me up
Matt, this was an awesome idea. I'd like to see more Blunderbirds episodes like this where you repair or refuel the original player's mission. Keep up the awesome content!
Bruh??? I saw that post, I just got reddit a few days ago and I remember liking it
Yes it was a post on Reddit that inspired this video.
Great to see another Blunderbirds! I'd love to see more of them doing in-situ repairs and modifications to get stranded crafts back home!
Great video. Didn't expect the Kerbin Return Vehicle! Would love to see more mobile launch platforms.
I love the blunderbirds intro, please don’t ever change it.
I like to see this kind. That rover was really cool and so was the launch from it. Maybe you should do a mobile launcher for a large scale rocket on Kerbin
hey matt-this is something that can get your gravity turns done quite perfectly and smoothly- turn on SAS, then right after launch, rotate about 5 degrees, wait a few seconds, then switch SAS to prograde, and watch your craft complete the gravity turn automatically. (note that you might have to mess around with the angle you start with)
In the US Marines, that type of vehicle is called an “LVS”, a “Logistics Vehicle System”. We haul tanks and shit with them.
For Blundebirds I imagine a Scenario, where a station with just enough fuel for a capture orbit at Jool runneth dry just before finishing the node so it's rather on a slingshot trajectory to be kicked out of the kerbol system. And you have to catch up with it and rescue the kerbals.
Several difficulties (locations of station, all after executing the burn to jool):
Easy: Just outside earths influence
Hard: Halfway to Jool
Extrem: Inside Jools influence
Impossible: After Jools escape
I thought this might be a cool challenge. What do you think?
Blunderbirds repair squad; Genius, would love to see more
i ended up covering my hatch with a parachute on my first mission to duna. wonderful times.
that's rough buddy
The way the vehicle is set up with the landing rockets reminds of that one scene from the incredibles where they launch an RV using a rocket
I like the idea of in situ repair videos, there could definitely be some interesting scenarios which require cool build solutions.
Another blunderbirds video!!! Yes!!! You should do a blunderbirds where you rescue a whole broken rocket by grabbing it and lifting it back to kerbin!
Can‘t believe you build a truck like that, I just tinkered with one that is inspired by the Alvis Stalwart - looks almost like this one, but six wheels with triangular pieces between the wheels 😲
I'm MASSIVELY HYPED for another Blunderbirds episode...
...Like my STONKS! XD
Please make an underwater base at the furthest point from any land on Kerbin.

Like the idea of repairs for Blunderbirds. Return rocket was awesome too.
tbh when i saw what post he responded to i thought he would just pick up the whole ship with a claw and fly back to kerbin
Since Minmus has a really low surface gravity, I can just imagine a ship entering at such a low orbit with low speed, yoinking the vessel with it's claw as it slowly flies by. ;D
Random redditor: I need help with this single solar panel
Matt: “reconfigures entire re-entry module”
I like the repair idea a lot!! It's very cool to watch.
I get a tingly feeling when I see a notification from matt lowne. Love you man
Matt your vids helped me get ksp for 7pounds thanks a lot mate.
i know this was 2 years ago, but for any new players, its okay to mess up. its how you learn. Also, I've noticed that the longer you play and try to go to farther and farther destinations your skill grows at an exponential rate.
Great, would love to see more Blunderbirds repair/reconfiguration.
"return captain kiwis kerbals to kerbin" thats a tongue twister
In just a few moments, you put medical terminology, political humor, and rocket science all together at once. Bravo Sir.
The solar panel that is blocking then from EVA is kind of funny 😆.cool rocket as well
This was great. I love the variety potential!
the rocket in the back of the truck was really awesome
WOKE UP at 4am- 5am rolls around ooh Matt has a new vid! Fuck it.
That intro is what gives me life
I love this series so much.
Hello Matt, love your vids. I have taken inspiration from most of your rockets, I absolutely love the game and your videos have helped me a WHOLE BUNCH!
1:48 AM Christmas morning and i’m watching this
It would be interesting to build a retrofitting station that has a boatload of repair kits/engineering kerbals and a craft to make adjustments/repairs to crafts offworld, something to do in my save, hehe.
I thought this mission was very creative, good job! would be happy to see more blunderbirds emergency repair missions, maybe you have to reassemble the stranded/broken crafts and fly them back as a new challenge
Oh man the Kerbal-Return supercompact vessel is genious!
Great build. Wish our trucks had boosters like that on them.
Something you could try with that rover is to add the ore containers and a drill to fill it up when needed for extra ballast, the drill is so you dont have to haul it into space.
"freeing them from their minty prison and letting them stretch their little legs" Amazing stuff Matt.
Definitely include in-situ repairs!
i live in Sweden and today for the first time i drank tea .
Finally i am a brihish person
Any BlunderBirds is good BlunderBirds.
Repairs are cool. Maybe reconfigure / redesign, or even land a mining/refuelling pod for the rescue.
Great vid. BTW, to reduce flippiness, set the Reaction Wheels on your lander cans to SAS only. :) After reaching the surface, of course.
Matt, there's a bug with the cargo system, where you can refill items, as long as you have 2 of them. If you have one item, such as a repair kit, and you hold ctrl and click on another of the same item, it'll make a full stack of items!
Anyway its insane design 14:36.
So smooth and just looking good.
Can't get enough of the Blunderbirds, Matt!
Blunder birds is back POGGIES
I love the Kerbin return pod!
In the u.s. we call the 6x6 military trucks with a cloth covering over the storage compartment urals (youh-ralhs)
This video was released on my birthday. Neat.

Matt: *wants to hide the cargo*
Also matt: *shows the staging and shows the cargo bay for a split second on reassembly at **4:45**-ish*
Been waiting all week
Lander be like: Stepbro im stuck!!
What are you doing step-lander?
The rover looks like a MAZ-535/MAZ-537 Russian off road heavy hauler, also used in the military.
Altough they are 4x8 in base, 8×8 in AWD, and have a 4 four wheel steering.
If you made the rower a small bit longer, and kept that distance between the front 4 and back 4 wheels, and had all 4 front wheels steer, that would helped keeping it more stable.
I had this issue when recreating your Duna mission for Lowne Aerospace 2. I added the parachutes that you had forgotten to the crew capsule, but didn't realize until I was in a Duna orbit that I placed a parachute on the hatch and couldn't EVA. Saltiest restart ever.
Matt, I'm drunk enough that I didn't guess what was in the truck, so it worked fine on me at least! great video, cheers.
I'm so happy to see another Blunderbirds. My favorite types to see!!!
EDIT: How come you don't launch into a Minmus Inclination from the pad? I know it's not necessary given the small amount of Delta V, but I feel like my encounters are just one click easy button when I'm in the same plane.
Yo, imagine someone's career mode game and they made this massive ship, tried taking it to Jool, and then ran out of gas trying to circularize. So there's this giant ship with no fuel in a highly eliptical Joolean orbit, being passed around by the different moons.
Its The Blunderbird!!!
My most prideful KSP moment is when I got a ship stranded on Duna, so i sent a rover with enough delta V on it to reach low kerbin orbit. Then i was stranded in low kerbin orbit however it had enough RCS to get about 4km away from my space station (it was planned to do so not coincidentally) and then I transferred the kerbals onto the space station that has 8 landers for earth descent each can hold 3 kerbals, so i board my 3 kerbals and land them safely on kerbin’s surface
My solution: It's Minmus so just use SAS to slam the panel against the ground then right the lander.
The Lowne/Kerbal solution: 18 wheeler full of kerbals to fix it. :P
